I live in Sweden and have heard these girls for some time. When I heard them for my first time, I was just like flabbergasted and didnt think is was true. I actually thought it was like from a digital thing, It was like no humans could sound like that. Then when I learned, and watched, their musical skills I just said oh wow! I can't say much more, really.
Talk about tear ducts I walked into Lollapalooza several years ago and they were one of the first bands on the program and right near the entrance. My teeanage son ran to see a band i just sat and listened to the young ladies, and loving both Gram Parsons and Johnny Cash was so blown away I teared up and realized that the world is getting better and the future is very bright.
These girls have been a favourite of mine for several years now, but when I come back to 'em after a break, the sheer beauty of their close harmony steals my bones away.
Wish they would cover the Pixies! Havalina or Velouria might be the best candidates. (OP currently has a Pixies avatar, in case this comment is unearthed hundreds of years from now and their avatar is different and anyone is wondering why I changed the subject.)
+Sasha Mackenzie I thought your comment was funny Sasha even if nobody else got it. People always say 'random dictionary flip' when they get sick and tired of explaining it to people, especially when it only started as one of those you-had-to-be-there things. Plus it's a funny old dictionary that only has one word per page.
I think it's adorable how Dave calls them kids. I grew up watching Dave and Paul since the early 80's so they are kids to me also. Wonderfully talented kids.
To be fair, these harmonies aren't from Europe, they're true American country folk music. However, I wish the current country music scene still had harmonies like this.
we need more musicians like them. there's barely any left whom's message feels real and meaningful. and those voices! so many beautiful things i could say about them
I just heard this group this morning on "Morning Becomes Eclectic" and I was thinking "That sounds like Emmylou Harris" and then after three youtube videos and a few beers I find this song and it's perfect. They're doing everything right.
chills just chills, all over Like a ghost singing softly into your ear. How can such young people come up with such deep lyrics? It's gotta be a gift. Teenagrs from Sweden making American Folk as good as or better than anything home grown.(in comparison to what I've heard).
First heard these young ladies on Letterman and loved their music, knew they would be a hit, wish them well and long careers. Hope to get to see them perform someday.
There's a live clip of the Sisters singing this song to Emmylou Harris at a tribute concert. Harris is a big bucket of tears. And watch how the Sisters smile as they sing this song. Just beautiful
Boy this is beautiful, you are so talented. No one can sing harmonies like you two girls. I listen to your songs often, your band is awesome as well, great sound.
Reminds me of Dawn Trickett and Dawn Graham who introduced me to Gram Parsons when I arrived in all my ignorance of things Saskatchewan! Also love the addition of the wonderful pedal steel guitar to this arrange! First Aid Kit rocks in my opinion!
I'm glad they are beginning to record again. A astounding performance on a American stage should have catapulted them to stardom. I have know doubt, if the can gather up the "steam", they will achieve that! As a long time "fan", I hoping for this! Best wishes!
Best video version of this is the version with Emmylou in the audience on Channel 4 (Live, Polar Music price awards show). More affecting, far more emotional, best performance.
They're really good live! A recording simply does not do them justice. If you like them I highly suggest to go to one of their concerts as they really are something amazing, plus tickets are usually inexpensive :)
Thank you for the music Sweden. Abba, Europe, Roxette, Ace of Base, Robyn, Army of Lovers, Rednex, The Cardigans, First aid kit, Avicii, Swedish House Mafia and all others as text and music writers as Max Martin, Anders Bagge and Tobias Karlsson. Hits for Britney Spears, Madonna, Pet Shop Boys, Back Street Boys and many many others.
First heard them on the Graham Norton Show January 2018. They are absolutely brilliant. If you could mix Simon and Garfunkel with Emmylou Harris, this is the result. Oh I wish I had followed them from the beginning. They have sold out their UK tour, wish I had a ticket now. They perform at the Polar music awards in Sweden, and both Emmylou and Paul Simon have been up in receipt of their tributes. Amazing talent and pure beautiful voices.
When famous celebrities like Paul Simon, Tom Petty, Keith Urban ,Paul Simon and Neil Young just to mention a few they all say that these girls are really something special they must be. I read an article in The Rolling Stone Magazine that they had picked the ten best acts, singers that have come out during the last decay and First Aid Kit wpould be on that list. Great and well done, considering these girls dont come from US nor Uk but from a country called Sweden
No, not really. I had a check on the Swedish Music scene and that country is packed with talents. All kinds of Music R&B, House, Metal, Indie, Pop not to mention their song writers and producers.
It's a nice song but not THAT remarkable that they should write it. The structure and progressions are coutry songwriting 101 and as they knew people who played and listened to a lot of old country music, they've picked up a lot of the cliches like bending their Bs, vocally mimicing slide guitar voicings. I think it just shows how easy it is to write a country song, their more original work is far better and much more interesting.
ok it's dictionary definition 'remarkable', but not remarkable in the way in which that word is more often used these days. I didn't say it was bad Charlie. My point is that to call it 'remarkable' is patronising. Why shouldn't they write a good song, people wouldn't say it was 'remarkable' if an old guy had written it. We'll know if it's truely remarkable in 40 or 50 years, but for now it's just a really nice, well constructed, catchy as hell, song. oh....you want easy country songs better than this? Without straying too far from the topic I'll start with Folsom Prison Blues... might take a while to look through the next 60years of country music but i think i'll find a few.
Lyrics : Oh the bitter winds are coming in And I'm already missing the summer Star comes cold but I've been told That I was born to endure this kind of weather And it's you I find like a ghost in my mind I am defeated and I gladly wear the crown I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June If you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too No, I'm not asking much of you Just sing little darling, sing with me Now so much I know that things just don't grow If you don't blessed them with your patience And I've been there before I held up the door For every stranger with a promise But I'm holding back, that's the strength that I lack Every morn' keeps returning at my window And it brings me to you and I won't just pass through But I'm not asking for a storm I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June If you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too No, I'm not asking much of you Just sing little darling, sing with me And yes I might have lied to you You wouldn't better feel for knowing of the truth I was frightened but I held fast I need you now at long last I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June If you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too No, I'm not asking much of you Just sing little darling, sing with me I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June If you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too No, I'm not asking much of you Just sing little darling, sing with me Just sing little darling, sing with me
Words can't describe how thankful I am that I found these two amazing sisters 10 years ago.
They do an amazing concert. If they ever come to your town, don't hesitate. It's incredible.
Their music is like walking bare feet through a wet grass, feeling close to truth.
Their music remembers me of being a little boy again, strolling through the woods and just feeling happy.
Dracopticon yuck hate wet grass... beautifully sung ...✌💜😂♌🇺🇸

I like that.
There is a purity about the music and the sisters themselves. It is nectar in such a troubled world.
No words to describe how beautiful their voices are. They make it look so effortless.
This is better than anything I’ve heard from Nashville since Emmylou, June, Graham, and Johnny too.
I think you mean Gram, not Graham.
Seeing them sing this to Emmylou Harris before the King of Sweden is amazing. They are so talented.
I agree. The king of Sweden is a total clown, though, he has nothing to do with anything. The other three are amazing!
I agree. FAK are wonderful and so is
I agree. FAK are wonderful and so is Emma. The King however what's he doping there.
@@andersdurango-by2cm The concert was in Stockholm.
Extremely talented, extremely humble. This is what the music industry should push

@@VeritableSmorgasbord I still have it! And yes, a Pixies cover would be amazing. If they can do War Pigs by Black Sabbath, they can do Pixies.
I've been asking myself why they name themself First Aid Kit, but they sure do heal my soul.
Kristoffer F Chosen at random by flipping open a dictionary, so they say.
I think you'll find that 'they' say it was chosen becuase they wanted to make people feel better.
+MediaPC there's a youtube video somewhere where the two of them say they chose it at random by flipping open a dictionary. But whatever, who cares.
+Sasha Mackenzie Think I'll stick to believing them, rather than you. No offence.

I just heard them for the 1st time last week. Great harmonies, voices of angels.
I think it's adorable how Dave calls them kids. I grew up watching Dave and Paul since the early 80's so they are kids to me also. Wonderfully talented kids.
Amazing. I love their music. I'm 60 something and have loved them since one of my kids turned me on to their music 4 or 5 years ago.
Glad to hear that. All blessings to you and the family!
I've just recently heard them, and can't get enough! They are GREAT (55 year old here)!!
Makes me miss living in Europe. Such a pure joy in the harmonies. Need songs like this in our tumultuous times in USA.
Relax. Joe Biden and the Commie Dems will have this country looking like the EU soon enough.

Klara and Johanna have remote control of my tear ducts. Damn you, beautiful voiced angels!
"Stockholms cold but i've been told i was born to endure this kind of weather". So true and beautiful. Cold city, cold weather...

They are very talented. I happened to be in the audience for this show. As Paul said, "The best!"

@@SWEMartin Oh really? Does the name ABBA sound familiar?
Well music is one of our biggest exports.. Tons of Swedish producers working in the UK and US

Love to hear them do "Four Strong WInds".

There is some serious musical talent in Sweden...and I don't just mean these young ladies.

When she sings "like a ghost in my mind" my heart hurt. Just the way she sang "ghost" made me feel lugubrious in a painfully wonderful way.

Oh the bitter winds are coming in
And I'm already missing the summer
Star comes cold but I've been told
That I was born to endure this kind of weather
And it's you I find like a ghost in my mind
I am defeated and I gladly wear the crown
I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June
If you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too
No, I'm not asking much of you
Just sing little darling, sing with me
Now so much I know that things just don't grow
If you don't blessed them with your patience
And I've been there before I held up the door
For every stranger with a promise
But I'm holding back, that's the strength that I lack
Every morn' keeps returning at my window
And it brings me to you and I won't just pass through
But I'm not asking for a storm
I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June
If you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too
No, I'm not asking much of you
Just sing little darling, sing with me
And yes I might have lied to you
You wouldn't better feel for knowing of the truth
I was frightened but I held fast
I need you now at long last
I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June
If you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too
No, I'm not asking much of you
Just sing little darling, sing with me
I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June
If you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too
