I got the RG35XX last year after Miyoo mini become a big hit but I choose Anbernic because of the price and I really impressed with it , I thought I will be bored after a week but one year later I still playing through all the games I missed and also recommended to many friends how I wish it would have a way to connect to friends devices and play a joint game.
I got bored in 2 hours lol

Looks like a great fun machine for some nostalgia. Bluetooth + HDMI in combination with a few controlera makes it also a console for your TV.
Careful friend. I started down the retro handheld rabbit hole about a year ago, now I have a few of these, a Retroid Pocket 3+, and started modding actual gameboy colors :)
Yeah it started out innocently enough, and now I've got 3 (plus more on the way).
I think I’m down that path. I have an RG35XX, a Miyoo Mini plus, and a Retroid pocket 2s being delivered today. I also have a Steam Deck and a Lenovo Legion Go. I’m probably good for awhile, but I’m sure I’ll order something new in the upcoming weeks…

@xbox360J yeah so me it's decent. Like I just flew back from a trip and the through out my trip I used the Anbernic and it was fantastic.
I never thought I would get into retro gaming handheld, I used to just play them on PC and then got bored and never play them again. Then, I got the RG35XX a few weeks ago because of its beautiful retro design and its price, and now I have a Miyoo MIni Plus in the shelf, and 2 Anbernic devices on its way to my doorstep. FOMO is real LOL

Keeping your jaw dropped for 20 mins is a pain because that is how long it takes to boot
Why go Batocera when you can just load your rom collection ?
Batocera was to ugly and slow for me in now using MinUI on it and it is quick lite and simple

Verses the 35xx, the plus have retroachievement support, also Bluetooth controller support is why I’ve got the plus instead of the original.
I bought like, a dozen of these to my older cousins and none of them said anything bad about it that isn't,
"I wished I knew this existed."
I own the H. Just received it3days ago. The double speaker is great.
I ordered one a few days ago before knowing the RG40XX existed -_- is the RG35XX Plus comfortable and good enough? Feels kinda small to me (I haven't received it yet)

Recently bought RG35XX H (just a horizontal Plus) for £18. The quality of the device really surprised me.

If you want it to be a backup for playing playstation games I'd say you definitely want the plus as it supports Bluetooth controllers. Get yourself an hdmi cable for it and you can play them on the tv

If someone thinks about the 35XX or the Plus to buy I would say the real question is between the OG 35XX wich is way cheaper and the RG35XX-H because of it's joystic's. It can play DreamCast, N64 and PSP better because of the extra buttons. Those systems need joystic's! The OG is still great for the 8 and 16bit library of consoles.
Buy the H! I snagged one during Aliexpress sale too.
You can fix the rattling by placing electrical tape on the back of the L1/L2/R1/R2 buttons if you open it up. The buttons still feel ine afterward, and it gets rid of that terrible rattling!
I've heard that the D-pad is better on the PLUS version, whats your thoughts on that?
What's the sd card size limit for this? Could I copy and paste everything with a new larger sd card or do I have to use a second sd card in the extra slot?

Yes except Mario and Zelda but you can add those yourself

I like it for the nostalgia factor and how small it is. But IMHO snapping a gamesir g8 on my phone is a much, much better experience than any dedicated retro emulator.
The oled 120hz screen alone blows any dedicated device out of the water. The hall effect controller and snapdragon 8 g3 is just icing on the cake.
What was disappointing to me is that no reviews have mentioned the consistent poping or crackling in the sound. On reddit they say all users experience it, would have liked to have known this before I made my purchase ...

Well dammit, a few days ago I ordered the black transparent version, I'm not ordering another one ! As for the sound, modding it should be easy if its as bad as you suggest.

Hi AGoodVibe, you might enjoy the “H” version of this console that just came out! It’s wider and could be more comfortable. You could also research which of these units have Bluetooth abilities to allow you to use a larger controller.

I have replaced the screen in my RG353VS. Not really bad at all. Battery replacement would be a breeze compared to that.
How easy or hard was that replacement? Are parts easily available? I'm legitimately curious about repairing one of these.
Really not bad. Did have to take it completely apart but lots of pictures and an IFixIt kit, you’re good. Screens were pretty readily available. I found my replacement on alliexpress. Batteries would probably be the same way.
Also, the retro gaming device hole is a deep one. Be prepared. Lol.

It’s not an emulator, it actually takes old cartridges. Gameboy and such

The 35XX H is even better, has analog sticks and dual speakers and the horizontal form factor is more comfortable
I'm going to have to give that a shot, I love the looks of the regular RG35s, but my thumbs do not enjoying playing games on them as much.

you should really look into getting an Analogue Pocket (if you havent already). No, it cant play PS, Dreamcast, etc. With openFPGA can play up to NeoGeo, Genesis, SNES, etc. PLUS plays original GB, GBA, GB Color, GameGear, TurboGrafx, Lynx cards/carts... and it has very little lag. As close to original as you will get

@@TheEverydayDad I know they can be tough to get, sometimes sell out in seconds (depending on variant). AND they have a DOCK, so you can play with an 8bitdo controller on your tv. They are pricey, but truly amazing devices. (Analogue also makes FPGA Sega Genesis, SNES, TurboGrafx, and soon N64). FPGA is really amazing, emulating the hardware, so it feels as close to original as possible. I can never go back to old school emulation after using it.
Analogue pocket is too expensive and overrated. Cannot even play Ps or Dreamcast. It’s a luxury console for those who already own a big collection of retro cartridges. You can get the game boy experience from the rg35xx and the plus avarient, which I love.
I do like the RG35xxh but definitely got to change the sd card to a better one

can you do a video for box art? i re installed stock OS latest firmware from anbernick website and I added my own rooms but they have no image, I need to use image for each game

Btw it doesn't have 64gb of internal storage. The 64gb listed is the included SD card which should be thrown away as soon as possible
I believe Garlic is not yet available on this, but it’s still worth getting your own SD card your own ROMs. The SD card on any of these devices are awful and will fail eventually.
ok really funny i got fed your video by the almighty algorithm, and I was like "wait wasnt he the camera guy?" cause i watched a LOT of your videos years ago when i was learning photography and buying my setup. The last two years I havent been using it all that much and have been obsessed, ever since i got my steam deck, with retro emulation. SO its interesting to see you follow suite a year later ot so. We seem to have similar tastes lol
Also, welcome to the thunderdome, its a LOT to take in, you finding the retroarch menu and giving the universal take about it is very funny and extremely true. main reason i dont use muOS on my rg35xx H.

@@PeezyPurp if you are buying to just play some games and not trying to mess around with it much.. get the normal version fam. It's just the same thing and the plus has wifi, bluetooth and replaceable battery, which doesn't really mean much. Battery life on the RG35XX amazing! Get the normal version. If you have some extra money, you can always go for the Plus too!
