Tim, I have not had this problem on my E64 but this is a VERY useful piece of information for resolving what would normally be a nagging issue for which the BMW dealership might charge upwards of $100. Thanks again Tim.
Hey it worked! A gnarly storm caused a giant leaf stem to wedge itself just so between my driver window and lower weather strip disabling my one touch. Your video saved the day and alleviated the severe panic attack I was suffering from not knowing how sinister the issue truly was. Like you said . Just a few seconds... problem solved. Thank you. 2011 e90 335i.
Ohh Timm, yet another marvelous vid, you are just a great source of brilliant, well explained and presented information on all manner of things related to E31 E63/64. Thanks again.
I've tried this so many times but no luck. actually none of my window controls work for any of the windows.. the front passenger window is all the way down and wont go back up. just hear a slight click when i press the down button.
wow, thannnnnk you! We have the opposite here in Canada, warm-freeze freeze-warm rain snow and of course more freeze. Anyway this simple fix worked perfectly and immediately.
Thanks for another useful tip, so much value on your channel! I look forward to the day you document a brake fluid change on the e63/e64, I've been putting this off on my 650i for a while 😏
Is there any lubricant that you could use on the window seals to reduce the friction? Of course it would have to be something that dries and then doesn't leave horrible marks on your windows...
I have a 2005 645ci and my driver door squeeks loudly when rolling down, no issues rolling up. In the winter months I have no problems. But summer months here in the desert, the heat is causing me problems. I have heard perhaps I should grease the guide rail and that the motor was just fine. Can you offer some advice please? I took the car to BMW dealership and actually had the trim seals replaced thinking the noise came from friction (glass on window seal rubber) -but it did not solve my problem. Anti-trap goes off frequently as well...Any advice greatly appreciated!😇
E90 only the master swich work but the other three don't u can role the window up or down with master swich but the swich on the respective windows are not working
I haven't had an E90 - but on the E38 there was a button on the driver's window control that would inhibit the other window switches - I bet you have one of those!
I have 2012 vmw 328i sport line, rear right side window stopped working after i pressed and hold unlock key from key fob? How can i fix this issue please help
Put the metal part of the key (if you still have one) and turn it to lock the doors and then keep it turned - all the windows should close, if one doesn't it is broken
Any ideas on the rear/back window? Will only open/shut 2 inches at a time, tried to reset it via your method for the other windows but no joy! Help required
Hello Howie, no, the rear window problem is due to the two sensors in the rear window module - bit of pain to get to. There is a video on TH-cam where someone tackles the problem - I didn't fancy it myself so my one just inches up as well!
I have this same problem but ik exactly why because I don’t have the motor or the regulator on the door because it broke I’m just waiting on the new regulator meanwhile I have the window with tape to hold it up I wanna reset the light while the other part gets here would it affect it if I reset it without the new part on?
Mmmmm. Very interesting. I have a Mercedes and my left side window sometimes on auto up would stop half way then go back down. I could then manually get it to go all the way up. I sprayed silicone spray down along the tracks at front and back ends of the glass and that seemed to cure it for several months but now it's doing it again. It may have that anti-trap thing in it. I'll have to see because it only does it on auto up.
Hi, I have a 2012 320ED. Unfortunately it doesn’t work for my window. It is closed and doesn’t want to open. When I reset it (as you do in your demonstration video) it opens, but when I close it back, it shuts permanently and doesn’t want to open. Do you know what to do?
sadly this didn't work for me , i think i confused the window module by disconnecting one of the connectors while the battery was connected (must have sprung back and made a connection) (the window went to the top position with the door open) now it goes down but wont stay at the top to re calibrate, ive disconnected the battery for a bit to reset everything :)
Unfortunately this procedure didn’t work for me. My battery had died. After boosting it I got the anti trap message for my rear driver side window. The window is all the way up at the moment and won’t move at all. I tried this and it’s still not budging and the anti trap message remains. Any thoughts?
@@TimmsBMWRepairsandInformation thanks for the reply. I’m just always suspicious about a sudden random seizure when it came as a result of an unusual occurrence like a dead battery/jump situation. Any why would the anti trap error come up for a seized motor? 🤷🏽♂️
After trying this about 20 times I got lucky Let the window down all the way Hold button down for 15 seconds leave window down for half an hour Close window then Hope it works
I have to do this at least every other day so annoying! Especially if u open the passenger door to grab something of the seat. Then have to go through the whole reset just to leave the car parked
My E36 Cabriolet did it sometimes. I use gummi pflege to seals and down - up 15 seconds. It has gone for a while. Good trick Also our window motors have plastic flex oring to make softer close. When it is cracked motor start - stop suddenly.
i have a 2009 5 serires bmw and i have this same problem but it didnt do what the video showed and it didnt fix when i press my window button it didnt go all the way it went down little by little and even holding the button for it to go down it wouldnt go all the way dont like your car in the video

This literally just happened to me today. Just left it in the garage. But tomorrow I'll know what to do ! Thanks!.
Let us know how you get on!

Nice one! Worked on my e93 lci. Unlike other tutorials I followed.
Excellent!
Brilliant, BMW Genius strikes again. So helpful and knowledgeable.
Always my pleasure!
A wealth of knowledge wish you lived near Sheffield after fixing some of my BMW E60 faults, we could turn up at my jam night for a jam.
That would be fun! I'm on Spotify now: open.spotify.com/artist/34miJHXsoBMeaJsw6ciCJy?si=EXO5zct_Ti6qXitd_-oLWg
Absolute legend, this fixed my problem. Thanks!
Glad to have been of help!

Just saved me a trip to the garage 😂 thanks very much
No problem 👍
thanks tim my e65 was doing this and now it fixed
Great news!
Great video. That function was driving me nuts. Works great now.
You're welcome!
Thanks. My window was stuck down.
I thought it came off the runners. It's fixed now.
Good stuff Andrew!
Good trick. Thanks.

Did you ever resolve the issue?
Did u resolve the issue I’m having the same problem on 2017 750i
Hi Timm this is Alvin your number one fan. You are the Houdini 🪄 of the 6 series. Great video my friend. 😃
Hello Alvin, good to hear from you!
@@TimmsBMWRepairsandInformation You are the BEST!!😃
Lubricate the tracks with silicone spray, it will make glass go faster up and down and maybe/hopefully you won't have to go through this procedure. 👍
Thanks Richie!
30 second clean program or lube?

Yes, Gummi Phlege, that will do the trick - I show it in 'How to look after your seals' in the 6-Series repair section
You’re a god! 3 codes gone!
Well done!
Great job as always Timm!
Greetings from the Suwannee.
😎💪🇺🇸🗽❤️
My pleasure with greetings from 'ampshire!
Thanks a million!!!! This worked great just like you said.
Great stuff!
You are a genius. Thank you!

Thanks very helpful and quick to the point

Yes, door cards off and grease (white grease) the window-lift mechanism, no other way around it really
thank you it worked on my 07 328i wagon. now just need to make the window on my dashboard display disappear
Glad it helped!
this worked for me! thanks so much!

Thanks for the video! Is there any possibilitie to know which window has the problem?
Thanks! Yes, it's the one that doesn't go up all the way.
Legend all sorted
Big thank you. Saved my bacon mate thank you
Glad to hear that Graham!
Splendid!! Straight to the point 👍👏👏
Thanks Juan!

Yes, the door switch is not working - the car doesn't know that the door is being opened
Hi Timm - Brilliant! Thanks 👍😀
Always good to hear from you Kev!
I have the issue that passenger window is stuck halfway. Wont go up or down
Unfortunately the window regulator needs replacing
Without the pushbutton start (I have a '97 840ci) do I turn the key to position 2 or start all the way?
Turn to position II (ignition On) but don't start the car.
I have this same problem but ik exactly why because I don’t have the motor or the regulator on the door because it broke I’m just waiting on the new regulator meanwhile I have the window with tape to hold it up I wanna reset the light while the other part gets here would it affect it if I reset it without the new part on?
You will have to go through the procedure on this video after you fit it.

Give it a go, the big manufacturers all use the same systems!
I appreciate you sir !!!!
I appreciate your comment!

@@TimmsBMWRepairsandInformation i definitely will do. Great videos 👍

my windows goes down but will not go up at all ... I have the same car and color in video !!!
thank you I held my driver's side window for 15 sec and it went up after being trap in the door
That's great!

I’m getting an error code on my scan tool as well: A44A Voltage, power-window motor, rear left
It sounds as if the mechanism is actually seized rather than not initialised.
@@TimmsBMWRepairsandInformation thanks for the reply. I’m just always suspicious about a sudden random seizure when it came as a result of an unusual occurrence like a dead battery/jump situation. Any why would the anti trap error come up for a seized motor? 🤷🏽♂️
My rear driver side window is stuck completely open. Resetting it seems to do nothing 😩
Unfortunately that sounds as if the lifter itself has failed - time to pop off the door card!
Doesn't work for me. Drivers window still triggers the anti pinch when it closes :(
What if the mechanism is actually broken? Can it still be reset?
No, if the mechanism is broken it will need replacing
I’ve done this about a 100 times already. Issue remains the same. Window actually comes all the way down.
After trying this about 20 times I got lucky
Let the window down all the way
Hold button down for 15 seconds
leave window down for half an hour
Close window then
Hope it works
Danke schon! 👍🏻

This did absolutely fuck all lol

But yours worked mine won't go up

Dry and hot recently?
Well, dry then!
thanks :)
Thanks Daniel!
This works on Bmw e92 coupes after the battery has been disconnected or jump started..😀
Thanks Micky!
