When it comes to Finnish metal, Marko can be considered as one of the pioneers. Since the early 80's he's been singing and playing. Marko released his first solo album in 2019 called Mustan Sydämen Rovio which he later translated in English; Pyre of the Black Heart. The Voice of My Father is a song people usually react to first. Now that Christmas is closing in I'd like to recommend that you check out our beloved Christmas tour Raskasta Joulua (Heavy Christmas). It's a popular annual Christmas song tour where Finnish and some foreign metal artists tour around the country singing traditional Christmas songs with a metal twist. It started in 2004 and Marko has been involved since the beginning. Floor has also taken part for many years now. A couple of songs I would suggest for you to check are Marko's and Floor's duet of Ave Maria th-cam.com/video/AqsnIzOd8AM/w-d-xo.html And Floor O Holy Night but in Finnish. Thank you for your reaction, and Floor and Nightwish will continue to amaze. I have discovered them and her 4 years ago, still amazed, and need my daily fix.
Starting to fall in love with the band a bit are we? Welcome to the army Stacey. Nightwish seems to speak to your soul, and you can't explain how or why, you just have to roll with it. This song is about longing for love and it hits hard. Maybe you should listen to a song that's about trying to get free from a toxic love. This one is a bit more metal. Romanticide! th-cam.com/video/zz_7OCCQlXs/w-d-xo.html
As a side note, if you choose a video by Nightwish always pick the Wacken version if possible. Most times it's the best-looking and sounding version. Not sure what was in the air that night, but all these years later it's still magic.
Great reaction. Nightwish gets better and better. The whole band is so Nice they feel like family after a while. Keep up the good work. Cheers from a finn in Sweden.❤❤❤
Stacy, Floor has not left Nightwish. She has started a solo career besides NW. That is different. In 2024 their new album comes out from NW. She has done in 2022 a solo concert here in Amsterdam and she sang songs from her first band After Forever (she started at the age of 16, from her own band Revamp when she was in her twenties and joined Nightwish in 2012, starting in Seattle, That is a very nice story how this happened. Ever since she was very regular seen in the US (even this year) and tonight on the 8th. she starts again her solo appearance after giving birth from her second girl almost two months ago. BTW, listening to all Floor's songs it cost you about one year if you do one single a day. She has had many side projects because it seems that everybody wants to do something with her. When Floor is involved, it is a hit! Greetings from The Netherlands.
You would love Planet Hell with Tarja from the End of and Era live performance. It's one of Jukka's best drum performances. There is also a studio version with Anette singing as well.
Floor is married to the drummer of Sabaton. Since it's Christmas time..... I can't speak highly enough of The Christmas Truce. by Sabaton. Stick around for the credits, Floor makes a special appearance.
I think it is time for "The Islander" live in Tampere. That is an epic song and it does feature a lot of Marco. Also since leaving Nightwish he has put out the single "The Voice of My Father" in Finnish and in English. It is worth a listen too. He is really good, he infact won a season of the "Masked Singer" here in Finland.
I suggest you try "storytime", "ghost love score", "romanticide", "wish i had an angel", "ghost river", "amaranth", " son of myself", "dark chest of wonders" live from wacken 13 too And also "want my tears back" and "dead boys poem" live from buenos aires "The poet and the pendulum" and "your is an empty hope" live from wembley "The greatest show on earth" live from tampere
If you want to be melted by Floor, watch the Buenos Aires 2018 performance of Dead Boy's Poem... You also get to see Jukkas friend Kaitsu who took over the drums when Jukka had to give up. He's as good ... See Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean in the Buenos Aires show to see him and see Floor and Marco together in call and answer in one of my top 5 NW songs.
thanks for the reaction from Colorado, I appreciate you giving props to Jukka the drummer the best ever. Try The Islander, live t Tampere if want to hear Marko do a solo.
For an actual soft song recommend Dead Boys Poem, Nemo, Sleeping Sun, Elan, among many others. Also acoustic version of Hows the Heart at Planet Rock with Troy on guitar..also Marco on lead at Wembley on Kiss While Your Lips are Still Red and Marco leads on The Islander at Tampiere
@StacyRPG: My comment is about Jukka, and why he dropped performing. Sadly, after the 2012/2013 tour, Jukka ended up stepping down because of chronic insomnia. Essentially, the human brain has a neurochemical "fight or flight" system that uses cortisol and adrenaline as protective measures in unknown or unfamiliar places. It can also interfere with sleep cycles, particularly REM sleep. With Jukka, I once explained how his brain basically couldn't "shut off" so he could sleep, because his "fight or flight" system wouldn't allow him to. This was due to all the unknown places Nightwish's previous tours took him and the band to. The problem is, he was only getting 2 to 4 hours of sleep a night. It was similar to running an engine at redline RPM, before the engine overheats and catastrophically fails. And Jukka mentally did this for over 3 years. Thus, he stepped down because he was afraid he was going to hurt himself physically. So, he got his good friend and mentor Kai Hahto to step in for him. Since Jukka officially stepped down, he has been involved with the business side, and is doing much better. However, he still misses the kit. And what most people don't know is, I read an interview from France where it was Tuomas, the keyboardist, being interviewed, and there has been talk of Jukka trying to get back into playing. In at least 3 different shows in Europe (smaller shows), Jukka did actually get back on the kit and play, notably playing Last Ride of the Day, which has been said is his favorite song to play. The band has been talking to him and making sure he can handle the stress from playing, medically. Even so, from what Tuomas said, Jukka was like a kid on a rollercoaster, and he wants to play again. And you're absolutely right: Jukka is an amazing drummer. He is my personal favorite drummer to watch, despite other drummers perhaps being faster or more technical, such as Kai Hahto or Scott Buchanan (drummer for Unleash the Archers). By the way, Nightwish was once compared to fantasy or RPG characters: 1) Floor: Valkyrie 2) Marko: Viking Warrior 3) Troy: Bard 4) Emppu: Imp 5) Tuomas: Carnival Ringmaster 6) Jukka: Pirate This is why I have the following hashtag: #IMissThePirate Edit: If you want to see Nightwish playing to the crowd, watch I Want My Tears Back from Wacken 2013. As for the venue, Wacken 2013 is an open-air, four-day festival. And in 2013, Nightwish was the final band on the final day, having headlined the festival. And this concert is what people got: 90 minutes of sheer, utter, pure perfection, from not just Floor and the band, but Wacken 2013 is considered by many to be one of the best concerts ever recorded.
If you want to hear a stand alone song with Marko and Nightwish please checkout The song High Hopes a Pink Floyd tribute. Also there is a Third back up singer called Troy who is a multi instrumentalist and a great song to check both Troy and Floor only singing How's the heart Acoustic version and Nemo Acoustic version the Raw power of Floor is exposed there. Thank you
Marko Hietala has been singing from the 80's and his long time band before NW is named "Tarot" 🤘 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarot_(band) - Cheers from the same city Marko and the band is from 🍺
Marko is featured in a fairly new video from Exit Eden called Run! It is great. He also sings in several Nightwish songs, The Islander, While Your Lips are Still Red and Nightwish’s tribute to Pink Floyd’s High Hopes.🤘🎸
BUT THEN I FOUND HOPE AND THE BEUTY OF NIGHTWISH AND FLOOR A FEW YEARS AGO ON YOU TUBE FROM THE FIRST FEW SEC NOTES SHE SUNG I FELL IN LOVE WITH HER AND THE BAND
Yes sadly Marko left Nightwish but you can still hear him on their latest album now he has been focusing to his solo work and multiple other projects maybe now for the holiday season I should mention the annual Finnish heavy Christmas tour with Marko and other super talented Finnish singers also Floor has visited in this project few years ago..
_"My song can but borrow your grace"_ Lovely lyrics in this one! I'd recommend that you check out the lyrics for just about any Nightwish song. I'd rank Tuomas' lyrics very high, the man's a true poet! I mentioned in your previous Nightwish reaction that Tarja was a bit of a acquired taste for me; it took me a little time before I truly appreciated her style. When it comes to "Ever Dream", it was kind of the other way around - it's one of my favourite songs from the olden days, and I associated it so strongly with Tarja that it sounded "off" when I first heard Floor's version. Floor's version's got a different vibe than the original one, but after hearing it a few times more something just "clicked". I really love this version now, and its different energy complements the original rather than "replaces" it. I didn't expect yet another Nightwish reaction this soon! Neat, glad that you're enjoying the band!
So happy you've discovered Nightwish, and such a pleasure to hear you appreciate almost every part of the band :-) Please, please, please just keep going down Gabriels list. Don't jump around. Don't listen to people who say you should do whatever else next. Follow. His. List. The list will introduce you to various aspects of Nightwish in a controlled manner, and using the best performances available for each song. Do yourself a favor, follow the list. Learn from the people who came before you.
11:05 Couldn't agree more! This generation seems more interested in recording a show, posting it and bragging about how they were there (but were you really?) than living in the moment and just enjoying the experience. It's a perfect time of year for a reaction to Sabaton - Christmas Truce. And FYI, the drummer of Sabaton is Floor's husband and she sings the outro of the song while the credits are rolling.
Hello again StaceyRPG. Breathtaking performance indeed. Every song in this legendary concert is terrific. Floor is perfect for this band and this was her first big European festival with Nightwish, while she was not yet an official member. It is one of many amazing live Nightwish concert performances such as Wembley 2015, Tampere 2015, Masters of Rock 2016, Buenos Aires 2018, Hellfest 2022 and Deichbrand 2022. But since you are checking out Wacken 2013, here is a link to every song in that show. Enjoy. th-cam.com/play/PLexzLA11Cst1G4E0D61rAnWvnDF4zIz8M.html
This concert is great. You can’t go wrong with any of the songs. I would however strongly recommend if you are going to do “I want my tears back” you should do Buenos Aires 2019. Floor is called the “Valkyrie Queen”!
Epicness right there on that stage. 2 years ago I'd not heard of Nightwish or Floor and then I did and I've been hooked eversince. Thank you for a great reaction to this phenomenal band. What a wonderful Nightwish journey you have to look forward to. 🙏😊👍❤️
Great reaction Stacey! Nightwish is so much fun. Definitely check Nightwish - High Hopes (End Of An Era) where Marko takes a lead role. It's a Pink Floyd song and the Nightwish guys have said that it's not a cover, it's a tribute.
Wow, you got it ❤ Yes, Floor is a Goddess. 😇 To be precise. The Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy. ❤ Jukka aka the Pirate is a beast behind the drums 😊. Hail Nightwish
You'll have to watch last ride of the day from wacken with floor talking to the crowd before the song kicks off.... Also Marco singing islander live is something else
To get to know Floor better as a person there are lots of interviews to find on TH-cam. Also on her channel Floor uploaded many personal videos during the lockdown period which are certainly very interesting to watch.
Since I discovered it, "High Hopes" (live) is one of my favorite songs for many reasons. Not only is it a Pink Floyd tribute, Markos performance is incredible and Jakko, the drummer, just drums himself into ecstasy, the guitar solo by Emppu is true Pink Floyd guitar solo... and Floor is getting a well deserved break ;)
It’s an interesting fact that you mentioned everyone except the keyboard player, but he is the heart of the group. As it turned out, anyone in this group can be replaced, even Tarja, with whom everyone associated Nightwish, It will be very painful, but it will still be Nightwish. Only Toumos cannot be removed. who writes all the music and who is called the Mozart of metal.
i like your reaction thank you . they are still great and you have to see nightwish doing ,shoemaker , on the hellfest in 2022 and let floor amaze you again and give you chills .it does to me every time and i am 66 😂
Hi Stacey, question / remark: If you like Floor (Nightwish) and Simone (Epica) Than I have something for you ! Check Ayreon !!! Begin with: Ayreon - The Day That The World Breaks Down - The Source (2017) song / composition 13min (sort) with 11 main singers also Floor and Simone ! After that Check Ayreon - Everybody Dies (Ayreon Universe) LIVE also with Floor ! I'm very, very, very sure you will like and love it ! And there much form Ayreon. It's Prog/ metal / rock of the highest level. all songs are a story line. So when you dive in not the order of the song ! If you want to see and hear the composer / creator, Arjen Anthony Lucassen then check the song: Ayreon - Garden of Emotions (Electric Castle Live And Other Tales) LIVE ! The first singer is Arjen ! If you want to see Marko (from Nightwish) Check Ayreon River of time (Universe). You Will LOVE it and want to see more and more......and more ! THIS NEW FOR YOU !!!
Floor is world class. Yeah, it was sad when Marko left the band. The drummer here is Jukka Nevalainen and sadly left the band shortly after this concert due to problems with insomnia.
During the pandemic, Floor started a YT channel, to keep in touch with the fans during lockdown. She made home videos of covers, started her Storytime series, where she interviewed musical friends, showed us how she was spending her days, her horses, her dog, she land, and her husband(Sabaton drummer, Hannes Van Dahl)who videoed everything. She is everything a Superstar should be. Humble, open, and delightful. You should check THAT out as well!!
The thing about Nightwish and/or Floor is that they are one of the few bands/singers that actually sound better live than on studio recordings. And if you think all those YT videos will prepare you for a real live experience ....nope. I was at AFAS Amsterdam, NL yesterday for Floor's first solo show after the birth of Floor's daughter Lucy (and Floor's first show after collapsing from exhaustion after the second Nightwish show in Finland) Floor was absolutely "on fire", and her voice is better than before (I think this might have to do with the fact that she sang almost flawlessly every song while she was heavily pregnant, even the ones where she needed a lot of breath and technique, although the spot was taken by Lucy) I am still on a high
I wonder if the people who saw Mozart play or Michelangelo paint felt the same way we do, when we witness this. The whole concert is an equal masterpiece of art. How she silences 80k people in the beginning is pure magic.
Love your reactions so far !! If you want to hear marco and floor together, with nightwish's third singer added also, react to nighwish i want my tears back from buenos aires 2019. It has to be the most fun performance from nightwish :) Or, for the christmas spirit, marco and floor doing ave maria together ;)
That was true at this time but has been replaced by Shoemaker from the Human Nature album. When the band first released the album they didn't think they would be able to pull if off live with it's rapid pitch changes and odd time signatures that Tuomas had written for their storytelling effect. They gave it a go in the first virtual concert in May of 2021 and it was so successful it became a regular part of the setlist for the whole Human Nature tour. I love the lyric video of the song with it's epic visuals to go with the epic song, especially the ending but I also love the live performances from Hellfest and Deichbrand in 2022.
Symphonic Metal is like ☯️ fire and water. Come deeper 😉 in this music. EPICA - Consigne to oblivion live at zenit. KAMELOT - Lair, Lair. Metal greatings 🤘
After just a couple songs or so, you’re right about so many things! - Nightwish’s sound IS distinct…there’s no mistaking them - symphonic metal IS indeed “chef’s kiss” - Floor IS a goddess, and when she chooses to flex on us mortals it’s…overwhelming!
Another lovely dueat Marco/Floor is in "Endlessness", from the last album. Don't think there's a live version, and at this point it will never be, alas. It's a strange song indeed, I personally think it's genius but maybe it's not among the most loved 😂

And Floor O Holy Night but in Finnish. And pregnant. th-cam.com/video/ym1Wc5dmUYc/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for your reactions, really liking them!
Thank you for your reaction, and Floor and Nightwish will continue to amaze. I have discovered them and her 4 years ago, still amazed, and need my daily fix.
Love the respect for Jukka - he's an absolute beast and was killing it this concert. Miss that guy!
On stage Floor talks like a pirate and sings like, well she can sing however she wants.
Floor and Marko going full throttle are something to behold.
Vacken the W is a V in German, which is where this concert was recorded... ❤
She did an amazing solo show yesterday. She also did 2 songs with her sister Irene. Was lucky to be there. She was very happy to be back.
If you love hearing Marco, you should then listen to "High Hopes". He really shines in that song.
This is in Wacken, Germany ( burning skull). Wacken is the biggest Metal Festival of the world. 🤘
Yes. "The Islander " You will not be disappointed, Stacey!
Great stuff Stacey. You still need to check out Floor's solo stuff to hear a softer edge to her style.
I suggest you try "storytime", "ghost love score", "romanticide", "wish i had an angel", "ghost river", "amaranth", " son of myself", "dark chest of wonders" live from wacken 13 too
And also "want my tears back" and "dead boys poem" live from buenos aires
"The poet and the pendulum" and "your is an empty hope" live from wembley
"The greatest show on earth" live from tampere
If you want to be melted by Floor, watch the Buenos Aires 2018 performance of Dead Boy's Poem...
You also get to see Jukkas friend Kaitsu who took over the drums when Jukka had to give up.
He's as good ... See Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean in the Buenos Aires show to see him and see Floor and Marco together in call and answer in one of my top 5 NW songs.
Jukka aka "The Boss" is sorely missed, Kai (current drummer)is great ,but Jukka brought the passion, energy & enthusiasm in his playing and presence
Kai is a precision machine. Jukka is a dynamo.
A wonderful woman reacting to a wonderful song... What more could you want????????
thanks for the reaction from Colorado, I appreciate you giving props to Jukka the drummer the best ever.
By the way, Nightwish was once compared to fantasy or RPG characters:
1) Floor: Valkyrie
2) Marko: Viking Warrior
3) Troy: Bard
4) Emppu: Imp
5) Tuomas: Carnival Ringmaster
6) Jukka: Pirate
This is why I have the following hashtag: #IMissThePirate
Edit: If you want to see Nightwish playing to the crowd, watch I Want My Tears Back from Wacken 2013.
Thank you
Dont forget the keyboarder Tuomas! He is the mastermind behind all this phänomenal compositions!
And let's not forget that Marko is old school and has been the lead singer for his band Tarot since 80's.
With his brother Zachary 🤘
BUT THEN I FOUND HOPE AND THE BEUTY OF NIGHTWISH AND FLOOR A FEW YEARS AGO ON YOU TUBE FROM THE FIRST FEW SEC NOTES SHE SUNG I FELL IN LOVE WITH HER AND THE BAND
Excellent Reaction! I 100% with everything you said!🤘🎸
Yes sadly Marko left Nightwish but you can still hear him on their latest album now he has been focusing to his solo work and multiple other projects maybe now for the holiday season I should mention the annual Finnish heavy Christmas tour with Marko and other super talented Finnish singers also Floor has visited in this project few years ago..
Hi Stacey. i'm so looking forward to watching your Nightwish & Floor journey oh my the wonder & joy you have coming enjoy.
To be precise. The Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy. ❤
Jukka aka the Pirate is a beast behind the drums 😊.
Hail Nightwish
You'll have to watch last ride of the day from wacken with floor talking to the crowd before the song kicks off.... Also Marco singing islander live is something else
Dammit! Floor made me cry again.
Hello cat 😅 Your cat is so cute 😁 Floor is awesome 🤘I went to a nightwish concert last year in Antwerp and they are awesome in live 🤘
To get to know Floor better as a person there are lots of interviews to find on TH-cam. Also on her channel Floor uploaded many personal videos during the lockdown period which are certainly very interesting to watch.
You really need to watch her react to herself on the Wacken 2013 Ghost Love Score performance. It’s so good.
O you are so gonna love the Nightwish journey! I will be watching knowingly! 👍
I’m with you the drummer is the heart of the instrumentation ; he’s a beast ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Absolutely agree!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
Floor is such an incredible vocalist, but also an incredible down-to-earth humble person as well! The best imo! 😍🤩
I could watch Jukka play the drums all the way through the performance, he gets so into it! 😎
Great reaction, Stacey! I know you will like Storytime and Romanticide from this same concert. Another fact about Floor, she just had a baby.
The thing about Nightwish and/or Floor is that they are one of the few bands/singers that actually sound better live than on studio recordings. And if you think all those YT videos will prepare you for a real live experience ....nope.
I was at AFAS Amsterdam, NL yesterday for Floor's first solo show after the birth of Floor's daughter Lucy (and Floor's first show after collapsing from exhaustion after the second Nightwish show in Finland)
Floor was absolutely "on fire", and her voice is better than before (I think this might have to do with the fact that she sang almost flawlessly every song while she was heavily pregnant, even the ones where she needed a lot of breath and technique, although the spot was taken by Lucy)
I am still on a high
I wonder if the people who saw Mozart play or Michelangelo paint felt the same way we do, when we witness this. The whole concert is an equal masterpiece of art. How she silences 80k people in the beginning is pure magic.
Love your reactions so far !! If you want to hear marco and floor together, with nightwish's third singer added also, react to nighwish i want my tears back from buenos aires 2019. It has to be the most fun performance from nightwish :) Or, for the christmas spirit, marco and floor doing ave maria together ;)
Floors voice just touch your soul ❤
Thank you so much for continuing with Nightwish!!! Liked, subscribed and rang the bell!❤😊
Floor herself told this song is probably the most challenging song she had to sing.
@@rnowak85 Music is also very hard to sing. Pan aswell. Toumas realy challanged Floor on the last album 😀
Symphonic Metal is like ☯️ fire and water. Come deeper 😉 in this music. EPICA - Consigne to oblivion live at zenit. KAMELOT - Lair, Lair. Metal greatings 🤘
After just a couple songs or so, you’re right about so many things!
- Nightwish’s sound IS distinct…there’s no mistaking them
- symphonic metal IS indeed “chef’s kiss”
- Floor IS a goddess, and when she chooses to flex on us mortals it’s…overwhelming!
Tuomas Holopainen (keyboards) is the master of music and lyrics....Thanks Stacey, more Nightwish please
My favourite Nightwish song! Perhaps one of the songs from the upcoming album will change that.
Another lovely dueat Marco/Floor is in "Endlessness", from the last album. Don't think there's a live version, and at this point it will never be, alas. It's a strange song indeed, I personally think it's genius but maybe it's not among the most loved 😂
The Nightwish rabbit hole is deep. Be sure to look for Floor’s history before Nightwish as well as her solo work.
Good reaction. Did see Floor live yesterday. Amazing performance. She is great live and was very happy to be back. Thanks for this reaction. Subscribed.
Thank you for the support!! Oh wow I’m so jealous you saw her! I bet she’s happy to be back!
Loving your reactions to NW! Floor is a goddess! And the band is just the best! Hope you get to some more of the songs soon! And I'd still like to watch you react to some Ayreon Live! Most people start with Everybody Dies. But all the songs in that concert are amazing!
Storytime and Romanticide from this same show is a must!
So much misery in this sometimes so stupid world...and yet... there is such Beauty. Souls who find Nightwish are blessed and transported. Let the others swim in rap and claptrap. Ascend.
If you want to hear a nice song of Nightwish with Marko as the lead singer go for “While your lips are still red” at Wembley. If you want to hear Floor and Marko really sing together then “I wish I had an angel” at Wacken 2013.
