Great finds, love the door knows, and the cosmetic case. Oh and the little purse. I have one that doesn't have the chain to hang it with, I just use a tiny nail and hang it from the bottom of the clasp, works great. Love your new furniture piece and frames too, so fabulous!

That bottle held the cologne White Shoulders, I used it in my teen years,which was in the early 60’s it was quite popular then.
I would turn the mail desk into a vanity for makeup, perfumes, a mirror, lotions, etc.

Beautiful items. I’m a big fan of Corinna at tarnished treasures and often drooling over her finds. I love the silver plated purse and the old lace doilies. The bowl is made of Capiz shell, sometimes called windowpane oyster. In times past they actually used the shell to make translucent windowpanes, before the availability of glass. I’m looking forward to following along and enjoying your posts.

The secretary is so nice! Put some boxes of baking soda in the piece and close it up. The baking soda will absorb the smell if that's what you are trying to do. Nice video.

I love the secretary desk. In the oval on face of drop leaf, it would beautiful with a victorian rose decal or water slide. Would add a punch of Victoria and soften it. You could do a bit and miss to make decal or slide look time worn

I have that same Synonyms book. I got it at at yardsale about 40 years ago i remember the sale so well because i got some beauiful antique books there that i still use in my decor..

My favorites are the picture frames and the sweet little desk. I didn't read the other comments if already suggested, but just run some dark Old English on it to moisten it and cover up the dings. I also watch Tarnished Treasures. Great finds!

Hello Danielle. I too am a fan/subscriber of Tarnished Treasures. And I agree that you both have similar tastes in decor. This was a great haul; I loved everything you showed on this video. The set of lacy bits are most probably antimacassars. They were used in the 40s to protect the tops and arms of accent and easy/club chairs. Take care.
you can put bottle brush trees in the door knobs for xmas. they look really cute. I have some in glass knobs. I love watching tarnished treasures and her amazing finds also.

You could try some Old English polish on you desk. It would treat the wood and cover some of the scratches.

Hi Danielle, the antique secretary desk is nice, you should buy some BRIWAX furniture polish to nourish the wood and bring out the deep dark stain and patina. Just a suggestion. 🙂

I like this style of haul video! I like the way you styled the glass knob with the dried flowers! And your wooden spoons are great! I love vintage and antiques that you can tell were used and loved. Doesn’t every cook have a favorite wooden spoon? Love the chipped ones!
Hi, buy some furniture oil put a couple drops only on a flannel rag and polish your wood desk and the wood will soak it up. It will definitely improve the look of the wood and keep it from deteriorating with further use. You may have to do it twice depending on how dry the wood is. It won’t feel oily for long as the wood drinks it up. I’m 70yrs old so I’ve used this for many years. (Not wax or paste, oil only)Canadian girlfriend
This is my first time to watch you....loved your finds....and I am also a lover of Tarnished Treasures style and videos! I can never find the things she finds either....but I live on the coast of MS, and we just don't seem to get rid of those things if we have them to begin with....the perfume bottle is an old White Shoulders....my sister in law's favorite way back in the day.
Love the desk and chair and old books! The bathroom poster is in French and the Fall of the Roman Empire is a history book about the end of the Roman rule in western Europe... which is quite interesting :)

The Roman Empire book is famous, the author is Gibbon and was originally published in the 1800s. Multi-volume set. Great find.
The powder compact, rouge, perfume bottle, silver case (?) and tapestry purse are my favorites. And what a steal on the secretary!

Put some cloves in your desk with the dryer sheets and it will help make it smell better. Great finds!

Hi. If you Google antique furniture cleaner with boiled linseed oil and vinegar you will find a recipe and instructions for a cleaner with boiled linseed oil, turpentine, and vinegar. Try it on a small piece first but it would really clean up your secretary. It does have a strong smell so make sure to use it outside.

For the vintage silver suitcase thing - that would be cute for displaying antique Easter/Christmas themed postcards or antique pictures, when it's displayed open if you'd want to use it to display something else in??!!

That picture frame on the stand had a bubble glass that beveled outward. I have one, it had my grandmother's photo in it. She died young, so it is quite old, but after Victorian times.
I bought an antique hutch and the bottom drawers when I opened hmusty smell. smell. I put a jar of baking soda on shelf and closed door. Took odor away.
I really like the desk. Also the Ornate picture frame. That is cool that the key worked. What even made you think of trying it?

You might be able to use the little bag for your glasses if they will fit.
You can scrub the gold off with bar keepers friend and a dish scrubber. I bought a beautiful ironstone tureen with similar gold on it last week just in hopes it would come off and it scrubbed off perfectly.

*Danielle, very beautiful finds this trip to your haunts! 😊 The 2 lacy pieces you found that were long, narrow and ecru colored may have been collar pieces used by a judge or lawyer that would 🤍 hang down from their collars on top of their robes while in court. If so, they would have been attached by a fabric collar apparatus that was tucked under their very stiff, starched shirt collars. I would have to see them in person to be certain. I am guessing you may have seen vintage pictures of legal types of men in their courtroom finery from the 1800's? The postal desk is lovely; it would have been a piece of furniture that a Post Master in a small rural town would have sat at and doled out people's mail from when they came to the Post Office to pick up their letters ✉️ and packages - because at that time there was no mail delivery. How great is it that the random key worked in the desk⁉️😳👌😊*

I fan through the pages for the same reason you do plus, to see if there's any money squirreled away in there, forgotten, by the man or woman of the house!!! Once in an huge, old dictionary I bought for $1 I found foreign paper currency. I checked, no great value.
