    Saw the band live on 6/23/77 at the LA Forum. To this day, the best concert I've ever seen!

      The Badgeholders show was a hot ticket, and their last week at the Forum was legendary. And final.

      @@Sinnsonido I remember scalping our tickets from Troy Ticket Agency. This was the night a very drunk Keith Moon came out and played with the band. About ten of us from the High School football and baseball team went to the concert. We were 17 and I’ll never forget it. A year earlier I went to my very first concert at 16 at the Forum. It was KISS and I was instantly “hooked” on live concerts. Moon would die in ‘78 and Bonham the next year. Lucky to be able to say, I saw them both....

    Thanks Patrick. Lots of good information. I don't have any of the pressings you've shown but I noticed my box set of 'How the West was Won' sounds pretty good. Very quiet and very good SQ. Greg

    Thanks a lot for your opinion and video, really helps a lot to pick the right one. A video like this would be great about Dire Straits, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd just as well. Cheers! and take care

    Great video! I actually hoped you would make a video like this because I am intrigued about your opinion on the best sounding pressings. Thanks for covering LZ first! Good to know that you don’t have to spend a fortune for the best pressings. -Russ

    Common West German pressings of LZ II from the ‘70s use the RL cut for one of the sides. I’ve heard of people finding double RL German pressings but those are pretty rare, methinks.

    Can’t seem to find a Specialty Presence pressing with GP on discogs. I’m only seeing two GPs, one from Santa Maria and another from Terre Haute. Is it so rare that no one has created a discogs page for it?

    Hey Patrick! Great pics, I have the HOH and Zoso that you mentioned and need to check out the others (which I’ve added to my wantlists). I’ll probably need to do a shootout with my classics, which I haven’t yet done 1 on 1. One quick question: I couldn’t find the presence on Discogs :/ the only GP I saw were non specialty (CSM and Terra Haute) and the only specialty pressings didn’t display any of the gp marks (@T/gp, AT/gp, etc). Could you post a link to that specific listing for presence? It’s my wife’s favorite LZ album so of course I can justify another pressing😂)

    Patrick, do you think we'll ever see one-steps or equivalent, like a recreation of the Ludwig for example? BTW do you have a favourite pressing for Disraeli gears?

    Thanks for this video! You mention Monarch many times…is this the pressing to seek out? How about PR, RI, etc.? Or don’t worry about the pressing facility?

    Ever since I purchased: _Led Astray: The Folk & Blues Roots of Led Zeppelin_ compilation I realized Page / Plant ripped off pretty much _every_ blues song they could.
    Plant didn't even bother re-writing original blues lyrics!
    Shameful, or maybe Shameless.
    Enjoying perusing your channel. Thanks for the Goldmine (hehe!) of wisdom you so kindly share to all.
    Thank You!

      Educate yourself further and you'll realize many bands did the same, it was very common. Zeppelin brought more attention to the original artists than they ever would have received otherwise.

  • @frankferaco5996
    @frankferaco5996 ปีที่แล้ว

    So you clearly prefer GP cuts. However, are you also saying that the monarchs are the better sounding pressings in your opinion? Or are other Pressing plants equivalent? I'm on the east coast and monarchs are less common

    Hey Patrick 🎶
    What in your opinion happened with The Classic Series? I do not own any of them, but it’s cool to hear their are others that sound Amazing!!! I just picked up my first RL❤️ Wish they were all cut like that🤨😃
    Thanks Brother ✌️🎶

      Not sure what happened, maybe the monitors were not setup right, maybe they did not listen to other pressings to get a feel for what the "best of the day" sounded like

      The Porky is A1/B1 RL is A2/B3

    • @Mongodaze234
      @Mongodaze234 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The earliest & first UK was A2/B2 cut by RL. The Porky is a reissue from somewhere around the early 80’s. It has the WEA logo on the outer edge of the label. WEA was introduced in 1978 by Warner & was not around in 1973.

    I appreciate the video and the knowledge/opinions, but seems like you have a huge bias towards original pressings. You casually dismissed the entire Classic Zeppelin catalogue...claiming that the Classic Physical Graffiti 'doesn't even compare' to any clean US pressing is pure nonsense.

    • @Mongodaze234
      @Mongodaze234 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree. The classic series are no slouches. The weakest ones are zep 2 & houses of the holy. Presence & in through the out door are better than the first pressings. The best out of the bunch are 1 & 3 - they sound fantastic. In saying that there will always be a transient magic with the OG’s.

    Sorry to burst yer bubble mate but yer no spring chick so I very much doubt you can HEAR these subtle differences. In reality your getting sucked in by the branch of psychoacoustics heavily influenced by ego. Don’t worry its a problem that’s prevalent in TH-cam land.
