- Slowly, but surely, we are transforming our English country style house into a home. This silent vlog is about preparing for spring by making small changes in our cottage garden to make it more inviting during our long winters. I recycle materials to create interest and use evergreen plants to make sure the garden is beautiful in all seasons. I bake lemon curd cakes in my farmhouse kitchen that can be enjoyed in our much improved seating area, where we make grand plans as we look over our cottage garden.

I almost have to tie my hands by my side when I go and sit down to enjoy the view of my garden😊. Otherwise I will be up and trimming something, or moving something, which then leads to “jumping in” to full blown working in the garden. In retirement I have been taking my first cup of coffee to my little table and chair and just truly “living in the moment!”
Love that! I seem to be able to relax more if I have a coffee in my hand - maybe it's a substitute for tying hands ;-)

J'adore les sarcocoques ! Nous avons des hivers longs, il est donc très important de s'intéresser à nos produits tout au long de l'hiver. J'en ai environ 10 plantés ! Leur odeur attire mon attention lorsque je passe devant.
@@BoundaryRoad ah oui ! Dix c’est de la passion! Je n’en ai qu’un mais mon jardin est petit. Je cueille souvent en fin d’hiver une ou deux petites branches que je garde près de mon lit ; lors de mes insomnies leurs parfums sont réconfortants (idem pour les roses, lilas,seringats etc!!!)

What a wonderful cottage and garden !
Recipe for the Lemon Curd Cakes
2 cups of self-raising flour, 120g butter, 1 cup of caster sugar, 2 eggs and milk to combine - plus a jar of lemon curd. Put all of the ingredients, aside from the milk into a mixing bowl and mix until combined. Add milk to the point where the mixture starts slapping the sides of the bowl (it will make a slapping sound). It is approximately half a cup. Then follow the steps from the video and bake at 180 degrees for approximately 15 minutes. I sometimes drizzle them with a runny lemon icing but they are nice without this too. Happy baking!
Just found your channel. It’s so relaxing and inspiring. I would never of looked at springs and thought to make them into a planter! It looks beautiful. Can’t wait to see how it grows. I’m now off to binge watch all of your other videos 😂 x

Thank you for this comment. It's hard to unlearn what you glean from growing up in a country which often has drought restrictions and national ad campaigns on how to save water in the household - we all learnt different ways to achieve the same thing.

Glad you enjoyed it! I have used the sofa springs in floral arrangements many times and thought it would be worth trying an ivy as it grows anywhere and everywhere. Time will tell :-)

Thank you! Yes, I have bulbs planted in the troughs but I will put some evergreens in them too after the bulbs have done their thing. I found those troughs buried in our garden :-)

Hi there, the chairs came in that colour so I'm not sure of the exact colour. I would say the grey has a purple undertone undertone. Good luck with your painting!

Thank you so much! The green tint on my pots is an algae, which comes with our climate. It can be scrubbed off but I don't mind the look of it, so I leave it there.
