This figure will eventually be used for a Brandon Routh Superman Returns figure. Almost thinking they intended it for that initially and then scraped it, for some odd reason.
Thank you. I have a lot of MCFarlane figures but it's slowly not being fun anymore. Many figures no longer come to Germany or they are so rare that they sell out within a day or even hours. This actually only makes the market interesting for scammers who want 80 or more euros for a figure. They are actually not rare collector's items; in forums you can sometimes see lots of figures in American supermarkets. The idea of recycling unsold items as “Jokerized” or “Black and white editions” also puts me off, especially since the price is supposed to double thanks to the new color scheme. I think I'll concentrate fully on Mafex and older DC Direct / Mattel figures, so I'll take the time to wait until I find something good on eBay.
I live in Ireland and I have the exact same issue. I had the classic Wonder Woman preordered on Amazon UK for about 2 months and they cancelled it with no reason on the day it was supposed to arrive. I can't find her, or many other figures here anywhere. They're as rare as hens teeth!

I got the Clooney Batman but I can't order the rest of the figures from him and he doesn't get any information from the wholesaler. I don't think you should treat customers like that.

The head is probably the one bit that is the best selling point for this figure. I do love that smile, even if I have my reservations about picking this up due to other things, like just not being as much into the "classic" look, exactly, anyway.

is that the hush trunks or 1000 trunks? I've got an extra superman vs devastator waiting for this superman to arrive and if I need to rob another hush trunks I will but I'm gonna use the the cape that came on the Mario superman with the point cut off because I've got that cape just sitting on my stand from when I used ultraman cape on Mario supermans body for my mullet superman... either way I'll be test fitting both trunks to see which ones look best anyway!
Definitely should have came with a second head sculpt.. there is no reason why any action figure wouldn't come with one and they definitely should have changed that cape to a regular one.
All the coloring is near perfect. That group shot is great. I think my hang up is that McFarlane advertises it as a classic alongside the trading card image and its clearly not that. If it was just pushed as a repaint i think it wouldnt have nearly the disconnect. Also i think the Speeding Bullets body remains the best superman theyve done if they just retooled the detailing
I do wonder if Todd is purposely doing these weird and "off" choices that slightly changes what we consider as classic; so that further down the road another variation can be released with a new brand title. Just speculation on my part. What I do know is the higher priced collector series containing a LOT of the figures that I've wanted from the beginning and the BAF monitor pricing has basically killed my enthusiasm for the line. For me, knowing I will never pay his $30 price tag on his collector line means I am not getting these wanted figures and resulting in gaps in my DC character collection and ultimately resulting in not being interested in the McFarlane DC multiverse line anymore. I'll still get new characters but only in the $20 price range or wait for discounted items. I'm ready for another company to give us better DC toys. Maybe Mattel would throw their hats in again. I love their MOTu masterverse line and their wrestling figures have good articulation as well.
I agree with lot of points of your review , although I am more of a "Superman1000" color scheme guy, and to this day that's still my favourite. It's so wierd how there's always such disconnect between the card art and the actual figure, that artwork should've been better suited for a Golden Age Superman, both him and Lois are very much styled like their Fleischer Animation counterparts. Maybe a card art that should go with that Superman #1 we all wanted , which instead got released as a Platinum variant...Yeah I am still pissed of about that! I would love if some day they fix the neck peg on that Superman#1 fig and re-release him in a two pack with Lois! I'd buy that in a second!
The weird ' lump' on this one's leg is from issue 758- 867, when the coronavirus attacks metropolis and causes everyone to become homeless drug addict, shoplifters who vote for bidden. Then when supes is helping clean up the streets he pricks his finger on a dirty needle causing hs hands to swell up! Very fartworthy 😂❤❤
McFarlane figures are generally way too big for a Mafex display, but McFarlane did make a Hush Superman as well as Batman so maybe go that route? I’m still looking for a good substitute as the Mafex Hush Superman is ridiculously expensive at the moment
I’m getting really tired of this game of “I’ll sell you the same hamburger next Tuesday except this time I won’t forget (wink, wink) the pickles.” Then, when next Tuesday comes, you get the burger, and the pickles are there, but the tomato is missing. “Oops! I forgot the tomato (wink, wink)! Come back next Tuesday!” That’s not a good long term strategy. If you want me to come back every Tuesday, give me the best burger you can make every Tuesday. It’s not that hard.

Nah, I still don't like the figure because the cape sculpt is not my favorite and the body mold is a little too skinny but Superman is still one of my favorites superheroes, Great review on him Brad.
Personally I don’t like seeing the teeth. I’d rather it was just a smile, the toothy smile makes him look like a country bumpkin. Love the body though, I’m wondering if a head swap would work, maybe use action comics number one head?

Looks like its inspiration is the Neal Adams “ Coming of the Supermen” series down to the belt and “ S” buckle. Face also looks Adams-ish. Art was decent enough but the writing was forgettable.
Besides the great colors and good overall buck. The rest of the figure is sort of a mess. Goofy face. Big wacky hands. The belt isn't what we want. Supes 1000 control to be the best one.
It's 2024 and neckbeards continue to be insufferable ultra contrarians cause the only way they can hold a conversation with anyone is to bait them into a debate knowing that 90% of the general population will disagree with them, not knowing there are less off putting ways to make an acquaintance or friend. It's a great figure and a lot of people love Superman including children. This is the modern image of what a "classic" Superman looks like, not the first appearance Action Comics version.
The face looks like someone brought the last smiling super man head everyone was making fun of And sort of fiddled with it to make it a little less hideous
almost all the cards that come with the mcfarlane figure don't match with the figure...mcfarlane is making many figures that don't look like the character in the comics
McFarlane is lazy and/or cheap when it comes to details. Sometimes he’s cheap & has tons of reuse of wrong parts OR he’s lazy and thinks ppl shouldn’t care, because HE doesn’t care and he never thinks he’s wrong. 🤷♂️ You cant hold a major license and only ever care about pleasing yourself.
The artwork makes me want a Darwyn Cooke Supes now.

Are the trunks and belt swappable with the HUSH Superman?
I guess the boots would be impossible without swapping the lower leg and repainting them.

Does anybody know if this is a good alternative to put with the mafex hush batman?
