- Join @RobsAquatics and I to catch some aquarium fish in South Florida! There was a snapping turtle that caused us some grief with the fish traps but we persisted... Check out the beautiful fish that we found :)

Awesome video! Mad to see how many cichlids there are in that bit of river, that snakehead looked pretty scary too! Bet that has eaten a lot of cichlids in there 😮 Cast nets are fun to use, albeit a bit of a faff at first! Where my Dad works there's a pond full of small carp and we've used it to check the fish there. We'll throw some floating pellets in and then chuck it over the top of them, with this working really well! Definitely a bit of a knack to it though, twisting your wrist holding the net round whilst throwing it definitely helps to open it out. Have you ever thought about making a non native invasive species biotope tank? Think this could be pretty cool, add species which are native to the type of environment you're building and then add some invasive species to that environment in with them too!

Nice one Kaity, any idea what the original indigenous fish species were in that area? Presume some have been pushed out by invaders, butcsome of the invaders are also being fed on of course. Are these mainly from hobbyist releases, or escapees from fish farms?
Thank you 😄 Out of the ones we caught, I believe that the Bluegill, mosquitofish and mollies are all endemic to the area. Most of the invaders began from hobbyists releasing their fish into the water unfortunately

My recommendation is to get together with BFP (Bobby). He has a huge following and LOTS of experience catching and rescuing wild fish

Oh hon if you wanna learn to catch cichlids in Florida don't go to rob go to Bobby 1k times over. He'll I'm sure the canal your at he only knows about bc of Bobby. Bobby rarely posts anymore but soon as he does he has 8x the views rob even has subscribers and he is going backwards. Just be careful bc before you know it he will be talking shit about you as well just like he did Bobby and cpl the guys who left him live in their houses and really anyone that helped him out he will dis them and talk shit on them when around someone else. If you go back to og Bobby channel and then rob channel and just start watching his videos after he stops hanging with Bobby you will see all the times he does it. And even now he is still trying to ride Bobby's coat tales bc his channel is flopping which is probably why he agreed to you bc he needs knew subscribers bc of dissing so many other you tubers
Bobby's done an amazing job with his channel, but it's not just about how many subs/views a person has. More important to me is that they're reliable, communicative and keen to collab, which not everyone can do due to other priorities and schedules. It's really normal for a channel to have times of growth and depletion over time. I personally haven't heard Rob saying anything like that, and when I was with him he only had positive things to say about other creators. I'm not having a go, I just wanted to mention that 🙏🏻

I actually think I scared all the fish away 😭 Rob mentioned there had been a lot of rain recently which seemed to have led to less fish in there. Or maybe that turtle eating them all 😅
