    I use to help my friend make peanut brittle not so long ago... adding Baking soda is amazzing.. makes it Crisp , not crunchy.. light and airy.. so divine... we made THOUSANDS... people couldn't get enough of them... zin this little batch I would imagine 1 tsp would be plenty... mix in just before turning out onto the paper... it will triple in size fast.. so be sure to stir fast 😉👌 you won't regret it.

    Made these today and they are delicious. Just one little problem!
    Didn't grease the paper enough so they were stuck to it. I put on my kettle to boil and steamed the paper off. I guess I learned my lesson for next time....hahaha!

    • @totallysacha
      @totallysacha  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Smokeythelovable Good effort with the kettle!! I'd probably have just eaten the paper too! hahahaha. Glad you enjoyed them, and really glad you made them and told me. Means the world to us to have our recipes recreated elsewhere : )

    I just tried this and it's pretty good, only thing is that they're not solid enough, they're still kind of soft and pliable at slow movements. How can I fix this for next time?? Thanks!

    Just wondering, since you can caramelise honey, could you do the same with just honey (since it’s sugar anyway) and without a granulated sugar?

    Hi Sacha,I have come across your recipe for SESAME SNAPS, I am hoping that as your recipe uses much less sugar and no glucose/corn syrup which the bought ones do have in, so I have used a Brown Granulated Sugar rather than soft brown as I had some left over, I have toasted mine slightly first, so am hoping it will be fine, and I used just a Spatula to flatten mine out, I also plan to use Gluten Free Chocolate on half of mine.The mixture is cooling as I type this, so I shall let you know.Thank you.

      +Alison Stevens All sounds good to me - so sorry for slow response, we're normally far quicker - just been a struggle without internet (nothing's been connected yet at the new place!) Hope the snaps were up to standard : )

      @alisonstevens8687 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi,
      The sesame snaps turned out really great, but I shall have to flatten it much more, as I did not get the SNAP..haha I got more of a chewy bar, but wonderful taste all the same.
      Thank you

    • @totallysacha
      @totallysacha  10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Emilie Højbjerre-Frandsen Emilie, I'm a food addict... I literally eat every day - hahaha. No all joking aside, I get recipes from friends, family (my dad use to be a baker), old cookbooks, I create recipes when I can too, and since I've started this channel I've learned lots too - by no means an expert... (Remember - you only see the stuff that goes well. I've had a few disasters that I haven't published too!)

      @Browny241422 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing. I like différents ideas. I wouldn't disagree with your method of preparing it. It might have been a lot more quicker if you had brown the sugar before adding in the sesame seeds. Mostly to avoid over cooking the nutrients from the seeds. I might be wrong lol Please take no offence🌹

      Smokeythelovable So glad to hear. They're a favourite of mine - have been since I was a kid. It was only recently when i found an unopened bag of sesame seeds in the back of my baking cupboard that I thought to make them! Now I have, reckon I'll be making them far more often as a pick-me-up to take to work, or keep in my desk (for those mid-afternoon lulls in energy!)

    This is my first time making it. It’s delicious. I waited for more than 30 mins to let it cool down. But after I cut and stack them, they stick together. I can’t separate them. 😭 How can I prevent it next time?

    • @rchallender2493
      @rchallender2493 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you could dust some cocoa powder of powdered sugar over your sesame snap pieces 🤔, you could also cut some small pieces of wax or parchment paper to layer in between each sesame snaps. It wouldn't have to be the same size as the sesame snaps, I feel like smaller sheets of paper would look better and more clean! I think as long as you have paper covering around 50% to 60% of the snaps you should be able to separate the individual sesame smaps without to much effort! My last and personal favorite idea to prevent sticking would be to enrobe the sesame snaps in some tempered chocolate 👍🏻! Using tempered chocolate would help give the chocolate a nice shiny look when cooled, and would also give the chocolate a pleasing little snap when you bite down into it, while also helping to slow down melting while it's being held in your hand 👍🏻! To help balance out the sweetness of the sesame snaps, I would probably use semisweet or dark chocolate 🍫! These were just some of the ideas that popped into my head as I was reading your question! Good luck 😁!

    Oh, I used to love these as a kid! Could I use maple syrup instead of honey for this? :)

    • @totallysacha
      @totallysacha  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      itssophiebear I actually haven't tried this. So I don't know. Why not try it, and let me know. It sounds like it would be delicious. If your'e not a fan of honey flavour - which I'm not, if it's overpowering. In these the honey isn't over powering at all. The sesames really take centre stage (if that was a consideration!)

    Can I eliminate the sugar? Would they still turn out ok?

    • @totallysacha
      @totallysacha  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      xxGuItArGiRLxx89 Hi there. Put simply no. There'd be nothing to 'solidify' - you'd just have honey with sesame. Even if you effectively boiled it down, honey doesn't solidify. Just gets sticky. So nope. You'd need the crystalised sugar to make it work. Sorry.

    • @xxGuItArGiRLxx89

      I thought so. I will make them as a treat. They are very popular in the middle east, because we love extremely sweet desserts.
