With this music playing, I’m waiting for an alien or ghost to pop out, but other than that one can easily substitute the white sugar with molasses as many do that as well. Plus add a pinch of salt to your honey and molasses mixture. I would also suggest to gently score it halfway through its cooling process so that it would be easier to cut. Adding a little sesame oil to your spoons will help when you’re trying to spread it out - but just a few drops... 👽 🧡

Tip: use a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper to spread it out on and get straight lines.

My mom used to make this when we were growing up. No honey though. She added chopped almonds to the sesame seeds as she toasted them in her cast iron skillet. She added sugar cooked until she thought it was ready, based on the color then she spred it out on a white marble slab. Once cooled she would break it up. More likeca brittle. It was so good. She thought her Italian father got the recipe from the middle east.

The sugar can be optional since the honey is very sweet alone or just cut back on the amount of sugar.

Nice recipe. Good high ratio of sesame seeds to sweeteners. So you are getting much more sesame seed taste. Thanks for sharing. Many recipes have too much sugar so they are more of a toffee bar. This recipe is much better, like a proper sesame seed bar.

You can use equal parts honey and sesame, heating the honey until it reaches 125 to 130 degrees Celsius. The ancient greek recipe didn't have sugar in it. Unfortunately I haven't tried making the original recipe, so I cannot tell you if the end result will be crispy or chewy bars.

Everything is o.k Instead of honey add jaggery or brown sugar which contains plenty of iron .The minerals rich sesamum and the iron rich jaggery , blended together will compensate the iron loss and mineral deficiency due to periods of every month and will save the women folk from anemia. Should avoid during pregnancy and desiring to conceive.

I love crispy sesame bars, and I normally find cooking videos very relaxing - cooking videos were how I got through pandemic anxiety without having a mental breakdown... so when I clicked on this, i was expecting a very relaxing experience.... but the music choice is odd... it's not loud, but it's like something you'd expect from a computer game where you're sneaking around a haunted house or scene where someone is very carefully defusing a bomb 😅

Not sure if cheaper. Bag of roasted sesame: 3 euros. Good honey: 7 euros. So 10 euro total. I can buy half of that tray for 4 euros in the supermarket so 8 euros for the same amount. So supermarket is cheaper. Maybe if you buy sesame and honey in bulk. Also supermarket brands ad glucos too.
