I think it’s probably named after Holly Golightly from “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” But having recently gone through a colonoscopy, I can see why you don’t want a lip gloss with that name. 😬
I love these videos so so much, makes me think about my collection and how to go through a similar process. I view my makeup collection as a living, breathing ecosystem that deserves tending to and cutting out the parts that are not contributing to the system. anyway, I love your content, its so wholesome and lovely

I would think that the paddle turning green would have to do with metals in the glitter oxidizing, but I have a humanities degree and haven't done any research so who knows
I actually posited this out loud when I was filming and then I cut it out for the same reason (all humanities no research). I emotionally FEEL like that's what's happening to my lip gloss, like a copper sculpture getting a patina
@@HannahLouisePoston I came to the comments to see if anyone mentioned this! I had the same issue with mine and it was the clear version so I'm not sure why this happened?? But i got skeeved out and tossed it...
Hannah have you seen the new Glossier bronzer Solar Paint? I am more excited to know your thoughts and review than the actual product! The lightest shade might be light enough for you.
I'm new to the gloss world, but my favorite one I've tried so far is the NYX Butter Gloss in Cinnamon Roll. I wish the formula was longer lasting, but I just love that taupe/purple/brown color. 💜💚💙
I was needing a replacement for the Milani Ludicrous gloss, and the Revlon might be it. Feel like 2001 with my love for glosses these days. Just bought the mini Juicy Tubes and can't wait to wear them!
Another incredible helpful review. I've been super interested in glosses recently and have been thinking about what to get the next time I get some. I love a super nourishing gloss that I don't have to fuss with.
I have not purchased the Tower 28 clear gloss with sparkles, however I do just have the normal clear gloss from them (I think it's called Chill?) and I do not experience that issue with the green applicator. I've had the gloss for over a year now with no issues, so it must be something weird with the sparkles.
This video was so fun. And it also reminded me about how much I love this Maybelline Lifter gloss in Crystal! I think you'll love their shade Moon, it's like Fenty's Fussy but much sheerer
i'm really excited that i'm awake for a morning upload, even though this is later than an early wakeup and than the uploads from like two years ago that i watched on my way to my friday 9am college classes, because it feels like a sort of reclamation of pre-covid life that doesn't assume things are "over." That's a really big irrelevant dump but i'm excited for this video both for its literal content and its symbolic resonances! I'm glad you get to love lip gloss and have fun shooting a video about them in a format you've mentioned enjoying!
Have you tried the ILIA balmy gloss?!? I just got a mini in the sephora favorites collection bundle, and the thin glide and supremely comfortable texture and gorgeous sheen was seriously mind-blowing. Based on this video, it sounds like the kind of gloss formula you would absolutely *love*! Just wanted to mention in case you haven't tried it. The formula is on the more pigmented side, but the neutral nude shade might be perfect for you, and really, you might still love the more pigmented ones in this specific formula. I've never experienced any formula like it--the next day I went back and got a full size of a different shade, it's just perfect for summer!! 💗
I'm more of an opaque gloss person, I think, because they're more like a liquid lipstick but without the matte finish. That said, I also love the (sadly discontinued) NARS Velvet Lipglide formula because it's not matte like most liquid lipsticks are but isn't shiny like glosses are.
I really admire how easily you can declutter your products. Your declutters always inspire me to go through my own collection and try and do a declutter of my own but I often get emotionally attached all of a sudden or I'm swayed by the beauty (even tho I never use it) or I feel guilty cuz I spent a lot of money on that product and therefore I end up not getting rid of anything or I do but then the next day I change my mind and put it back in my collection. I would be really interested if you made a video/series on how to overcome this emotional attachment / guilt hoarding.
I also prefer a sheer gloss, my favourites are the fenty gloss bomb in hot chocolit and the colourpop lip oil (it's a thin sheer gloss lol) in the neon orange one. Highly recommend both! I dont own much gloss because I tend to just use the ones I love all the time, almost out of the fenth one now
I'm the same with gloss I can't deal with an opaque or pigmented gloss. To me an opaque gloss is a lip lacquer not a gloss. My favorite glosses are those with just a hint of color. My bottom lip is substantially larger than my top so when I rub my lips together lip products have a tendency to smear outside the top lip line. I end up looking like a 3 year old applied it lol. So sheer is the only way to go and not look messy.
my clear tube of the tower 28 gloss also has the green colour happening on the applicator. It’s had me freaked out so I googled it and apparently its common, but others are saying their clear tube is fine soooo it might be time for me to chuck mine :(
I have the Tower 28 clear gloss and the applicator turned blue/purple! I have been careful to never apply over a lipstick with the wand directly so it is definitely something with the clear base formula… it doesn’t really bother me, either, but it is strange!
I like highly pigmented lipglosses. My lips have less pigment towards the middle and depending upon the day the line between the two colors can be pretty stark.
I realised I also like more sheer gloss. The clear ones, and the lightly subtly pink coloured ones are the most flattering for me. I stood in a drugstore and swatched all the Lifter Glosses in the store, and realised that the 2 light pink ones were best for me, as I went through the reasoning process that went as follows: It's gloss, its not going to last long on my lips. If it's more pigmented, that will look patchy more quickly, and more obvious more quickly. A lighter colour will work better and be easier to apply just quickly swipe-swipe while sitting at my desk. And I bought Gummy Bear and I forget the other shade name... And im very happy with having only 2 glosses in my collection.
I've had the clear tower 28 gloss for a year and a half and my doe foot is not green! it's also still tasting good so considering there's been questions as to the longevity of some of their products i feel confident saying the glosses are lasting a good while.
I love lipglosses that stay on and also give some color. Also I love lipglosses that don't look streaky me. Dark colors and reds seem to be what I have the hardest time with in regards to that.
I bought the revlon glosses after this video and I LOVE the color of indulge in it but it looks a little patchy. Wonder if Hannah has any videos using it for tips!
I recently bought the Earliglow gloss from Erin’s faces and was surprised to find no strawberry smell with mine. Might reach out to Erin’s faces and see if they changed anything about the formula or if I got a dud somehow? Still love it and use it all the time, but I’m one of those people who loves makeup products that smell nice and was most looking forward to that when buying this lip gloss. We’ll see what they say. Love, love the whole vibe of the company also. The owner seems like such a lovely person!
Hi Chelsea, I had the exact same experience. Loved the colour and formula but it smelled bad, like crayons. I emailed customer support and they said something like "you probably are just used to the way artificial scents smell and the lipgloss is scented naturally, it's impossible it went off because they were recently manufactured" (not a direct quote) which I thought was pretty rude and weird. They gave me a coupon for the amount that the gloss cost and I got a different colour which smelled good, like strawberries and peppermint. I was miffed because I had to pay an additional 7 dollars for shipping, making it a 32 dollar lip gloss (plus shipping the first time) but I want to give them the benefit of the doubt because I really like a lot of their products and I appreciate their brand mission. So anyway, it's worth emailing customer support because they might give you a coupon and there clearly WAS some issue with the scent going bad. (Also it might vindicate me as not being the only one)
@@sarahzachs-adam8136 hmm, good to know it’s not just me. I had my husband and a coworker also smell it because I don’t have the best sense of smell and they both said it smelled like nothing. Like makeup, basically. Maybe I’ll try another shade as well? Thanks for sharing your experience!
Same!! Wow, weird. I ordered two different glosses and both had that "flavorless" crayony taste and no smell. I was so ready for strawberry smoothie goodness. I probably wouldn't have ordered two if I had known :( I do love the formula, though.
I only have three lipglosses...I've always felt like it's a tool and I don't need more than a couple. Now I'm kind of questioning that because I have very pigmented lips and I could use something that tones them down while giving a bit of shine...The original fenty glossbomb does that for me, but I've had it since it launched. Might be time to try something new...
The Maybeline lifter is the second thing I have ever bought based on your Review. The first one was the UD stoned vibe. Both things you didn't love but I foking love! But I do have to admit that I do love the two other colors that I got after this because yeah, it's a bit weird. Buttt. I have almost used the OG one up and I think it suited my skin color better in the winter. So yeah, love it but the milky versions are even better!
What I do with the tower 28 glosses is do a coat of the completely clear one (Chill) and then a coat of whatever color I want to wear. I agree they’re too pigmented, but I love how it feels. I have almost all the colors, and I’m not a collector of makeup- Right now I have like 7 of the tower 28s, one rare beauty, and two iconic London glosses, and that’s it. And no, the clear color doesn’t have that green thing with the paddle. I’ve gone through two of them already.
I finally picked up a Maybelline Lifter gloss, (in the whitish/clear shade) after hearing much hype, and I have to say, it is nice. I don't like the shimmer in many of them, though. I also am really on the lip oil train these days. I got the Pomegranate and Cranberry one from Ulta that's almost clear, upon the recommendation of Andrea Matillano. I literally just finished placing an order with ColourPop right now for one of the new neon pink lip oils, and I recently got Bengal, which I like a lot. I can't wear lipstick. I don't know why, it has just never, ever, ever flattered me. So I'm trying to up my lip color with glosses and oils now.
I love lip gloss! I grabbed a Lisa Eldridge one as soon as I could but I have to say I'm disappointed with how sticky it is, I find it really messy :( it looks great as long as I'm working from home and I have my hair up though haha
I've bought a few milky pale pink glosses, like Fenty Sweet Mouth and they just don't suit me. My lips are pale and blue toned so milky glosses just enhance to deadness of my lip color. I like the brighter shades of the tower 28 glosses though. The orange one is my favorite.
I love opaque lip glosses, they give me a lipstick look but hydrating and fresh. I am not a fan of sheer glosses I feel pale and that my makeup is unbalanced in them.
A little surprised to see you supporting hourglass. I’ll leave it at that because I don’t think I have to explain why. You’re channel is amazing and I love it for how mindfully you usually speak about the things you purchase or review.
@@HannahLouisePoston thanks for doing the research. I assumed, incorrectly, that everyone had heard about their deliberate decisions to continue to leave out shades for darker skin tones and stifle all critical comments on their social media. I’m hoping more influencers will pause on their reviews until they show a range of products that are inclusive.
@@HannahLouisePoston something very interesting about the hourglass situation is that when you go to Sephora Paris or to any other Paris make up cellar that has our glass, many women of different color find that it works just fine on their skin tone. They are pretty sassy about how American women don’t understand how to use the product and are creating a cause out of some thing that does not need to be a cause. I have also seen multiple people of color use the hourglass products without any complaints. Some interesting food for thought
I bought the Em Cosmetics true gloss in the shades Truffle Haze and Caramel Glaze a long time ago and they were actually separate purchases bc i thought the first one i got was a dud. But from the moment I opened them the paddles were green and the gloss itself smelled terrible. Everyone raves about these glosses but I'm afraid to try them again. Has anyone else had this experience?

The Lifter Gloss in Ice is the best lip gloss at the drug store. Please give it another try. And this is coming from a guy who doesn't wear make up. It is fuss free and extremely plumping.
I have the hourglass unreal lip gloss in a darker berry shade and it is my go to winter gloss. So hydrating, so thin and not too goopy, sheer but has that shiny glittery gorgeousness. I enjoy the minty smell cos I love mint, but I think the mint is supposed to be plumping? Not sure.
I don't think I've ever had a gloss that had less than a 9 month expiration (and that was an all-natural brand), 3 months is CRAZY fast! But yeah, I definitely have glosses that are past their listed date and I should do better at only keeping a few open at a time too. It's a good practice to apply to everything cream or liquid!
I really dislike the phrase "letting something go" when decluttering. It sounds way too generous for the act of dumping something. I understand the desire of having fewer nicer things but we should keep a little bit of a guilty feeling around when trashing things because we made a bad purchase.
I mean a lot of people "let something go" to someone else who might like more, but I totally agree with your point. I've been keeping a list of things I remove from my collection before they're done, and why, so that maybe I won't make the same mistakes again.
@@emme4129 yh true, but I think with lipsticks that's a bit tricky and I think youtubers have learnt to pick their words wisely, which in this case would have resulted in a "pass it on" :) Don't get me wrong, I love Hannah's content and the fact that she usually does not encourage purchases etc. I just didn't like the euphemism. Great idea with you list btw:)
The thing is it will be trashed eventually anyways. It’s okay to toss a product when we’re done with it. The key is to buy less, be more mindful in our purchasing.
sure, but one key ingredient in buying less is to maintain a slight discomfort with tossing almost unused products. I'm not saying not to toss, I'm just saying not to make it sound as if its a good deed
I think some people are naturally more inclined to wear a hair shirt than others. Personally I find that all the discomfort comes in owning something that isn’t right. By the time I decide to declutter makeup, I am generally glad to see it go.
Does anyone else LOVE the little clicks noises in the sped up portions
I love it too! I love declutter or organizing videos in part for that reason!

I've bought a few milky pale pink glosses, like Fenty Sweet Mouth and they just don't suit me. My lips are pale and blue toned so milky glosses just enhance to deadness of my lip color. I like the brighter shades of the tower 28 glosses though. The orange one is my favorite.
I would love it if you included pictures if you wearing the glosses or lip swatches :)
Me not wearing any lip gloss. Me also watching a lip gloss/ranking video because it’s, Hannah.
They have a bunch of Maybelline lifter glosses plus new ones.
I think it takes a special mind set to even rank your makeup. If I tried this I’d suffer from brain paralysis and just stare at the table. Haha 😂
I prefer a sheer gloss too.
I love opaque lip glosses, they give me a lipstick look but hydrating and fresh. I am not a fan of sheer glosses I feel pale and that my makeup is unbalanced in them.
The Lisa Eldridge gloss was the least glossy of ALL of the swatches.
Omg so sad that you don't like the Maybelline one. Those are my absolute favorites.
A little surprised to see you supporting hourglass. I’ll leave it at that because I don’t think I have to explain why. You’re channel is amazing and I love it for how mindfully you usually speak about the things you purchase or review.
I wasn't aware of the issues with Hourglass but I just looked it up! Thanks for the info.
Posted 44seconds ago, amazing~
i love my LE lip losses but as well don't like the applicator. it s little bit to harsh on the lip but more on the lighter color.
Wondering what part of the south you are from?
I love sheer glosses and not really a fan of opaque ones.
Can you show your filming set up for this, I never seem to get it right when I try
ooooh it's a whole thing. the key is this C-stand: rstyle.me/+Q-oK2PlZV5khxfTpb8bk5Q which is what the camera is clamped to

The Lifter Gloss in Ice is the best lip gloss at the drug store. Please give it another try. And this is coming from a guy who doesn't wear make up. It is fuss free and extremely plumping.
Moon is also a FANTASTIC shade. Definitely my favorite gloss ever.
Not sure.
I only open 2-3 glosses at a time since you're supposed to toss after 3-6 months like mascara
