    It's interesting how many commentors there are taking Jacob's joke at the beginning completely seriously. I guess if you're not familiar with his drawfee persona then it's not as obvious, but I think it's a shame that child artist would click away from the video immediately and leave feeling dejected. So even though probably no one will see this, I decided to timestamp couple times where they reflect more sincerely on childhood art:
    8:51-9:55
    12:01
    25:11
    39:40
    I think their insights on the appeal of childhood art are really poignant.

    As an early childhood major, I can say that a drawing done with that level of definition (for a 3-year-old) is beyond amazing! Many psychologists actually say that's a sign of above average intelligence. If it is an attempt at a self portrait, it also is a clear indication that you were intellectually developing at an increased rate.

    This video is very inspiring as a reminder to take wisdom from kids!. It's easy to forget that you can just draw whatever you want. Kids just draw anything even if it doesn't make sense, and they don't particularly mind what it looks like. They simply draw what's in their brain and they're happy. At some point in life I forgot that I'm still allowed to do this, so watching this video inspires me every time, I come back to rewatch it often. I love Nathan's kid and adult drawings in particular, and I would love to buy a print if I could!! Thank you for the good art everyone :)

    After seeing(?) Johnny No-See, I just came here to say this:
    Johnny No-See is the most accurate invisible person in all of fiction everywhere because the only reason you can see is because light is refracting through your eye's lenses and projecting an image on the retina of your eye, and if your eye were transparent (invisible) then none of that would happen and you'd 100% be blind
    Good job Baby Jacob, you did a smart!!

    • @altofmoleperson
      @altofmoleperson 3 ปีที่แล้ว +64

      Question; if someone is invisible because their body is somehow refracting light so that they appear invisible to the human eye, but they’re just refracting light, could they still see?

    • @QuantumWaltz
      @QuantumWaltz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +87

      @@altofmoleperson Good question! If the retinas allowed light to pass through them at all, then vision would be greatly diminished. Additionally, refracting light bends the path of the light, so for a while after becoming invisible in that way, what little vision the invisible person had would be distorted and inaccurate to the world. Humans can adapt to distorted visual input after a time, though.

    If I hear anymore negative self talk from Nathan I'm going to lose it, because Nathan and his art is incredible, lovely, warm, friendly, and fills me with joy. It really sucks to hear someone so incredible doubt themself so much, and I feel like it's been getting worse over the last year or two. It went from a few self deprecating jokes to a genuine issue with self doubt.
    This video is the line, Nathan you have to start treating yourself better. Bullying yourself is no longer acceptable. Buddy you gotta break this behavior because it's just going to get worse, and effect your mental health more.
    Love ya Nathan!

    • @widdershins3785

      Well, it's self-depreciating humor. It's all in fashion this (looks at invisible wristwatch) ...2020. Can't really blame anybeing else's psyche heading south. But I agree. These are artists we're witnessing here. I do have to genuinely wonder about what Julia's repressing... you learn a lot watching how people draw and I can pick a fair bit of, uh, Intense Humbling here.

    Here's an idea: Netflix loves to do live-action versions of anime, but what if you guys reversed that and drew anime versions of live-action tv shows? (i.e. The Office in the style of Naruto, Friends as Yu-Gi-Oh, etc.)

      I think it would be more interesting if it they chose the style based on the live action show they were drawing rather than it being part of the challenge, because then they’d have to think about what kind of anime the show would be rather than just drawing those characters in a specific style.
