Russ, thanks for the heads-up. It looks promising. Currently, popping out panels (in MSFS) reduces the FPS count significantly. Do you think this streaming technique would resolve this problem? Thank you.
On XP12 it seems to be slightly better than the pop out windows but there is still a fps loss. Some guys say running the monitor showing the pop outs in MSFS on the computers internal graphics port( needs to be enabled in the bios) is much less fps hit. I have not tried this myself.
This is a great step forward, I was successful in creating the PFD and ND for the X737 V7, I will continue to do the rest but the Air Players that are current do connect to the Air Manager yet. It will be great when it does. Thanks for the Fantastic improvement. Edit: I gather that is the way to send the stream to another computer, is that correct?
Hello Russ. Excellent solution. I now want to isolate the instruments in this way and show them on a dedicated display. I have a problem that when I change XPlane to display only scenery on the main display (Forward with scenery), the instruments do not work. I would really like it, as I don't want to see a panel on the simulator screen. Maybe you can help me. Thanks!
Yes unfortunately the cockpit must be displayed or X-Plane doesn't create the display images. One solution would be at use a second computer to run your cockpit (the graphics could be set way down) as the master, and the other couputer as the external displays running scenery only. It requires two copies of X-Plane 12 though. The cockpit computer doesn't need a lot of power as it it's scenery can be a very low settings since it will not be seen except foor the streamed displays.
Russ, I got everything working, however, I was unable to get KNOBSTER to work on the bezel. In the setup it says that knobster is disabled and there is no drop down selection to change this. Is knobster not supported with these new bezels? All the knobs and buttons work with the mouse. Will the bezels work with a touchscreen?
Russ, I have even done a step by step procedure about the video, and it is missing a step! When I try to get the image of the texture it simple does not work. No texture, no cockpit. From creating the instrument and pulling the right texture file, there is a missing step. How do Air Manager knows which texture or file to pull? Am I missing something? My Air Manager is Home Use Ver 4.2.6.
Question for you, I'm using B737 zibo with your panels, was working fine with my touch screen on the same pc as X-Plane 12, Just bought Air Player and Install it on a mini PC with my Dual touch screen, all the other Panels I have work fine, but the 2 Zibo B737 MIP Right and Left are not showing up at all. Any idea?
Currently the pop out windows have to be dragged to a monitor hooked up to running XP. Starting in Air Mgr 4.2, due in a month or so, the pop out displays can be streamed to another computer. There is a working beta for AM but zi font think Air Player has a updated beta version. I need to modify my Zibo instruments to include the displays that stream the PFD and other displays. I will look into that today.

Since I upgraded to Windows 11, I have been having trouble with my Air Manager instruments randomly disconnecting and reconnecting. Possibly installing Air Manger 4.2 might clean up whatever is causing this glitch. I presume that apart from the added features for XPlane, Air Manager 4.2 will retain the existing features of 4.1 so that creating and editing in MSFS is the same.
If you switch to 4.2 beta it will install as a separate app with its own instruments. and won’t affect your non beta install. Be sure to install the latest beta plugin in your sim from the wiki. The plugin is backwards compatible to support 4.1 too.

Hi Russ, I just installed Air Manager 4.2 (BETA 21). I planned to insert the video stream code you describe in this video. In Air Manager, I downloaded the Cirrus Vision SR50 panel. The PFD and MFD both have the message "This is an overlay only. It requires the flightsim GPS popout." Then, in X-Plane 12, I booted up the SR50. Air Manager found the SR50 immediately, but I didn't have to add any code or popout anything. The PFD and MFD displays were automatically there, in the Air Manager panel, without my doing anything. Did Sim Innovations itself add the necessary video stream code to the downloadable panel?
Yes they modified the instrument to automatically stream the video on XP12 using AM 4.2. It really is easy now. I think the text on the startup screen could reflect the fact that once the sim with that display present is opened it will stream to the AM instrument. Now that was a pleasant surprise huh?
1. When is AM 4.2 coming out? I've been watching videos about it doing all of this amazing stuff, but haven't heard of a release date. 2. Are you saying that, when I pop a G1000 PFD/MFD to a touchscreen from Xplane, I won't have to put the instrument in a bezel and the Knobster will still work? 3. I'm lost. 4. MSFS really sucks...and that's a shame because I thought XP does, but MSFS has proven to be worthless for me.
I should’ve said on the video that the beta is available on the same elevations wiki, as well as the plug-in upgrade that is required. The good news is you can install the beta and run it alongside the regular release version without problems. The plug-in is backwards compatible so you can jump back-and-forth from one version to the other without issues. You will still need a bezel to use Knobster with the G 1000 but no pop outs needed since the video stream will be part of the bezel.. or more correctly called the G1000 instrument since it will be complete.

@@ilioplaton4842 I have no noticeable delay. Do you stream your image to another PC, or do you have your second display on the same PC. I have mine connected to the same PC.
@@matthijsmulder nice!
I‘m running everything on the same machine.
I‘m just confused as to why the dedicated streams (G1000 for example) work fine and if I take parts of the complete panel they lag and are not usable… fingers crossed a newer beta version will improve this!
@@matthijsmulder That's pretty cool, I've tried doing that myself but it just results in a white space, I'm guessing I'm doing something wrong. Would it be possible that you could share your modified code, if Russ approves? Thanks
Where shuold this line of code be entered?
Thanks, very informative!
Hi Russ, thanks for the great announcement of the new capabilities in version 4.2.
But unfortunately I can't find any beta version for Mac to download.
Does it not exist yet (if not, when can it be expected?) or did I miss something in the wiki?
I would be very happy to get some feedback.
Usually the beta is done on windows and then a MacOS build is done on just prior to release
@@rbarlow Thank you for your quick reply. Is there already a date in sight for the MacOS version? I am so excited about this update ;-)
When is 4.2 scheduled for release?
It is available as a late beta on the Sim Innovations wiki..... be sure to download the beta plugin and install for your sim too.(beta is windows only now)

Thanks!
will this work on xplane 11?
No only XP12 AND using the Air Manager 4.2 beta or release when available (estimate a month from now)
Great video !
I am afraid Microsoft will not add video stream support to their flightsimulator. They have shown little interest in cockpit builders.
They follow the $$ and that is with casual gamers. They placate serious simmers though to keep us from bad mouthing MSFS. Just MHO
This is 3 hours long can you make a simple video on how to display MFD on air manager?
You must be on loop. It is a 24 minute video on my computer,
Hi Russ, I just installed Air Manager 4.2 (BETA 21).
@@rbarlow Very pleasant, yes. I enjoy and learn from all your videos, Russ. Keep 'em coming.
Fantástico.
let me show how easy it is.. (dives into software and codes).. Not easy enough.
If you are technical enough to build a home cockpit you are technical enough to do this
hello! your videos are great! thank you so much.
if i want to contact you for co-work, how can i contact you~? i don't see any infos on your pages :D
You just did. You could contact me at the address srbarlow320 which is at the domain gmail and is a dot com
@@rbarlow yeah you are right!
I just sent email. I hope i would get a reply :D
