So, when Tool composes their songs, they will write the music first - then Maynard James Keenan will write his lyrics/vocals in reaction.
For these 3 tracks, they were originally all written together as one piece of music at over 20 minutes long... they were later indexed into individual tracks for the Lateralus album's release.

I usually don’t post my theories by I’m going to go ahead and do it. There’s a reason Tool never released their albums on Spotify/Apple Music/etc. it’s because the albums are supposed to be listened to in full. Also. The lyrics, as amazing as they are, are just 1/4 of the music. If it was me, and I was listening to tool the first time, I would close my eyes and hit play on the first track, then let the entire album play, and experience the album as a whole. Then afterwards, look up lyrics and listen again. Two different experiences. It’s the way I think they (tool) meant for it to be experienced. They are a once in a lifetime band and that is still plAying them down. They are literally a once in a forever experience. No one comes close to the experience they make. There’s a reason there’s a “cult” tool army. We aren’t a cult following. It’s just now everyone else is starting to realize the genius in this band. They will forever be, the greatest band ever. And I’m saying over zeppelin, over Pink Floyd, over whoever. This band is truly perfect, in every sense of the word.

I think that’s definitely part of the reason, but I think it’s a split among the band members and Maynard pointed that out the last time he was on JRE and joe mentioned that and Garth brooks he doesn’t want his stuff broken up. I feel like Carey was the main one in opposition of it because FI he wanted to be one singular song and I’m pretty sure these 3 were originally one song. Plus Danny is the one that talks about reprinting everything on vinyl. That’s just my thought idk if it’s right but to me it makes sense

The point is to not think. Mention anything, doesn't matter, watch weather change and nothing else. Don't miss enjoying the forest because you're focused on the trees.

Love that you guys reviewed some of their lesser known works! Tool is a whole land unto itself, one that requires the wide range of travel in order to encompass that landscape wholly. Also, ya'll are such a joy to watch!

I always interpreted the weather as a metaphor for "mood"... an inner weather. Imo the song is saying what you say no matter what, good or bad, big or small, it affects the world around you; the people around you, it affects their weather. Because the "I don't care what people say" is always a lie. You may act like you don't care but it affects you no matter even what even if it's only to make you ignore it. So to me this lyrics say, in a very peotic way, "be mindful on how you affect the world".

The eclipse is happening now btw, also, a Dijeridoo was playing tonight, at the local beach, Christchurch, New Zealand
Fire and drum circle with fire-dancing. Supposedly a spiritual marker of new beginnings tonight

I got to say I really appreciate your guys's analysis of the lyrics specifically. I watch a lot of reaction videos for tool because tools IMO the greatest band that ever existed and you guys really do a good job!
