May 2021 here. Yes, that's still my favorite part of the video. We're still recovering - and the recent freeze didn't help a damn thing. Burst pipes, SBA loans... It's not fun living in Houston lately. I was training for the Chicago Marathon the year Harvey hit - and the smell of soaked drywall on the sidewalks sitting out in the hot sun for days and days is a smell I won't soon forget. Rich, poor, Harvey didn't give a crap. It hit everyone equally. Mucking houses... The Cajun Navy was awesome though.
What's sadder is you are looking at the Houston Aquarium in the background where the Ferris Wheel is, which lost it's maintenance systems during Harvey - and staff couldn't get in to check on the sea life, so alot of them died due to this flood.
Holy fuck that's a lot of water. And BTW, I understand you Americans complain about your own infrastructure/construction deficiencies, but you still have the best that there is. You guys rock.
Yep 57 inches of rain in my town. 4 feet of water got inside the house for 4 days. We stayed in 6 places afterwards. We got about $55 K damage and just under $20 K for repairs from FEMA.
I walked over there a couple of weeks after the storm. Dead squirrels everywhere and sediment on top of the bridges which are 20+feet over the bayou...I tried to tell people water went over the overpasses and walkways over Buffalo Bayou. They would react like yeah...okay...sure it did. Here is the proof. Unreal how fast the water rose on Saturday night.
Astonishingly huge volume of water in the city. Unimaginable really. The first responders were heroic in saving so many lives. This is only a foretaste of what will be coming in the future sadly. 💦😷🐾🇺🇸💦😷
@t3dwork: I'm a researcher in the Dept. of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Louisiana State University working on developing new techniques for quantifying flood hydrographs? Could we use your video for research and educational purposes at LSU? Thanks in advance for your consideration. --N.H. Jafari
i walk this path to park my car and both sides of the sidewalk pathways are impossible to walk when it rains and when it floods this was one scary rainstorm hurricane..
sadly its not over yet hurricane irma is predicted to be way stronger then harvey and it could go up the east coast or, could even go to houston. stay safe everyone.
I think I speak for everyone when I say...... ffffuuuuuuuuccckkkk........, never in my life have I seen water rise so quickly or to such a height in such a big area like that
Hi there, I work at ABC13. I'm working on a story about this spot flooding and the water entering the downtown garages. Could I use your video with permission to you? Thanks for your consideration!
GoPro is amazing. The guy made it just because he didn't want to be charged an crap load to take a picture while driving a race car. Something so simple yet smart to make and market. Selling it less than that stupid pic they tried to charge him for.
The reason why the water took so long to go down is because there was no sun to evaporate the water and there no where for the water to go :( Edit: also the main place for us is beltway 8 that goes all around Houston had a hugeeeeee I mean huge sink hole and it was also very scary because there is probably cars or people down there 😬😬
Hi, my name is Syed, I am a local filmmaker in Houston working on a documentary about Hurricane Harvey. Over the last few weeks, I've had the chance to help rescue residents from flooded neighborhoods as well as interview public officials and victims of this terrible flood. I've also had the chance to work with Fox News while out in the field. I saw your video on reddit and I would love to include this video in my documentary. I will give you proper film credit for providing this footage and a free digital copy of the film once completed. My goal is to get this documentary submitted to film festivals to show the world what Houston went through during this tragic event, and how everyone was able to come together and help each other. Please let me know if you would be interested in participating, I would love to include you in this film project. Please let me know! Feel free to reach out to me by email as well: syedhasan1027@gmail.com. Thank you!
Well that escalated quickly
Too quickly
I shared this on my Facebook. Is unreal how much water Houston got!!! Thanks for shooting this time lapse and sharing it.
Thank you T3d for the awesome stream and this video! Stay safe and stay dry out there!
I love how the music changes as soon as the water overcomes the sidewalk and floods....
Whoa, it stayed flooded for a pretty long time
My favorite part is where the water went down

Harvey really proved wind isn’t everything
You're right. So much devastation, the majority of it water. Not something I'd like to repeat
Awesome time-lapse, thank you!
Oh, and PS thanx for having the time-tracking on it. Very helpful.
Cool video. Watching this on August 27, 2018 at 10 pm - one year later.

What equipment, software, etc was used to take/record these images and put together this movie?
GoPro took one frame every 60 seconds, then dumped it all in Final Cut - i.imgur.com/F9PSUsg.png

Can’t believe it’s already been 6 months! Buffalo Bayou was my favorite 🤪 Looking forward to start going again I haven’t gone ever since Harvey 😟
Water will always find its way. God bless Houstonians❤
There’s no reason for the music to have such good timing lmfao
Love the music. What is name of song?
Great job, Teddy.
Most of the time hurricanes pass by and are gone within a day, harvey just stood in place, dropping more and more rain.

Its that ignorance that can get people killed. They should know better.
I think this tropical storm was more devastating than Category 4 Hurrican Irma tbh
Oscar Saucedo because it was
I stay in harris county. Im still in shock.

Damn good time lapse.
So many of my co-workers and family members have lost so much from Harvey. Houston's not going to be the same for quite some time.
sadly its not over yet hurricane irma is predicted to be way stronger then harvey and it could go up the east coast or, could even go to houston. stay safe everyone.

am i the only one kinda disappointed when the water receded, i mean how often do you see the water that high
What is the music? Love it
4:34 I remember that ray of sunshine
How much space did the whole footage take up before editing?
12 gigs maybe? It was an mp4 based timelapse, if it had been individual jpegs it would have been much more data.
my friend lives super close to the buffalo Bayou and her house got flooded

Do the trees die that get submerged?
yes, yes they do
No, it's fresh water. If it was salt water yes. Galveston had a bunch of trees die after Ike because of saltwater.
