@CYB3R2K30 I hated 7 as well _in flat screen._ However, it's one of the best VR experiences out there. I highly recommend everyone plays through it with the "Praydog" VR mod for PC.

I think the idea was to have blank character so every gamer can immerse themselves as the protagonist without making character creator. This way they avoid any drama about lack of trans, poc etc. in the game - use your own imagination to create your story. It was like that in almost every japanesse RPG in the old days - bland, young, male, silent main character - same as most gamers. It works in japanesse market, not so much in the west where we like much better strong and defined characters like Snake, Kratos, Lara Croft.
Lady Dimitrescu really should have been the Jack Baker of this game. I can't stress it enough. The matriarch of the castle overseeing the village as she puppeteers the different monsters that roam the region, while preparing a ceremony under the command of her own mother, the family's elder.
I thought she's gonna be Jack Baker, Mr X and Nemesis who will stalk us throughout the game. But, nope! She only stalks us on her own castle and she died in the boss fight. I don't get why you complained about the supposedly jerky movements of the enemies in RE8. I thought the Molded in RE7 were notably more frustrating enemies to land headshots on than the Lycan or the Ghouls in RE8.
With the reveal of Lady Demitriscu itself, I already knew the game was gonna be lacking in horror. No way you're making a frightening game with a literal giant booby lady
A lot of reviews are literally saying it's one of the scariest RE games. You need to play the game, because it has much more than just Lady D. There is a moment in the game I can't spoiler but you will literally take your headphones off and not look. This game has many different types of horror.
I think the game is still horror in some aspect. Theres 4 main houses with a leader you need to face such as Lady D but considering her appearence she was never going to induce any aspects of horror. However, one of the houses is led by some creepy doll lady in a spooky ass house and its reported to be one of the scariest parts of the game.
"Big woman with boob cannot be horror." Meanwhile, RE2 has a roided Inspect Gadget going around incognito mode looking like a very out of place prom date and people didn't complain
I've yet to finish the game, but I think it had a great balance between the more slow, headshoty type enemies, and the fast ones. You have to deal with the lycans with a sniper shot to the head while they are howling, and when they get close just use the shotgun. It's more variety to the enemy types and the way you approach a combat scenario. I like it.

I can't get over how solid these reviews are... I came from TLOU2 wave, but I feel like I can say these are objectively the most coherent, accessible, pragmatic, informative, and entertaining video game reviews on the internet (that I've been exposed to). Even the self-awareness to acknowledge personal preference doesn't immediately equate to 'DIS GOOD' / 'DIS BAD' is a sorely lacking quality in the space, and it's appreciated.
RE9 should have a bit more focus on horror but with the same level of exploring and weird boss personalities. Ethan grew on me quite a bit over the journey (he may be a wet blanket but he's my wet blanket, bro)
He didn't say that liking RE7 was a minority view, he specifically referred to thinking it was the best of all of them. That's a big distinction there.
RE7 is well regarded as the one who revived the franchise, still, it doesn't mean the entire experience is great. Slow pacing and horror is back, but at the same time it introduces one of the worst protagonists in recent memory, the first person camera who only truly works in VR (this is the natural evolution for horror games in general, but it still far away sadly), bad gunplay, etc
Erm.... My 2 cents : Re5 and Re6 is some of the best co-op survival horror fun I've ever had so for you to say you pretend they don't exist really doesn't sit well with me... Incredible replay value. @Itch-HeSay dont worry, I've been motivated to make a video titled "How to ACTUALLY play Re8"
I really liked RE Village, but it definitely felt like it was concerned the player would get bored if it didn't throw enemies at you every few minutes. So much of the arcadey action stuff could've been excised in favor of more atmospheric, explorative horror as in RE7.

I'd rather be going to the puppet lady's house first, then to the swamp, then to Castle Dimistrecu, then to Heisenberg's factory and finally Mother Miranda.
@@margarethmichelina5146 I thought she was the big bad and didn't even know about mother miranda or any of the other 3 lords because all the ads and the demo were about tall lady

I personally came to really like Ethan throughout RE8, he was a blank slate during RE7 but they really turned his character around and gave him something in this game. Overall I enjoyed the story of RE7 and RE8 and how they intertwined with themselves as well as the rest of the franchise. Looking forward to REmake4 and RE9 already.
would you highly recommend re8. I really liked re7
re8 plays like a re4 version of re7 so if you like those gameplays it's definitely worth playing!
if you mainly liked re7 for the horror and story tho, re8 feels noticeably weaker in both compared to re7, maybe even disappointing going so "over the top" trying way too hard to redefine the overall series lore/narrative by the end?
@@vinayak5159 Yes. I'd especially recommend it if you liked 7 just for the story elements in 8 that tie into 7
@@vinayak5159 if you liked RE 7 for the creepy vibes and the horror factor, avoid 8. 8 is kinda like call of duty with werewolves and weak puzzles :/ I only would play it if you like FPS type of games
@@vinayak5159 I’ve only played REmake, RE2make, RE7, and RE8 so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I like it! And I’d recommend it very highly. But it’s not really what I want out of RE. Killing the enemies feels good, beating bosses feels good, but it kinda shouldn’t for it to actually be scary. Just my opinion! TLDR, yeah! It’s pretty fun but not really all that scary.

Yes because re2 giant inspect the gadget is scary....
I like it.

Mercenaries isn't a free add on... It's a game mode ! Which should be expected ! Its just not ok that in today's day and age we are surprised at a game having an additional mode..
SkillUp at 15:45 was like: "Wait. This TH-cam, not a fanfiction site"
Actually all your cons are making me want to play it even more;P
But it's like You said - You didn't like but for the fans of RE4 (like myself) it's probably gonna be awesome!
when I heard the game are more bigger, semi open world, resource management and balance between horror and combat. I dig it ! Story never a strong point of Resident Evil to begin with.
Last acting role of Jeanette Maus who sadly passed away after an eight-month battle with colon cancer, a few months before the release of the game
The Dimitrescu name was chosen because it is similar to Dracula, which comes from the Romanian word "dracul", meaning "dragon". Lady Dimitrescu's final form purposely resembles a dragon.
If the players never or rarely visit the Duke's store during their playthrough, he will make angry comments about it when they pass by him.
One of the bonus weapons that can be unlocked in the Mercenaries mode is a lighstaber.
Lady Alcina Dimitrescu's face is based on a Polish actress named Helena Mankowska.
It’s like Dunkey always says, the power of a reviewer is consistency of voice. Even though YOU didn’t like the game the way you’ve still recommended it and the consistency you do so with other games has told me that I probably will enjoy it.
as a romanian i confirm that your lady dimitrescu is quite good, just add the u at the end and you are perfect
Correct!
I truly dont why nobody pronounces it right. In dutch and even i know you should pronounce the U.
@@niek3839 Don't expect much from Americans
@@catenjoyer76 since when is Skill Up American? 😂
@@nikitasavtchenko4418 I said that cause I've seen mostly American TH-camrs pronounce it bad
The real talent of promoting Lady D was completely taking the spotlight off Karl Heisenberg: The actual MVP!
Remarkable review btw
That quote about how they intentionally toned down the horror aspect of Village is just straight-up depressing.
Looks like capcom works in cycles to appeal to its multiple fanbase
Yeah that's really turned me off to this. 7 got me into the series, and was one of the best horror games I've played. What I did not want to hear is "you remember all that stuff that made RE7 surprisingly good? Well we got rid of that, enjoy!".
@@Lord_of_Dread I had a problem re 7 was scary for me so I didn’t play the game😂😅. But I liked re 8 bcz of the balance
@CYB3R2K30 I enjoyed 2, 4 was where everything started going wrong for the series IMO
Unpopular Opinion: RE:5 is a Great Resident Evil, let me know if you agree.
It would have been as good as re 4 if they had cut Sheva as a forced partner
I agree resident evil 5 better than resident evil 4 to me
Nah it’s not unpopular OPINION ITS FACTS the best part was co-op
Started playing this last night. So far I find it incredibly underwhelming. Wtf is with the shooting? It feels very... just bland. The handgun has no kick to it and no impact at all when shooting enemies. And the movement makes me nauseated. The way they have tried to add in weight an inertia to the head movement really makes me feel ill after playing for 20-30 mins
Yea i get your point the gameplay feels weird like not fleshed out enough also the sound effects should have been better they feel so not cool (handgun feels like tapping on an empty wooden box)
13:38 LMAO that cracked me up and is so true. Even after all the action he went through in RE7, makes you think right?! By far the best review. Thank you for this! 👍
congrats on showing again that:
"Not everything that is good I like and not everything that I like is good"
I think 8 is the perfect blend of 7, Remake2, and 4. It’s great.
From boat analogies to fanfics that supersede reality... that's why I've been subscribed all these years
