Just got back from Abruzzo ourselves and also doing renovations- tried to make a day trip to Roccaspinalveti but roads were really bad and closed. Good luck with your renovation, it’s looking good. 👍🏻🇮🇹

Great to hear from you! Thanks for watching! Hope you had a good time in Abruzzo! Sorry about the roads. You’ll have to make another day trip when you return. How are your renovations going?

Great news on the renovations! Thanks for putting this video together! Did they send you a photo showing the horizontal pins going in / installed? I zoomed in on the photo that shows the rebar for the new foundation: can see what looks like horizontal white cylinders that might be the pins, but none of these are visible in the near side of the photo (so it’s hard to tell)…. If you are comfortable telling us, it would be very helpful (for those of us contemplating doing similar things) to know what this foundation fix cost. If not, no worries!!! Happy for you that this huge milestone has been completed!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Deb! Thanks for watching. The total cost includes other works as stairs, windows, doors is about €81,700 VAT/Tax included. We are very happy with the works, so far we have had a great experience renovating from abroad. Thanks for watching!

Are you able to share the cost of these types of repairs? It might be important for someone looking to buy a "fixer upper" with the idea of getting a cheap house in Italy. Knowing the cost of structural repair might help put things in perspective. That is some amazing engineering solutions!!

Why didn't you buy a house that didn't need all this troubles, what is the point in buying properties like this that need work?

Hey Omar! Thank for watching! That’s a valid point. Even under the best circumstances, there are always the potential for a few unexpected expenses.
In our case we considered many things, such as location, price, budgets, a 5 year plan, and future retirement plans.
Based on those factors this actually ended up making the most sense for us, especially since we were not taking out a mortgage.
It was very economical to purchase it as is and then make to what we want over time.
This may not seem like the best way, and we understand that, but it is what is best for us and we love it. The community could not be more friendly! We been given much guidance from people who live there and understand the history. They’ve advised us on what will be good to grow in the garden and when to how it as well as ways to keep our place to show its history while still being modern.
      It’s definitely been an adventure!
Thanks again for watching. We hope you enjoy and continue!
