I really appreciate you saying you're not as against at-home colouring anymore. I totally get why people are. The thing is, for some of us, it's at home colouring or no colouring. I went to a salon once for a proper colouring job - I LOVED the result but I have really long hair and that ended up costing me $500. When I have $500, I can't really explain not using it to pay off my debt. I just can't. So if I can try it at home with moderate success for $50 just to feel a little pampered and new, I will. It's not that I don't think it's worth the $500 - it is. I have just made choices in my past that mean I have to make sacrifices now.

I completely agree with this.. I have always got hair dye from Sally’s beauty supply and did it myself. In January I finally decided to get my hair dyed at a salon. It costed me $250 🤦🏻♀️ I’d rather spend $15 at Sally’s

The type of dye he used was essentially just pigment and conditioning agents, so the dye can’t really hurt his hair, unlike the bleach. I’m terrified to bleach my own hair, but using direct dyes is much less stressful.
