Is because they're just toning! If they had to bleach their hair or used box dye (that has bleaching agents) it would have most certainly gone very wrong.

As someone who's successfully dyed brown hair red with koolaid, here's a better long lasting method: The water you add to dissolve the koolaid will be diluting the solution-- I skip the water and just mix it into pure conditioner I usually go for an ombre type style-- so I dip the ends of my hair into baggies of the conditioner-koolaid mix, rubber band my hair, and leave it overnight (seems risky but just be cautious) Rinse the next day-- gave me FIRETRUCK glowing red hair. No boiling water required. Lasted like 4 months too!

You can actually do this on dark hair! I did it when I was a kid with red and it stayed in and VERY vibrant for about a year and a half. Granted that might be because we did the tips and the tips were really damaged by chlorine since I used to be on the swim team. I plan on doing this again soon (and I haven’t been swimming like I used to for MANY years), so I’ll probs update this and say if it truly works or not😂

unused channel nah, but the girl didn’t go up to her scalp either. If it’s a straight style, I stay more toward the ends. But in cases where I’m using flexi rods on most of the length of the braid, I dip similar to how the girl did. Except using a cup lol.
Kool aid and and boiling hot water makes the dye permanent, many people use it to dye wool. It is not lightfast but it is wash fast. Both hair and wool are protein fibers.

I know this is all about the technique, but I have no life in quarantine & kinda wanted her backstory! I love that the flavor blue is just "blue" -- nothing to do with nature! When my daughter was little we dipped the ends of her hair in cups of hot water for 20 minutes. She just laid on floor with the cups behind her. You use unsweetened koolaid. The darker your hair the less likely it will show. We found that black cherry showed up best in her medium blonde hair. Blue didn’t show at all except on the extremely blonde pieces. Definitely use conditioner after or you end up with straw hair!
Listen to me and the other reply..I did it myself in high school and that shit never faded and I had to cut my hair. Maybe you want that, but if you don’t maybe try a leave in conditioner color you can find at target. They fade out and are great for your hair.

For instance, if I want it curly, I’ll put it in rollers and dip it to hold the style and to make the curls stay. Without it, nothing would happen and the braids would unravel.
@@marinavam3942 air dry or towel dry. The heat is what changes it, so blow drying could reverse it (if curled) or cause damage because it melts the fibers of the hair. Braid hair is usually synthetic.
I think it's that you used the sweetened Kool aid and not the pure one. I remember you tasted it and said it was sweet but when I always heard about using it, they had used unsweetened.

unused channel nah, but the girl didn’t go up to her scalp either. If it’s a straight style, I stay more toward the ends. But in cases where I’m using flexi rods on most of the length of the braid, I dip similar to how the girl did. Except using a cup lol.

Kool aid and and boiling hot water makes the dye permanent, many people use it to dye wool. It is not lightfast but it is wash fast. Both hair and wool are protein fibers.
I'd be really curious how many washes this lasts through.
I feel like it lasts for like two washes at full color, and then about 600,000 more at a really gross washed out level. 😝

I know this is all about the technique, but I have no life in quarantine & kinda wanted her backstory! I love that the flavor blue is just "blue" -- nothing to do with nature! When my daughter was little we dipped the ends of her hair in cups of hot water for 20 minutes. She just laid on floor with the cups behind her. You use unsweetened koolaid. The darker your hair the less likely it will show. We found that black cherry showed up best in her medium blonde hair. Blue didn’t show at all except on the extremely blonde pieces. Definitely use conditioner after or you end up with straw hair!
It absolutely does work on dark hair if you use red (cherry flavor)

Listen to me and the other reply..I did it myself in high school and that shit never faded and I had to cut my hair. Maybe you want that, but if you don’t maybe try a leave in conditioner color you can find at target. They fade out and are great for your hair.

@@marinavam3942 braiding hair acts almost like a plastic. Dipping the style into hot water molds it to the desired finished result. For instance, if I want it curly, I’ll put it in rollers and dip it to hold the style and to make the curls stay. Without it, nothing would happen and the braids would unravel.

@@marinavam3942 air dry or towel dry. The heat is what changes it, so blow drying could reverse it (if curled) or cause damage because it melts the fibers of the hair. Braid hair is usually synthetic.

I think it's that you used the sweetened Kool aid and not the pure one. I remember you tasted it and said it was sweet but when I always heard about using it, they had used unsweetened.
