    My plan of action would’ve been:
    -cute haircut to get off the split ends and start fresh.
    -protein treatment
    -Demi permanent color to even out the ends while the hair is grown out and repaired.
    -hydrating treatment to balance
    -grow out hair until healthy enough to potentially go blonde.
    Hairdressers, what would you do?💖

      Hi Brittney! First off all, you look gorgeous ❤️ second, this video was very well explained and educational. I have a question I hope you could help me with, but it is a little off topic so I'm sorry in advance. My mom had a heart attack 4 years ago, and after having so much medication, operations, hospital visits and changes in her body and hormones, she since has very thin, almost straw like hair. She used to have very healthy, thick, long and voluminous hair but unfortunately there's nothing left of it. She let our hairdresser cut it very short to grow out healthy again, but after 4 years and many haircuts later, it does not seem to get any healthier. She already did some treatments (don't ask me which, I don't know anything about hair 😳😳), bought different haircare on recommendation of the hairdresser, tried numerous masks, oils and vitamins for hair and nails. She regularly gets a haircut to keep it healthy but nothing seems to work. She tried leaving it alone for a while but that also did not do much. My question is, do you know anything that might help her? Anything at all? She's at the end of her rope and she's feeling very uncomfortable and embarrassed about it, and it breaks my heart to see her like that 😔 she's lost a lot of confidence. I'm really sorry for my rant but I don't know what to do anymore. Thank you very much for your time and amazing videos, you put out great content ❤️😘

      I just wouldn't go to you then. Why would I pay you money to not listen to what im saying? I'd rather have my hair fucked up, than have a "hairstylist" telling me what they're going to do with the hair growing out of my head. I don't pay hairdressers to tell me what to do with my hair (traditional methods of hairstyling is actually damaging). I pay for the style and process. My hair has suffered the most damage and has been in the worst shape FROM LISTENING TO HAIR STYLIST. My hair was in the worst condition during the time when I went to the hairdresser the most. To this day, I'm still trying to recover my hair.

      I see girls get mad when they go into salon with fried hair covered in box dyes and ask a stylist to make them icy blonde. Saying no to protect the integrity of someone’s hair is the responsible thing to do. Then if/when it comes out like crap, they blame you like you can magically negate the damage they’ve already done.🥴

      IT👏LITTERALLY👏 DIDN'T 👏MATTER👏 she was planning on shaving her head prior to the appointment and didn't care how much it was bleached, her hair was already damaged when she came in and Brad mondo warned her it wouldn't keep it's integrity.

  • @safidraws9499
    @safidraws9499 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6647

    So for people wondering: She made a update earlier this year, explaining the situation.
    Basically she already intended to shave her hair because it was so damaged and she specifically requested to go platnium blond for like the short period until she did that.
    She was 100% aware of the consequences and Brad and her knew that it really didn't matter since she was planing to shave it anyways.

    Omg this video had me hooting!! You were super respectful, girl. For context, totally agree with everything you said about biracial hair - I’ve actually figured out how to wrangle it myself (5 months of no heat and I had a full fro going on) and stopped going to hairdressers entirely because it had taken me a decade to get things right. Unfortunately, I’m also a huge fan of bleeeeach blonde hair, and I’ve had healthy silver hair a few times in the past, but only ever gave it a go on either 1. Virgin hair after one of my many pixie cuts, or 2. After months and months of TLC and no heat - even then, I always know that my curls will deflate and I’ll have to give up some of the integrity of my hair, so usually I choose between color and fullness. Brad made sure to tell me that as well before we got to bleaching.
    I definitely don’t hold anything at all against Brad because he was crazy kind and followed up multiple times afterwards to see how my hair was faring, but the mix of box dyes and bleach really came for my neck hahahah (again, more my fault than anyone’s). I’ve never been attached to my hair (I’ve been wearing wigs on and off for years!) I’m shaving my head on my channel this week and starting fresh ☺️

    I am a Caucasian stylist. I agree with everything you said. I super agree that if you are the parent of a mixed or black child learn you baby's hair.
    I had a poor little girl with beautiful long locks come in after her white grandmother took her to a salon to get a perm. They put an Asian type relaxer on her and her hair matted up. Then instead of trying to correct the problem the stylist proceeded to cut the mattes out.
    My co-workers and I spent 4 1/2 hours combing her hair out to have to cut it almost all off because the previous stylist left chunks of her hair cut out. I was mortified. But grandma started bringing her to us and with in months she was the smiling happy girl again.

      @Aw-ns1qx 5 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      Good on you guys for taking the time to help and make her feel good. I'm glad the grandmother saw the care and love you took with her grandbabies hair.
      I never thought about it before as I cut my own hair and my mom did before I could. I have been to a stylist two times in my life.
      I have curly/wavy fine hair and hated it and as a young teen used relaxers that destroyed my hair, just to have it straight. And that stuff would make my hair like an elastic band.
      I guess I have learned my hair, but never thought about those little girls with beautifully different hair not having the resources or someone with the knowledge to work their hair.
      Also I live this womans no hate attitude, I have seen the guy in the video and think he is a very sweet guy, and this woman is a sweetheart as well.
      Nothing but love to all.

    • @patriciaparrish6357
      @patriciaparrish6357 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@neonpinkpeace we used a leave in conditioner with a wide toothed comb. Starting from the ends of your hair and work your way up. The tangles won't be as bad to eliminate because you aren't starting from the root and dragging. Also with Native Course thick hair, (My brother in law has this issue) when you lighten it you have to go in stages. Your natural hair color level is probably a 2 or darker and it just isn't safe to lighten from 2 to platinum or even Sandy blonde without dealing with the slightly less comfortable red tones first.
      P.s. DO NOT USE A BRUSH ON WET HAIR. this really goes for any hair type but if your hair is fragile from color or texture chemical processing you will essentially just break the hair at the tangles.

As my hair grew longer it became more difficult to keep up and to my moms credit she took me straight to a salon. She would literally be the only white person at the shop but she didn't care. I agree. I love Brad's personality but I don't think he's the greatest or most knowledgeable hairdresser. For one thing, he is always talking about doing roots first and then the lengths. I just can't wrap my mind around why he clings to that, it makes no sense to me. I suppose you can always do a shadow root to cover the hot roots but what if the client doesn't want that? It's just easier to bleach the lengths first and see how high they lift, then follow with the regrowth and wash it out when it reaches the same level or maybe one darker than the lengths. I agree with you, he's an entertainer more than a hair expert, imo.

    I accidentally came across your channel and saw this video. It's amazing to hear someone talk about mixed hair and understanding how fragile our hair is. I searched high and low for a beautician who could do my hair, and I never found one in my younger years. It wasn't until a few years ago that I learned about my hair. Now, I do my own hair, and I learned to love my hair. I now know I'm beautiful the way I am. That took a long time for me to realize that.

    As a mixed race woman myself, I didn't know how to deal with my hair until my 20's. I literally wore a braid or bun until a hairstylist friend taught me how to work with my curls and how to straighten it if I want. It is so important for parents to learn to style their kids hair. I HATED my hair for my entire childhood. Which didn't need to happen.

    Brittany stop apologizing, almost 10 mins of this is you being worried about people attacking you. If people don't like you let them unsubscribe and grow tf up! I want the truth that's why I'm here. Anyway I agree with you, I'm subscribed to Brad too and didn't like this haircut. Even my curly hair wouldn't react well to being bleached that much in one session and I'm white. I have super curly hair and you can't do silver platinum in ONE session. He's doing this new series of makeovers which is fine but sometimes, especially curly hair, it can't be "finished" in one session unless you're dying it a dark color or just styling it.
    Anyway that's my truth, my opinion, screw anyone who wants to cry about it!

I never understood why until a year or two later when she told my she didn't know how to cut "Caucasian hair". I laughed thinking she was joking (I'm nieve) until I realized she was honest. Up until then I hadn't thought that through, and she never said it up front because she didn't want to make me uncomfortable. The small percentage of white that I do have does effect my hair. My hair is kinky, but doesn't hold protective styles or braids well at all. A couple years ago I wanted a change of color. My plan was to lift the color over a period of several months with a lower volume bleach. Even though I knew I should have left, the hairdresser (who was mixed) told me that she could do it in one take. Thank Jesus she only did the ends on my hair. I cut that shit right off. He did not accidentally wreck her hair. It was so easy to find the "root" of the problem before posting this......BUT it could also just be damage control. I don't know. Only they do. Maybe he did wreck her hair and she just agreed to restore his reputation with her explanation. I don't know if it makes sense. If it were me, I would have prefaced the situation and explained this.

    As a guest/client, I now completely understand the importance of going to a stylist that knows how to work with your hair. I have coarse, thick hair that has not the most flattering wave to it, and a lot of stylists don’t know how to work with the density, or layer and take out the weight correctly, and I hate any blunt lines in my cut, so it was quite the challenge for me in my younger years.

    Brad is super entertaining and cute but I noticed a loooong time ago that he's not good with hair. He can't do braids or style anything. He doesn't know how to apply color. He says over and over again not to put bleach on roots first (common knowledge) but then does it on her? Like why. I stopped watching him as much because even as someone who isn't a stylist, you can tell he's not a stylist or not one with experience at least. I started doubting him a long time ago. Again, love him, he's entertaining, but nobody should be letting him touch their hair 😅

      Brandy I am in no way defending him I do not like his hair stuff either but he put it on her roots first because it was virgin hair so it’s not going to lighten as fast as the already bleached hair even though it was her roots. Also like he should have know that her hair wasn’t going to take the color evenly because he bleached her hair so much And he should have said as a stylist, I am not comfortable doing your hair or something else 🤔

      OMG for the love of Ray J. will people *_stop_* saying that BS about “virgin hair” already. Hot roots have *_NOTHING_* to do with virgin/bleached hair. It’s literally just as simple as: your scalp heats bleach faster because it’s warmer. That’s literally it. If you bleached a whole head of virgin hair, you will STILL get hot roots because your roots (scalp) are warmer-and heat processes bleach quicker. Only time you don’t need to worry about hot roots is when you’re only bleaching a small amount of new growth. If you’re only going up like an inch, there isn’t enough length for the heat to make a difference.

    • @eelramirez6123
      @eelramirez6123 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@misterwinkybluff5930 hi I am a licences cosmetologist what I was saying is that he started bleaching her roots first because that was the least bleached part of her head, (even though it does produce more heat.) Assuming he wants the ends and the roots the same level he would have to leave the bleach on longer even though it is her roots. When hair is bleached it lifts the cuticle and it absorbs things more quickly, another reason to not start on the ends. But also by bleaching her hair so much it made her hair have different porosity in spots which is why her hair was splotchy blue towards the end.

      Yes , most people who do not have their cosmology licence Dont understand the science of hair. Let me tell you it is so so based on science , chemistry, and because we work on others , physcology .. Brad is highly highly skilled in his chosen profession and has a stronger education in hair then most people in the profession. He grew up in his dads salon. Having been exposed to the science and skills at such a young age, then having that longtern practical skill really puts him on another level in his profession. Merry Christmas :)

    I'm so happy and thankful you've brought up the nature of different types of hair. I have been dreaming of going to beauty school and learning hair due to many of my relatives being biracial and seeing them struggle with their hair. I have one cousin in particular who has the most beautiful curls I personally have ever seen and she hates them. When we were little we loved sleep overs and my mom really worked hard out of pure love of we 7 girls to make sure we all loved our hair when we would play beauty shop. I'm older now with a little girl who loves her cousins as much as I love mine and I decided because of all my babies (I call them mine, nieces and nephews, god children) I want like my mom to do their hair and for them to love it, They inspire me so much. I decided to audit some classes with several schools including some branded schools in my area. I want to take care of my girls and I feel like none of these schools have addressed hair with texture enough. I want to be able to really knowledgeably care for every single person who graces my chair in any way they want their hair styled no matter what their ethnicity and I am really having trouble finding a school that will truly teach me how. I'm getting worried! Do you have any advise for me? Please and thank you.

    No shade to Brad or anyone else, but I think that most of the time, if you’re biracial, you’re probably better off choosing a black or Hispanic hair stylist or at least a hair stylist that works with a large number of non white clients.
    In my experience, black/Latin American people tend to have a much wider range of hair textures so a hair stylist who caters to this clientele has to be a lot more flexible and knowledgeable of a lot of different hair “situations” so to speak.

    • @bb-pp1py
      @bb-pp1py 5 ปีที่แล้ว +39

      very true. I've been to hair stylists that fucked my hair cause they don't know my texture and then I've gone to a stylist that took one look at my hair and was like "... you've got hispanic in you i can tell by your hair texture" and they did the best job on my hair cause they knew how to work with it

      This is so true!! I’ve gotten the most horrendous haircuts because when my hair was hip length and longer, my curl wasn’t obvious. So the hairdressers would straighten my hair and cut it. I wanted to try and get curls by cutting off most of my hair and I went to my mothers hairdresser Maria. She layered my hair WITH the aspect of CURLS in mind so I did not have choppy layers. I am so thankful I went to her, otherwise I don’t think I could’ve mentally prepared for short, choppy hair. I don’t let anyone else touch my hair and doubt I’ll go to anyone else for a long time.

      I totally agree with you I have gone to a white hair stylists and they didn’t know how to work with my curly hair they straightened my hair when I asked but it wasn’t fully straight and it was more stiff I went to a black hairstylist which is now the only hairstylist I will let do my hair and my hair was amazing and not damaged at all after she straightened it and it was so soft.
