One of the best videos I’ve seen yet. You clearly did your research very well and I will be using your video to guide my application. Thank you Connor.
If you scored in the LOW UCAT band this year, don't worry! Your dreams of becoming a doctor are not over! Check out this video for universities to apply for with a low UCAT: th-cam.com/video/S-c1q5wsMG4/w-d-xo.html OR if you scored in the HIGH band, check this one out: th-cam.com/video/ljIllccpRDs/w-d-xo.html
Hi ! Thank you for the great video ! I scored 2530 - Band 1. I have a strong set of GCSEs, 10A* & A in Maths. To get a high chance of getting an interview, where would you reccommend I apply ? I ideally had Birmingham down, but I don’t qualify in accordance to their offer calculator.
Hi Teresa! If you’ve had a look at their offer calculator and been told they aren’t likely to interview you I would suggest you continue your research into other medical schools. It’s always appropriate to contact their admissions team directly though if you have any follow up questions!
People who get 660 plus are potentially safe to apply for Leicester if they have really good GCSEs. Any lower UCAT than that, you probably don't have a chance because their local scoring system cut off will be higher.
Yeah it's really hard to put a specific number on it each year unfortunately , as you don't know the UCAT scores of other students applying to each university
Hi there I got 2710 and good GCSE's (9A*/A** one A) and good predicted (A*A*A) however I got band 4 in SJT. I was thinking of applying to barts, Norwich, Southampton and a BMAT uni. what do you think my chances are? and do you think there would be no chance for me to get into KCL (realistically)
Hi Farah. Unfortunately, despite your good grades and relatively strong UCAT, that Band 4 SJT scuppers you when applying for some universities. I’ve tried to make it clear when a university doesn’t accept Band 4 in the three videos about UCAT applications, have you had a look at all three?
Hi this video was great and super helpful!! I got 623 with a band 2. I have 6 9’s and 2 8’s in my gcses and would really like to apply to birmingham university. what do you think my chances are?
Birmingham loves a GCSE! They make up about 60% of their scoring system and an 8 or 9are scored the same. You can check out their exact policy here: www.birmingham.ac.uk/schools/medical-school/applying-to-medicine/selection-for-interview.aspx
They often do, but that doesn't mean they are any less competitive. If you meet the selection criteria, then some of them do have a slightly lower grade requirement or UCAT threshold each year. With contextual offers you can also sometimes receive an interview with a slightly lower UCAT or grades too
And the AR & SJT? How’re you finding those sections? DM and QR are hard! QR especially, lots of people can DO the maths, if only we had a little more time per question
Hi, I applied to the following Universities Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, St Andrews. My personal statement seems competitive. I'm applying for undergraduate entry 2022. My UCAT score is 2250 and band 2. My higher grades were AAAAB and predicted grades AAAA in advance higher. I'm a widening participant ( LEAPS and REACH). First from family for higher education. My reference seems really good. What do you think my chances of getting an interview / offer? I'm really stressed about it.
Hi Fariya! Thanks for commenting. That sounds like you have really competitive grades in advanced highers, well done 👍. Good job on the band 2 as well, that will put you in good standing. Your UCAT is on the lower side, so if the universities love the UCAT you may struggle to be competitive unless they use your widening access status to weight your UCAT score. Unfortunately it’s impossible for me to say if an individual will or won’t get an interview. My advice is to 1. Focus on your studies and getting those predicted grades and 2. Start doing some light prep on interviews, as the first interviews sometimes start in Nov/Dec for some unis
Hi.... I'm regularly watching your videos, it's quite interesting and informative. My daughter is studying standard 12 in CBSE board. UCAT 2450 SJT 2... like to apply as international student. Which university she can? Appreciate your help Thanks
I am. not super certain about the international entry requirements this year. Best thing to do is think of some unis that you (or your daughter) would like to apply to and then have a look at their websites to see how they are ranking applicants this year. Unfortunately, they do change their rules and move the goalposts each year
this yr i got 2720 b2 on my ucat , i got VR-570 , dDM-580 , QR -740 , AR-830 . I performed well on 2 of the sections and not as well on the other two , would it be worth applying to UEA because you had said that UEA looks at individual scores , so because i have not done as well on the two of them would that be disadvantageous despite two of the sections going well .
@@ConnorDibblin Hey connor!very helpful video btw, Since I'm an International Non-GCSE student applying to Nottingham, they're only assessing my UCAT. I'm scoring 96 points out of the 120 on the UCAT. Is it worth applying?
Hi Tanujj, have you had a look at their website for previous years interview cut offs? I can’t see much information on international applicants, so maybe it would be best to drop them an email?
Hello. I averaged a total of around 600 in my UCAT but I have strong GCSE’s which gave me a total score of 56/64 on Leicester’s scoring system. Do you think I have a chance of being offered an interview with this score or should I reconsider applying to Leicester?
Hey Kweku! In 2020 I think the lowest scoring applicant who was interviewed scored 55 on their scoring system, but it changes each year and I haven’t found statistics for last year. I think you should drop their admissions team an email and ask.
Hi Nush! Those look like great GCSEs and a solid UCAT! As I’ve said in some other comments, as I don’t work in the admissions department of a uni I can’t comment on an individual’s “chances” of applying to anywhere specifically. If you watch the three videos I’ve released and check the links provided, hopefully you’ll see that that’s a competitive application!
Hi I wanted to ask if this also applied to international students applying to the UK or do they have different requirements and cut off scores for internationals, thank you
