Once we were having a discussion over Blur vs Oasis and a friend said "Oasis won against Blur, but Damon won Against both om them"
and we all come to agree with him

Weren't blur more inspired by the kinks than the beatles

Graham has said recently that when listening to modern life is rubbish he hears lots of kinks influence, and i could be wrong but im pretty sure gra is a big beatles fan as well

I think to be inspired by one is to be inspired by the other, and guys like them might say they’ve been listening to the Kinks more at the time when in all seriousness there will always be that underlined influence by the Beatles on every great band to ever exist

      @TheFakeyCakeMaker ปีที่แล้ว +1

I don't think there's any British Indie that exists that can't claim inspiration from the Kinks.

Blur being wealtyh middle class was a complete myth, Graham and Damon both went to a comprehensive school

I’m a long time blur fan, I’ve supported them since the nineties and I have to say that this is a great video! Very clear, nothing incorrect, and a pretty good summary of their career. Nice work!

Naming Damon “lead vocalist” and Jamie “one of the artists” of Gorillaz is massive underselling

The press and Oasis (creation press office) completely played up a perceived class difference even though Oasis and Blur went to comprehensive schools

"I ended up being a milkman in it." - Graham Coxon, 3862 Days. That doesn't sound like the words of someone insistent on wearing a milkman outfit.
However, the Universal Graham apparently only did 1 day of shooting (i believe it was a 3 day shoot) and then locked himself in his trailer with his gf. My source on this is director, Jonathan Glazer who proclaimed there are stand ins at points in the video.

Since I was a kid I like Gorillaz because my dad has Demon Days and a Singles Collection and there was a time where he played it in every opportunity he had, than when I was 13 I tried to find the band to create a playlist and I became addicted to it, somtime later I heard in the radio song 2 and then I tried to play it on the bot of discord while in call with a friend who also likes gorillaz and he said that the song 2's band was the original band of the vocalist of gorillaz so I decided that I would listen to all of their discography just like I did with Gorillaz and that's the story of how I fell in love with Blur

Boys and Girls was the breakout hit for me when i started to dj house parties and dive bars in Chicago in the early 2000s. My Punk and Soul nights slowly began to incorporate britpop because of this.
Parklife will always have a special place in my heart. However, Out of Time from Thinktank and Pyongyang from the Magical Whip have become my overall favorites

I became a huge fan in middle school, like a year or so before The Magic Whip came out
I remember my mom listening to some of their stuff when I was real young, so I decided to take a deep dive into it, and became a fan

Wow you smoothly fit so much information into quite a short video, great job! i've been in love with blur since early 2015 but i had no idea about the two earlier bands they were part of, I didn't know more Blur history could fit in my brain lmaoo. Thanks!
Also Graham Coxon as opposed to Damon Albarn liked a lot of american music and you can really hear that he was given more freedom on the Blur and 13 albums. So people who are into Grahams style of guitar playing should definitely check out his solo work. It's so good and you can't sum it up because each album has a different vibe to it, his new stuff with The WAEVE sounds really promising. I just think Graham is terribly underrated in lots of ways lol

I’ve always had a major appreciation for Damon, as his work on Gorillaz was what inspired my middle self to finally start making music. So much of how I approach composition today can be directly linked back to him.

I was there - Blur was £1.99 or thereabouts - and Oasis cost £3.99 to buy - EMI did a deal where the record shops got 1 copy of Blur and 2 copies for free - whereas Oasis was full price per unit - ergo - Blur's song was a lot fucking cheaper to buy in Woolworths
