I have joined a Facebook crochet group and I feel like those groups would be perfect to find pattern testers. People there are super supportive and friendly and I am sure would love to test out patterns. Just an idea. 🥰 Love this video btw
THANK YOU for including tech editing! I’m a tech editor and also a pattern tester; I loooooove both aspects, but I TRULY can tell when the tech edit step is skipped. It really makes a pattern next level quality and user friendly, imo. Another excellent video, Annie! Thank you! ☺️🫶🏻🧶 hugs - Lisa
This really is perfect timing! I'm in the middle of writing my first pattern right now! It was really intimidating to start at first, the imposter syndrome is real 😅 but I'm having fun with it!
Oh my gosh this is PERFECT timing!!!!! I am currently in the process of designing my first ever pattern and quite frankly, it's a little intimidating to do the actual writing and sizing part. I had made a prototype with scrap yarn to see if my vision was even good looking outside of a drawing. I made adjustments to said design while and after completing that scrap yarn prototype and am right now making the first adjusted prototype version of the design with the yarn I wanted to actually use. I'm making notes throughout the process to make my life easier in the end. After completing that prototype, I'm gonna be figuring out and making a larger size of the design for my brother, so that is definitely already helpful with figuring out how to do size adjustments for larger sizes. The size inclusivity thing is definitely the most intimidating thing about all of this, since I really want to do this right, as I understand how frustrating it can be for plus sized people to find designs that actually fit. And because the actual making of the design, is really beginner friendly, I don't want beginner crocheters to immediately have to face the hurdle of not finding things in their size. This was something that I really took to heart when Toni from TL Yarn crafts mentioned it. Anyways. I really appreciate you making this video!! Thank you!!!!
So much great info! I’m nowhere near designing but am definitely going to appreciate all the thought, and effort you pattern designers put into your designs.
Thank you for sharing all this insight 😍 This video is really making me consider to write down and publish my pattern for the platypus I send you❤️ Also I love to pattern test and would definitely enjoy helping out with testing if anyone wants or needs it ❤️🥰
this was such a super insightful and encouraging video!! one crochet goal of mine for this year is to finally sit down and start designing my own pattern, but it's such an intimidating task that i'm almost paralyzed from just going ahead and starting. this video definitely gave me the push i need to explore and just enjoy the process of creating! thanks so much and can't wait for more videos :')
I am still learning how to crochet, but found this so interesting! I learned so much of what goes into all this! Thank you for sharing so much great info!
This helps so much I have been so nervous to start pattern writing and getting my Etsy shop started. the information you gave us in this video is extremely helpful because I didn’t even know where to start when it came to power in writing. I feel more confident in getting started.
Thank you for being so kind and encouraging-I’m currently a pattern tester and would love to branch out into designing-and I have that crochet stitch dictionary you talked about! Along with a few other crochet stitch books. Thanks again for being awesome 💜
One thing I would like people to know is; any tech editor should absolutely be a certified crochet instructor!! Itherwise you are paying someine who says "I am qualified" years of experience is not the same as the certification. I have been crocheting for 50 years, but I am not certified (yet, but thinking about it this coming winter) I am happy to see your editor is indeed a certified crochet instructor! ❤
Thank you Annie for sharing your knowledge💚 Is there any italian crocheter here? I'm looking for a tech editor that could have a look at my designs in italian language but I cannot find one :( if you have any advise for me🙏🏻
I loved this, exactly what is needed for me right now as I decided recently to venture into the world of design. My question is, for the stitch dictionary that you showed, do you believe it's plagiarizing if you take certain stitches from them, but create your ideas from that? IE like a scarf from one of the patterns, or do you consider that FO and the other elements added make your idea original?
As a beginner what if I write down a pattern of a really common object like a pumpkin and play around with various stitches without referring to any existing pattern? My questions are: who owns pumpkin patterns exclusively and will I be "plagiarizing" if it turns out to be slightly similar to an existing pattern? I'm so scared that my pattern would be seen as copying. I would very much love to begin designing simple stuffs just to get the experience. Help
Just discovered you today. You are too cute- we heard it from you first! Ha 😂 I am wanting to design my first shared pattern (I’ve done a couple projects by winging it but none for others to follow). I would love to trade pattern testing with someone around the same level with me!
I have a bag pattern tester call out rn and I only 2 people have entered, and one originally didn't follow/read the rules so I'm off to a great start lol.
Hi, sorry for the late reply. I'm struggling with something like this. I'm still a beginner when it comes to amigurumis. I learned to crochet a frog plushie on TH-cam, and I don't want to steal the youtuber's pattern. I'm trying to create mine.
How can you ensure that something is truly unique for example you thought Hank was an original idea but I’ve just had a look and immediately found another sitting goose that looks identical
Hi Annie! I love crochet and I'm almost 13 and I designed over 20 patterns!!!
WOW! That's amazing, How do you know what stitches you're using though? Xxxx
Wow!! That’s so awesome!!
You go girl💪
Crochet Queen!❤
Keep going!!🥳
