No substitute for the thrill of having your own (borrowed) money riding on these babies, needing to get obscene returns just to be able to break even and repay your legally-dubious creditors . . . Food never tastes the same after you had to wrestle your financial survival from the jaws of bankruptcy on a daily basis using luxury cardboard. 📈
From the mtg wiki: "Each Special Edition Collector Booster contains a surge foil extended-art rare or mythic rare. In addition, there are double-rainbow foil serialized versions of each Realms and Relics Box Topper. With 100 serialized versions of each card, they're incredibly rare"
Lol, I love how Rudy had to splice the two parts of the video together with capcut, but left the ad on at the end… haha. It was great seeing Rudy finally get a serialized hard and how it blew his mind that it wasn’t a poster card. Congrats on the patreon who did the opening! 🎉👏🏻
Best case I've seen they got every good surge card, lands and artifacts. Ozolith serialized is probably better than every serialized poster you could pull besides the One Ring.
I have no clue what is going on, never played mtg or any TCG but I was so excited watching this…am I crazy or is there a nerd deep down inside trying to get out.
foil one ring poster $250ish, one serialed oz sold last month $400 but i think it higher then that.. the surge is $36 unserialized. gemstone surge sitting around $75 henge surge $60-65 the suroman poster foil up to $120 non foil $50. orc almost $40 anicent tomb surge $90 YAR
I don't play Magic but I am a LotR fan. Picked up 2 boxes of the Holiday Collector, my first Magic cards ever. Getting this Collector because it features the Hildebrant Brothers. Hopefully next year is John Howe, Alan Lee, or Ted Nasmith.
i stop playing at 05-06 .. now i only watch others opening boxes stoped bc i lost every single card i had in a move from house to house every single one of them .
The reason MTG has gone to Universes, is because the current player base is tapped out. The only way to increase profits is the branch out. They are seeing the benefits right now, but the longer this goes, the more the mtg community will be very limited investors and the long term investors will be with other games. Cocks won't matter, because he will be gone and destroying another company at that point. If Hasbro continues milking like it is, I don't think MTG will ever see another time like 2021. The continuous milking and then Cocks treating everyone like peasants. "Oh, you can't afford collector boosters? No cool looking cards for you peasants." "Oh, you can't afford to keep buying every set that comes out? That's okay, we don't need your peasant money."
Pretty sure that the only reason why you can get that card as serialized is because it's a Commander card and there are no poster variants of it. Maybe all the other Commander slot mythics in the CE are available as serialized too?
I haven’t given two-shits about these Universes Beyond products. I haven’t purchased a single new Magic product in almost 3 years. Not because “iTS GoNNa TaNK”, but, because they aren’t interesting. Ive always loved playing Magic, but I’ve also always hated the fan base. 🤷🏻♂️
Same man. Master sets where great, but combined with the insane price hikes and retarded colab products like DnD and walking dead I completely lost interest.
I have been watching you since the Origins set when I got back into MtG. The game piece era has pushed me away from caring about the game but these videos still fill my desire to experience packs getting cracked. Also thanks for shifting the card piles over after I requested it in a comment on a prior video.
started playing in 94 and i stopped buying all standard sets after the UB sets came out and started going all in on UB instead. love the game piece era, cards are affordable and usually look great
@Rudy, was looking for a Sealed case of Lord of the Rings Special Edition. Wondering if you were willing to sell one. LMK, what I need to do. thanks again and keep the vids up.
Serious question: if there are so many crazy surge foils, then don't they just kind of become common and a lot less valuable? Like - Rudy is going crazy on HIT after HIT...but are they really hits if there so many of them. Its just kind of blah to see another crazy shiny thing. Compare this to sorcery TCG which has extremely rare foils, and ultra rare curio cards. Getting a shiny thing feels VERY special.
I haven’t purchased magic in years. Only got back in because I saw the doc who universes beyond. I know I won’t be buying much of the regular sets, but I’ve already dumped close to 2k on doc who, warhammer and lord of the rings. And already got my orders in for fallout. Imma need to chill the f out if imma go hard with master cases for final fantasy
video 22 of me telling Rudy that I'll be in Florida October 2024, and would be thrilled to meet him and the 3.696969% ladies he keeps in his basement =)
People think they know what they want and complain about price for entry, but too short sighted to understand the longevity of collecting cards. People don’t know what they want, and I think the loudest voices tend to be the dumbest.
Yeah you can't even try to explain it to them they get mad. They want everything to go to zero but they barely play the game and don't spend money anyway. Now all our collections are overprinted and devalued to cater to people who barely care about the game in the first place.
I think a lot of the time people don't really think about selling their collections. It's a hassle and also you have to know a lot about the market and intricacies of how to move your cards. A lot of people who end up selling their stuff for the value we want end up going through big stores or online services that buy cards back. It's generally not super valuable for people without the know-how, and I think that's probably why people say that they want the cards to be worth very little. It's funny to me that while Rudy is absolutely right about the "community" being a sham, I think there is a very real market community that loves the game. People get reputations for selling and buying cards, trading, etc. I think this is the kind of community that really matters in the end. The amount of cool people and stories I've heard from people while doing mtg trades far outweighs the positive experiences I've had with playing the actual game.@@LightBender777
You nailed my opinions... I'm a big time commander player, but this year has been unpurchasable... also... I enjoy having value in the cards as well...
Been watching since 2019 and your a big part because I saw some potential In the game and collectible side and my collection is still quite small but Regardless I've been through these ups and downs it's been wild
It's amazing, you open a case instead of one box and get hits. I'm sure this has nothing to do with basic probability mathematics. More boxes = more hits... now that's just crazy talk.
I am happy for the patron. I don't like the fact Rudy uses this opportunity to make these cards look more valuable than they are to sell his stuff. I don't know about future serialized card value... but as long as Hasbro is in charge, the future value of cards will drop. Rudy knows this but paints a different picture.
I'm still here. Been here since 2018. Been playing Magic since 94 (first deck was a present for my 6th birthday lol). I did take a break for a few years when I got into Yu-Gi-Oh! And again when I wasn't able to buy cards or play regularly.
I’ve never been so close to wasting money on mtg as I am now with the LotR collectors. I really really like this product. I’ve even reached out to multiple stores to see if I can buy the bulk from this set.
I am just intrigued by your videos. I have never played nor have any interest. IE, you have some interesting points. Im from the DnD space. My favorite card game was the Star Wars card game that came with Sony OE's Star Wars Galaxies. Was awesome IMO and then they closed it.
TBH, I probably will not return to MTG as long as Hasbro has its tendrils on the company right now. I really like this game, and I understand that corporations are all in it for the money and have no interest above that. But i can't stand behind the public, private, and the long-term damage they have done with their tenure. But that said, i have been a fan of your channel, Rudy, and a long-term hopeful that once i am more financially stable, be a patreon of yours. You're a beacon in the sea of corporate shills, asskissers and apologists for your refreshingly truthful take on the market and the game state. Thank you Rudy! Thank you so much!
Rudy throws a $40 Tutor into the pile and then sleeves a $2 Glamdring. Hahah.
I enjoy the openings because it's something I refuse to spend the money on but get the experence.

Same here. I would never buy any of these universe sets. Not Magic. And to boot, super expensive and even further you can't even read the damn cards.
Same , way too many sets , way too little value.
But I get to watch Rudy's patrons pay to play
Same
26:09. Congratulations to the patron Mr. R Udy
bro thank you

Ty. Much love to Rudy but I can’t take his ramblings anymore lol
I chuckle every time Rudy says 4 nazguls are a playset. You play 9 nazguls in a deck.
FINALLY!! Want to see one of these pulled on your channel, Rudy, and I don't even play MTG!! Congrats to the lucky patrion!!
From the mtg wiki:
"Each Special Edition Collector Booster contains a surge foil extended-art rare or mythic rare. In addition, there are double-rainbow foil serialized versions of each Realms and Relics Box Topper. With 100 serialized versions of each card, they're incredibly rare"
Playing Mtg since 1996 here on the channel since 2018,everyday is amazing and a gift, not planning to go anywhere, mever change Rudy and thank you
Cool to see a hometown player get the first serial card! Also just stoked after watching so many of these LOTR openings to see one hit. Relief lol.
4:49 I love when Rudy puts the card down and you hear that beautiful slide of the unsleeved card
@@elipsorange you understand that surface damage happens from sliding unsleeved cards correct? Apparently not actually lol yeah it’s a real thing.
Getting triggered over something that isnt yours. Lol

That surge foil party tree and Serialized ozolith were sick 👽
During the camera blink Rudy ate 6 serialised Taco's and replaced a couple of packs with resealed ones full of bulk lag.
Ofc they all do that
Best case I've seen they got every good surge card, lands and artifacts. Ozolith serialized is probably better than every serialized poster you could pull besides the One Ring.
agreed although Dark Lord Sauron seems to be selling well too
Congratulations we have all been waiting for that moment 🎉
Took Rudy a good 2 seconds for him to realise that. Nice pull.
I have no clue what is going on, never played mtg or any TCG but I was so excited watching this…am I crazy or is there a nerd deep down inside trying to get out.
There’s a nerd deep down. Now you gotta go start playing and going to your LGS every week lol
Yes, Forth Yeorlingas is $20-30

Another great Rudy Repack. He's such a good actor pretending to be surprised. "Golly Shucks, I didn't even know those came serialized!" 😅
Watching since amonkhet. You’re the best and expose the crooks of hasbro.
7:30 no, been doing this on and off since Revised/4th edition packs were sitting on glass countertops for sale for like $2 each
Yes Forth is a good card Rudy
Serialized Ozolith starting price on mkm is 4500€
Imagine buying that instead of two pieces of Unlimited power. Absolutely wild.
Forth Eorlingas! Is a $30 hit!!
i keep replaying 26:07 just to listen to rudy freak out.
Sleeves the $5 surge Glamdring, but slaps down the $40 Sylvan Tutor. Mr Rudy no!
