Today, we step into the Redbreast PX edition. This is one of those NAS whiskies that our gut response was to skip but we heard it was pretty pretty good...and well it is. Join us on Patreon @ / topshelfwhisky
Irish Distillers and Diageo are the worst offenders for showing pure contempt for their customers through excessive overcharging. Oh, and your banter from 7:15 on is hilarious. Definitely seemed like the tail end of a cask strength evening. 😂
Absolutely love the PX. I still have a few bottles from the first limited release. Glad it is now a core product. It is $89 no tax where I get it in Massachusetts but regularly saw it at 199 and even higher around the country as well as Boston not long ago. They reduced price for US market to align it closer to Europe. They probably took a hit after the stupid price increase. Blue Spot went from $89 to $299 and Redbreast 27 425 to 1,200. I definitely like my Redbreast 21s over my Redbreast 27 batch 4 (just grapefruit at start).
Here in the Chicago market, the prices of Blue and Red Spot dropped significantly as they have just been collecting dust on shelves. Blue is now 150 and Red is 200. Still too much.
@topshelfdustin3060 I've had Red Spot and it's no better or worse than Yellow Spot, which is 119 in our market. It's so so overpriced, regardless of the extra 3 year maturation, which you can't detect.
@@djbeacon6895 yeah it is crazy. They opened up to the Asia market (China) already with limited supply and jacked the price up in the American market. I was ordering 4 - 16 bottles from Ireland and saving a ton since I only did it when shipping was a fixed rate. Blue Spot was $89 first time and $99 the second time 4 Red Spots for $115 each plus I got several not sold in the US offerings like Powers John Lane cask strength. Went in a DC store a month ago while on a business trip and saw cases of Gold Spot 9 year but #&*%@ wanted over $300 each. They currently sell at auction for $120 since the Gold Spot 13 came out. Would have loved to have gotten a case of the GS9 for a fair price.
Great review! I don't know if your bottle is the first batch 2021 version (L21); it was the best one. Luckily, here in NYC, I can get them for $85. In terms of drinkability and price, it's currently the best value Irish Whiskey!
In the world of surging Irish prices this one is def worth the price. I believe it’s down to $130 in Ohio now. It’s the best in their line up now that the CS has gone down hill.
One of my favorite Redbreasts. And at 100 = winner, winner... Wife just bought me their Lustau for Christmas but haven't cracked.
Lustau is a nice pour. This is something special. I'm still blown away by this one.
There are 6 sitting in the shelf at my local store at $99, soon to be 5. Thanks for the review!
Thanks for the Review I bought this 2 Months ago but haven’t opened it yet, looking forward to it😜
Hope you enjoy it!
@@topshelfwhiskyJust tried it , you were 💯 right Budd. My new favourite Red Breast PX 👌🥃

They are starting to lower prices to match the EU pricing. Americans have hit the ceiling for what we’re willing to pay.
I've either got good or GREAT news for you. We had a lot more reviews that day lol.
Absolutely love the PX.

@@PatrickS0057 I passed on red at 160 when it came out. These prices are silly.

@pizzawarlord9232 I walked away from the 27 year at 400 to 500, then 6 months ago had massive sticker shock to see at Total Wine at over 1,000. WTF?!

Glad to see this back in view, $179 near me. I think sherry matured Kilchomans are expensive at $120 so I don't know about this.
That is high and I do enjoy Kilchoman , but this might be a $200 bottle "these" days.

At 85 all day. I'd guess this is the first round since I know new bottles are being priced around 150 here.
$200 CAD here, but the exchange rate is so bad now that that works out to $140US
That is a pretty good price, I’ve seen much higher.

$130 is the discounted price, it’s usually $150
Best price/performance red breast by far. Among very best value in all whisk(e)y
I can’t argue with that.
Prices for Irish are absolutely ridiculous anymore, bought the redbreast 27 like 3 years ago for 460 now it’s like 1100.
I saw the barry crocket for like 500 recently...I couldn't even think of words. Just stupid.
Under a 100 in chicago

Not seen this one in sweden / Europe yet. Tried the new 18?
The 18 is pretty mediocre. I’d recommend trying it before buying a bottle. It’s not bad it’s just nothing impressive
@@4LeafWhiskey that's good info. At the US price it's a hard pass. At the UK prices...I'd thought about it as I love the 21.
