My friends Dad at 70 sold his Architecture business and bought this exact car, only in a gun-metal grey. He had a 911 on his desk for 30 years and said he'd always buy one.

The 911 is quite simply the best car ever made. So many different versions, and they're all beautiful and amazing. It's iconic and somehow even after all these years, it keeps getting better and better.

Turbo S 3.3 seconds ? even the official Porsche numbers are 2.9 and everybody knows they never give the real numbers. the turbo s goes on every test in about 2.5-2.7 up to 62
Anyone who owns a pre-facelift Targa GTS with a manual transmission really needs to hold onto that. It will be such a collector's item

The 991 is the first targa I like the look of. My mates uncle has one and it's stunning in real life. The exhaust note is beautiful as well but then he has the NA engine

Some tested it and hit 2.7-2.5 , it really is one of the most underrated acceleration cars of all time , people often point out how fast is v10 plus or the nismo gtr or mclaren 650 is , but truth is , 911 turbo s is up there with them

Those 0-60 times are extremely conservative. Would bet the C4GTS will hit it in around 3.1 seconds.
Absolutely. Car and Driver already has PDK Carrera Ss around that time.
And the Turbo S does it in 2.5. He was almost a full second off of the actual time when he said it was 3.3

George Fast and easy. Like McDonalds. K.....I’ll stick with a little less fast a little less easy, a lot more satisfying and a whole lot more entertaining. I’ve had 6 911s over the years. Haven’t bought an auto yet. I’m with CLS63 above.... I’d bloody love a Targa 2 Manual if Porsche made one.
Hands down the most beautiful Porsche out there. Is it the one to buy? Maybe not but it is gorgeous.

I just watch the 2015 review on the NA version, (really well done btw) I really like the Targa bar version of this car, one I would seriously consider writing a check for.... but I am really wondering how much additional weight is added to the vehicle with the electrically operating roof/trunk mechanism and God forbid it malfunctions. I am wondering if buyers would want just a manually unlock & remove lift off roof that you store in the rear section behind the seats, personally I would like a version like that keep it simpler and still have that very cool throwback silver targa bar!!

Guuggel No I know that the new continental will have a design close to the exp 10, you can see that on the spyshots. The car Im talking about is another modelline. But I dont know if they are going to bring that on the market.

For Ferrari's F1 Feature its the Manatino switch on the steering wheel. For the Porsche its the "center locking wheel caps" lol.
It is incredible how Porsche can keep this car updated and beautiful over the years without loosing the base style identity. Probably is the car with most variants versions in the car industry. lol

The best driver's 911 is the RWD Gen2 997S. Manual gearbox... No question!

Great review as always but he did neglect to say something about the wind blowing in the car with the top down. Something that has plagued Targa cars.

so does this GTS pull a 2.8 to 100km like the motorTrend one did? i cant tell if its real anymore...thats the old turbo numbers, this is crazy!!!! for 450 hp??? to pull 2.8!!!!!
Turbo S in actuality is about 2.6-2.7 to 60. This will most likely be 3.1-3.2. They conservatively rate them to widen the gap between models to steer the buyer closer to one or the other

3:05 the Turbo S does a 2.6 0-60, way faster than the GTS. The Turbo S is the best all around 911, hands down. Beauty, speed, functionality, practicality, and exclusivity. Dream car.

If I could afford one I would get the manual Targa 4 GTS not the PDK. I have an uncle who has a 74' SC targa, and is the reason I fell in love with Porsche to begin with.

I'm not a Porsche guy, but this would be the one I'd get. I love targas and I'd drive it with the top down all the time. An after-market exhaust should fix the awful sound.

Makes me wish I still had the money to buy a Porsche again. I used mine as a daily driver as well as a weekend touring machine. As long as this trick top is stable when up it is a good thing, easy to stow. With all-wheel drive it will work on roads in any weather and the rear wheels will be better behaved in the 'twisties.' The steering wheel cover looks sueded--not a good thing for longer-term appearance. In traffic or on long drives, I never did like to hear so much engine/tire noise so this model could be exactly to my taste.

I bought the actual Porsche 911S that you reviewed whenthey first came out (yes the actual car!) but I'm not thinking about a GTS. Is the difference noticeable enough, is the exhaust sound any better?
This would make a nice comfortable daily driver, though I personally would use a manual transmission, primarily due to my lack of interest in automatics, in spite of the PDK. It just seems uninteresting.

On a GTS i absolutely don't need 4wd or targa. It all adds extra weight. A Speed Yellow 911 GTS with pdk will do.
