They sell this as a survival tool - no chance - there is no survival situation where you would have the time to make furniture, ladders or an intricate shelter. Marketing is the game and most of it is full of BS. I will keep testing stuff like this just because I want to call it what it is. thanks for the comment - Happy Camping.

Thanks for exposing the truth, when i tried it jus recently it wasn't ez at all. I can be believe that they were predrilled beyond reasonable of doubt

I’ve only seen them available at Amazon which is definitely subpar quality. I was hoping Lee Valley carried them but they don’t.

I have seen several different makes on Amazon and do agree that this is a knock off of an original design.
I managed to weld it back together; however, I will only use it on completely dry wood and only when the temps increase above the freezing point. Thanks for the info about lee valley - saves others from checking them out for this product.

I think the problem is that it has 4 flutes. If it had only 2, it would drill a lot easier.

That is an awesome point - sorry for the pun. The unit jams up with sawdust far too quickly. Brutal to use. I totally agree with your comment. Thanks
