    *What do you think about Izvor? Do you think it can work for real self-defense?*

    • @LifestyleEmpowerment
      @LifestyleEmpowerment 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Absolutely, any martial art that you practice with resistive sparring and pressure testing, and train it towards real life combat applications, such a self defence. With that said, from what I saw in your video, it seems like it's definitely being practiced in that way, and the whole thing about absorbing impacting and improvisation, is very useful even outside of combat.

      There is no doubt that this works in real life for self-defense, I have seen much weirder martial arts working in real life against thugs. The problem is that combat sports also work in real life for self-defense, so why learn something that only works in real life situations without rules if combat sports also do that and give you a chance to compete?

    Being practicing Muay Thai for decades and I am impressed. The fact that the man who invented this technique, doesn't want to make it a commercial brand, also add to his credibility and credit.

      Izvor is really efficient, most fighters in Russia who had a chance to check it out feel very satisfied and impressed with its practicality and view on combat.
      Its a shame but most of the Systema Kadochnikova off-shots schools get bad-rap because of Systema Ryabko, which is the most globally established and has the strongest marketing behind it.

      @@mikitadou My pleasure brother! I'm looking forward to it. I am really interested to see what information you share regarding Yiquan. I have spent a few years playing with Yiquan to develope whole body power and incorporate Systema principles for detachment and whole body freedom. I think the two are rather compatible together. In fact, Michael Grudev said in a Reddit AMA that Systema Izvor is compatible with Yiquan, Taichi, Wing Chun, and several other martial arts. I cannot remember them all at the moment.

  • @johnelliott9823
    @johnelliott9823 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    interesting concept, the maximum distance between hands. it seems pretty effective in combination with the elbows for offence and defence, sort of like the horns of a deer, or a weaponized guard, though I am curious how it works in multiple attacker scenarios where the angles might be different. the wrestling is the warmup, you said. do they teach it too or do you just sort of pick it up? I've heard good things about Ivzor, mostly about how great the sparring format is.

    • @mikitadou
      @mikitadou  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      They do teach basic Sambo principles and some Judo throws, but from my research they don't delve on it too much. Like always, your observation regarding the technique is impressive, by keeping the both hands in close proximity he is able to flow easily between attack and defense, as well as from attacking under different angles from short distances, leaving the opponent little time to react or guess the trajectory.
      Regarding the multiple opponents, that's the tricky part, I don't believe that any martial art would fully prepare a fighter to face multiple opponents, IZVOR does teach good group control principles, but the plausibility of effectively using that, as well as pragmatism + common sense, purely depends on an individual practitioner.

      @@mikitadou you make me blush sir. wrt surviving attack from more than one opponent, i would say it always depends on who's involved, but if you look into the disciplines which purport to focus on the problem, - ba gua, aikido, various systema schools - you see some common threads. constant movement, evasive footwork, odd angle attacks, avoiding the middle etc. how much i could use it i'd rather not have to know much like knife defence. thanks for the information!

    Wow. This actually looks really good. Quite possibly the best, or at least among the best, all the Systema (A style I had pretty much given up on but now am reconsidering, albeit cautiously, due to these very videos.) based or influenced systems you've covered so far. And the leader doesn't seem to be some kind of self serving, self important, fame/ security hungry larper either. Kinda goes without saying that the latter is a good sign.
    Appreciate your open minded yet analytical approach. It's certainly a continual struggle between said open mindedness and accepting, and perhaps in the end, defending reality for what it is. Subbed

    Izvor is amazing! Can you explain that wall training? I think it's very practical to learn,just in case

    • @mikitadou
      @mikitadou  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, Izvor is very practical and pragmatic, but at the same time it has very deep underlayers which are understood subconsciously with time.
      The wall training is about losing the sense of fear and shock, while at the same time gently absorbing the impact of the strike, in this case, absorbing the energy from the attackers push and the impact against the wall, and redirecting that force into the following counter attacks.

    • @mikitadou

      Well, I would disagree, there are too many schools and "masters" that claim to teach Systema, but in the end of the day they are just making easy money on naïve people. I don't like Ryabko and Starov's School of no contact touching. But you should definitely check out Izvor and ROSS, they carry the legacy of the original 1970s Systema very well.
