    G2c is my first gun. I've fired many pistols owned by friends, but this thing is perfect. So comfortable. 12+1 is a decent round count, without being too big or too small. I plan to upgrade the trigger, guide rod, striker guide, and sights, and I plan to polish everything inside it that needs it. I'll also be getting a tactical light. I seriously love this gun.

    Ive been running mine since sept '15 and I just had the slide Cerakoted in Magpul O.D. Green for $40. I had to strip the slide entirely and that has solved my problems, great Vid!!!

    I haven't had any problems with the Lakeline upgrades I installed in my PT111 G2, i.e. guide rod/spring assy. stainless striker guide, and compensated barrel. I did have problems with the Galloway guide rod/spring that failed after only about 150 rounds. The large spring end came away from the rod causing the pistol to not lock open or feed/eject. I recommend Lakeline products.

    I bought one of these guns and didn't expect much. I'm a 1911 nut and wasn't into this type of gun - this was my first "plastic gun". I fell in love with it almost immediately. No recoil(per se), accurate, and decent trigger pull and instinctive to shoot. I put 1600 rounds of various types of ammo through it and kept a record. In 1600 rounds the gun jammed, on average, once per 100 rounds - virtually all jams were failure to extract(FTE). I felt this was too many jams for a defensive weapon for my wife, and send it back to Taurus warranty shop with a complaint of excessive FTE. I shot six different types of ammo, I had three different types of reloads. The "good" reloads got 3 FTE with 300 shots. The "bad" reloads got 7 FTE with only 200 shots. The "old" reloads got 1 FTE with 100 shots. So, I'm up to 11 FTE with 600 shots of various reloads, that's 1 jam per 62 shots with various reloads. I tried three different factory ammo - PMC Bronze got 8 FTE with 500 shots. WPA Polyformance got 0 FTE with 525 shots. Speer 124gr +P Gold Dot had 1 FTE in 55 shots. That's 1 jam every 120 shots with factory ammo, and the PMC Bronze was the worst of all the factory ammo, and heavily skewed the results. Other than the FTE, this gun was a pleasure to shoot. I combat shoot a lot and this was the fastest gun I've ever shot. The trigger reset is short, shorter than a Springfield XD Gen.2 - noticably shorter. The gun is light, yet has low recoil. It is accurate for such a short gun - I shot my test rounds 100 at a time and my groups were 2.5 - 3 inches at ten yards from a wooden rest - much of it was rapid fire. When I tried it in combat style shooting I shot 12 rounds into 4 targets - 3 shots per. Times between shots was .23 seconds which is 4 rounds in under a second. All shots were in the A zone of an IPSC style target at 5 yards. Gun is so instinctive to shoot, that I didn't even use the sights!!! The video is on my channel, check it out.... th-cam.com/video/oxMjIpKdrz4/w-d-xo.html Except for the FTE's this was the fastest, most accurate(for it's size), lowest recoiling, most comfortable to shoot gun I've ever fired. I hope to get my gun back and maybe, not be a jammer. If it wasn't prone to FTE's there is NO DOUBT that this would my carry gun. My cousin bought one, we've only put 100 shots through it and no jams so far. Some people in blogs claim thousands of rounds with no jams, so I guess it's just the luck of the draw when you buy one.

    • @lazvt8469
      @lazvt8469 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have three...about 2700 rounds total. The third one I bought has a machine burr on the feed ramp opening that was causing failures to feed. I filed it down, polished it up and it's been running as flawless as my other two for it's last 300 rounds of use. My other two have about 2000 rounds with zero failures. G2C is a great lil gun for so many reasons. Have a $30 KeepTinkering SAO trigger coming in a few days to see how that works out.

    I use Lucas "Red" synthetic high temp hi speed bearing grease applied with a yellow stem hobby brush (like the ones used for rod building) Oil has solvents which evaporate. Synthetic grease does not. Synthetic grease stays in place where as oil is affected by gravity. Synthetic grease keeps it's lubricity in cold and hot weather. I transfer the grease from the caulk gun to a flat jar then keep the caulk gun ready for greasing the mower deck.

I do like Glocks-I have an early gen 3 23 on me as I write it. But I did disprove Glocks claim of being very rust resistance. I actually keep a closer look on my glocks now than I do my other carry guns.

      I've got one of these, Mine gets rusty on the back side of the slide. I appendix carry, And if I sweat during the day it shows signs of rust by the time I'm home from work. It's partly the crap finish on these pistols. I'm actually thinking of coating mine to help eliminate this issue.

    Wife and I each had one. Only problem we had was the slide would lock up when the recoil spring would start to jump over the front flange of the guide rod, Round wire for a recoil spring does not work well. Lake Line flattened both ends of the springs to prevent the end of the spring from being forced over the flange. Solved the problem. Eventually traded the Taurus in on a pistol with flat wire recoil springs and no issues with the new ones at all.

    @traeucity6087 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    You're right about the finish. I looked at this gun at my LGS. All three of the ones they had, had numerous, visible scratches on slide. I asked what happened, and was told that they arrived in that condition. The OD green one I tried, had a hitch in the trigger travel, that was very noticeable. The salesperson told me that was normal; but I just watched a video from KS Gun Guy, and his gun had no such problem with the trigger. Good gun for a first time gun owner or those with limited funds.

    I have been carrying my PT111 G2 for over 6 months now and I have close to 1000 rounds through it. I have come to love that little gun. When I first shot it I was ready to trade it in for a loss because the trigger was so bad, but now, that trigger has smoothed out and is working exactly like I want it to work. It is a very good gun for the money, and I trust my life to that gun. It is my daily concealed carry firearm. I am showing some holster wear on it, but I have seen no signs of rust, probably because I wipe it down with a silicone cloth about once a week and put a light coat of oil on it after each range date.

    Found it shoots incredible right out of the box. It is like a better Glock 43. Holds more, looks better, fits the hand better. No issues. Surprisingly accurate for what it is, which is a pocket pistol. Amazing value and this coming from a Glock fan. You can't beat the value. If you are considering a small 9mm for deep concealment, this is the perfect tool.

      Are you sure on the sign 226 mags?

    • @everydayj9330
      @everydayj9330 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrism8366 Yes, the G2 will take the p226 9mm mags no problem. I recommend the MecGar mags as they are less expensive and very high quality. From time to time surplus LE/military mags pop up at very low prices if you watch for them. ;)
      And to prove they work for me .... here's a (very low quality) video I made, but it shows OEM SIG p226 & MecGar mags working just fine in mine. (I own 4 G2s) Note Taurus has tolerances that very wildly from gun to gun, so even though they worked fine on all four of mine, my friends G2 only held open about half the time with the exact same mags. So, as with many things in life YMMV...

Combo the custom trigger with the Lakeline LLC barrell, stainless guide rod with double spring and you will have an extremely reliable gun that feels very very good to shoot.

      Thank you. People say "grease attracts dirt". To that I say, do you know why your oil doesn't attract dirt? Because it's gone! There is a reason why in industry the only time they use oil is in closed and pressurized systems. Otherwise they use grease.

    I have owned mine for about six months and maybe put 300 rounds of various ammunition through it. I upgraded it with the Lakeline steel guidepin and springs right out of the box before I ever fired it. I am up in the air for trusting it yet though. It seems to fail to load a round about every three magazines. The ejector fails to clear the casing out and then jams the next round. I can remove the magazine and eject the live round and shake the spent casing out so I know it's not because it is stuck in there. Is there anything that can be done to make the ejector work 100%? If not I cannot personally endorse trusting my life with it.

    I have had a problem with the slide not locking open after shooting the last round. I sent it it to Taurus. They had it for two months and sent it back without doing anything to it. Said that they did not see the issue. I took it to the round and about 1 out of 4 magazines, the it still fails to lock open. Have you heard anyone comment on this with their gun and would you have any suggestions?

    • @bikeracerdude
      @bikeracerdude 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jim C,
      You're expecting too much from that brand... Take the loss by selling/trading it, and get something of better quality.
      And if it's not a G2- it's probably one of the many models of "T" brand guns being recalled.

    • @sorbicsagor5080
      @sorbicsagor5080 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      My father and I both own this gun and haven't had that issue. However I would recommend breaking it in manually. Basically just sit there while watching some show and rack the slide a couple hundred times. If you have a dummy round then fire it a bunch as well. I've done this with my H&K, LC9, S&W and this Taurus, they've all felt smoother afterwords.
      Also pay very close attention to your grip. It's easy to end up putting just enough pressure on the slide release on guns that they fail to lock back. Most of slide complaints I've found for the Taurus was just how people were holding it. They changed their grip and bam, it was better

    You mentioned replacement sights from Lakeline. Do those sights improve the acvurracy of the gun? I set my guns up for a 10 yrd zero and the rear sight is as low as it can get but It still shoots high with my preferred sight picture of spliitting the bullseye with the top of the front sight. I have to use the 6 o'clock picture to get it to shoot in the middle. A little odd for me.

    Any time you pull ANY gun out of its holster it will show some wearing on the blueing. I don’t care who makes the gun. . And if your gun gets rusty then it’s your own damn fault. Not the gun or its maker. If you want to keep your gun looking new then put it up and never holster it or shoot it. I buy my guns to shoot not just look at.
