I replaced my guide rod and spring I got from lakeland awhile ago went to the range and what a difference it made. You're gonna like it. I think I will replace the striker guide, my trigger sticks too, but not as much as before I tore it apart and cleaned, and polished vital parts. I like how you get to the point, unlike some other guys who are motor mouths, lol.
Your instruction was spot on and after watching you it was very easy; only took about 5 minutes from start to finish. Thanks. I did not have a pin so I just used the old red plastic striker guide in the same fashion.
Use the slide itself. Slide the firing pin guide into the slide where it came out of upside down so you can push springs down and have access to the 2 halfs that hold on springs. Gives a solid base to work on
Just did mine tonight. The hardest part was pushing down the striker spring far enough to snap the striker spring retainer onto the striker. The Lakeline instructions show using the slide as a holder for the striker/spring assembly while you're reassembling it (install it backwards in the slide to hold everything together).
I have two of this guns, stainless I Have two of this guns,STAINLESS & FDE. Fired 250rds each, Did the upgrades just like you! Guide Rode Fireingpine guide &springs. Just bought the fiber optic for them. Like Line LLC real good quality products. Since I put the parts in so EASY TO DO I put 300 rds through them BIG DIFFERENCE!!! Everything went FLAWLESS 👍Good STUFF!! Thanks Frankcastano
After watching your videos, I ordered the striker guide, with plans to purchase the recoil rod replacement. After re-watching your videos, I'm adding the replacement striker springs as well. I am making this gun my EDC and I want it to be as reliable as possible.
@@AS-vk4kf It was as simple as he shows here. Gun works perfectly fine with replacement recoil rod, guide, and springs. Only issue I have had was ammo feeding only due it preferring rounded tip ammo instead of flat tipped.
Thank you so much for this video. I was just about to take my G2 to the gunsmith to have the striker guide changed out to the Lakeline unit. You just saved me some $$ that I will now spend on a weapon light for HK.
Great video! Went smoothly , I did use the plastic striker guide instead of the piece of the pen to change it out, but your videos are very thorough and very helpful! Thank you again!
I ordered the parts from Lake Line and found your video to help with the install. Everything went smooth as butter. Can't wait to get to the range. Thanks for a great video!
I appreciate the video. I didn't remove & clean my striker assy. during my initial field strip/clean/lube when the gun was new, and just now finished putting mine back together after approx. 1800-2000 rounds downrange. My striker assy was stuck - and damn hard, too. I managed to pry it loose w/ a slotted screwdriver; and when she finally came loose, it shot out, and the screwdriver scratched the length of my left hand, and eventually snagged on my first finger, drawing blood and causing me to yell, both in pain and victory, having gotten the damn thing out. The entire thing was FILTHY. Black, and filthy. When I ran a patch down the tube into the slide, copious metal flakes came out - copper and brass. Upon reassembly, the fit was initially so tight, I had to move from where I was working on my bed (my wife loves it when I tear guns apart on her blankets) down to my workbench and use a fat brass punch to gently tap the plastic collar back into place. It didn't put up much fight, and now appears like it will come out again in the future w/o a fight. So, thanks for the video! You helped me, because I couldn't recall if I had to do something else to get that collar to come outta there. Anyway, you saved the day!
Apreciate the video. I just replaced mine. Never had a problem with it, but I like that the slide feels a lot more firmer. Like my kids would say; from common to epic in seconds.
Special thanks to you Shawn, just doing this mod in April 2020 during the virus thing. The trigger job is next. All the best to you and the other subscribers. Stay safe and vigilant. Double taps and carry a spare mag!
Very good video. I watched another one this morning and I could not see those little black retainer pieces for the striker because of the persons fingers in the way and how they were put in. I'm buying the kit and now I can see how it's done so thank you
Great video. Made installing the striker guide really easy. Especially the pen cap trick. I had a mechanical pencil nearby and just pulled the cap off. I had the guide rod already replaced and I did notice the difference at the range. Thanks for sharing.
@@shawn7260 hey how are you? I know that this is an old thread but I want to know , I have the PT140 G2 .40CAL. A little late to the show here but ive got the G2 as an EDC and i think these will help quite a bit. After all, we give our cars a tune up after a while, why not what i trust my life with?
Greatly appreciate the vid walked me right thru it with no problems Huge difference in that trigger, still has nice short rest when cycled but over all is much firmer with cleaner break!
Nice info thanks. I just ordered the fiber optic sights, guide rod, striker guide and spring kit. It's already a great pistol, this should make it lots better. All for $95.00 shipped.
Nice, and no problem! I'm thinking about making a video about installing sights myself, would love to hear about how your upgrades went when you have them done!
Default32 well there all installed. Everything went pretty smoothly thanks to the in information you provided, so thanks again. I don't have a trigger gauge but with the new stainless striker guide the pull and break is much smoother and cleaner. Double action is super smooth then hits the wall and breaks crisp, single is the same crispness just of corce lots shorter. Point of reset is the same. Occasionally in single action I'll get a slight bump just after it hits the wall and the trigger breaks, but this is smoothing out with use (break in) the other plus is now i don't have to worry about the built in Taurus security system locking out the pistol, its completely bypassed. The guide rod is drop in and a huge upgrade, spring tention seems to be the same. The fiber optic sight bodies are made of a heavy grade aluminum, quality is outstanding. Also very easy to install, pretty much unscrew the old sights, clean the mounting surface and install the new ones. You will have to install the fiber optic rods into the sight bodies (because you select the color of the rods). The shelf of the rear sight is flat for one handed slide racking if the need ever arose. The rear is windage adjustable only and both sights profile seem to be a bit higher (wich i like). Outstanding qualiy and products, for just over $95.00 My G2 has become a much higher quality weapon. I wish there was a way to post a photo with the sights installed, they really set the pistol off and pick up the light fantastically. A really sharp quick target acquiring picture.
Well thought out, I appreciate you doing this video👏🏻! I just purchased a G2C yesterday! I was planing on making the modifications to my gun as well! This is not my first gun!
Thanks for this... all parts on order to replace in my PT140... might as well do it all at once. :) Only gun I ever regretted buying... Hoping this fixes that, cause I really really want to enjoy this gun.
Just seen your video after watching a couple others. And already have assembled it, but wish I seen this video first! Anyway, I assembled just like you did and was curious about the firing pin? It looks like it's not going to come out and strike the bullet cap? I mean it's just not sticking out of the pin hole if I push the pin all the way? Maybe I'm paranoid about it? And the trigger swings it harder than my finger pushing the pin? Ok well thanks for any help!?
Not sure, I would take it to the range and try it out. If it doesn't work contact the company your purchased the firing pin, springs and/or striker guide from.
Any chance of getting a follow up report? I'm curious how it worked out for you and if you think the change in performance warrants the price of the upgrades.
on the lakeline llc website it states that you have to adjust the Taurus safety cam and that If can mess up the gun if not done right. Please get back to me about that part I'm not sure if they're talking about the hole you say can be drilled out or something else.
Ricardo Rodriguez It works perfectly fine without any modifications to the striker guide. I took it out of the package and installed it without issues. The only thing is that you’ll no longer be able to use the slide locking safety feature with the key that’s included.
Would you know if changing out the firing pin springs and striker guide would ONLY be helpful if someone plans on keeping the original double strike trigger which comes on a PT111 G2 Millineum or the new G2C? I have recently changed out my original PT111 trigger with a SAO trigger from Keep Tinkering. This Single Action Only replacement trigger has greatly improved or reduced the trigger issues I (and probably a lot of other Taurus owners ) experience with the Taurus Double Action trigger. I still have the original firing pin springs and striker guide in my pistol and my gun is now running great. So, still replace the firing pin springs and striker guide, or not? Your thoughts??
That I have. Since this video I've put 350 more rounds through it and the trigger feels great, and you can tell there's a more powerful strike with the firing pin springs. Highly recommend installing these parts on it if you have or are considering purchasing this pistol.
The new parts are not really needed, you can deburr the factory firing pin sleeve and that will smooth out the trigger, as for the recoil spring guide rod, I saw one melt, but that was on a pistol being fired full auto and it took over 1200 rounds of almost continuous fire.
They don't need to be changed, but I feel the striker guide is definitely a good idea to fix the trigger problem a lot of people have, and the springs come with it, so why not? Getting rid of that grittyness in the trigger I feel is very important. As far as the difference, I can't say as far as materials or how it's made, but what I can tell you for sure is that the Lakeline springs definitely has much more force behind it i.e. the springs are stronger/more powerful. Which prevents light strikes preventing the primers from not firing or igniting properly. And thank you, I really appreciate it!!
Does the new guide rod and spring make the slide easier to pull back? A friend has his tendons in his fingers messed up and doesnt have great finger strength to squeeze the slide to rack it.
GearHeadX There is more resistance with the aftermarket guide rod and possibly even with the firing pin springs but not by much if so. Also, the firing pin springs may make the trigger more difficult to pull until the break but should do so only with double action.
Really good video. But, just a little practice and you could sound like John Madden. That would be awesome to hear you do the replacement as John Madden. Boom thats all you gotta do.
oops, I messed up. I was trying to clean the firing pin assembly springs and somehow while I was doing that, the little retainers that hold the spring shot out and so far I have not found them. are they metal or plastic? I might have to invent something if I can't find them until I get my hands on the replacement parts
Guy's if you take the empty slide and sit it upright on it's front then stick the striker in the striker channel BACKWARD's...you can push the spring down with NO problem to take the plastic cups off (just like a Glock)!!!!!
Mike The striker guide springs aren’t necessary, but you can feel the difference in the firing pins force when you pull the trigger. I recommend it for the cheap price. Definitely get the striker guide though!
It did not. Though it is a heavy trigger, personally I don't feel it's that heavy. This may be something you'd want to contact Taurus about if you haven't already. It makes the pistol feel smooth altogether.
Although it may have looked like it, I didn't fully pull the trigger. The break is beyond how far I pulled, but the grittiness that I felt was before the break, which was no longer there after doing this clean.
Sorry for the late response, but if you but the striker guide from Lakeline, yes. The stainless steel striker guide provided by Lakeline doesn't have the hold for the safety lock drilled into it. But, this is a unique feature that isn't on most firearms in the first place. So if you're more concerned about safety because you have children in the household, then you may not want to do this. Or you could buy an aftermarket gun lock. Or you could pay a gunsmith to drill the hole into the striker guide if you don't want a gun lock.
Default32, have you had any problems? How is your Taurus firing? I ordered both the SS Guide Rod and SS Striker guide. Both were well made, and machined very nice. But however, I have problems with the SS Striker Guide. I'm getting lots of light primers strikes, or NO strikes at all. Don't know what's happening. Eventually had to change back to the original orange striker guide. Now, it fires great in double action, and single action. Still trying to solve what's going with the SS Striker Guide.
I have not had any issues with the new Guide Rod, Firing Pin Springs or Striker Guide. Since this video I've put 350 more rounds through it and the trigger feels great, and you can tell there's a more powerful strike with the firing pin springs. Not sure what could be causing this issue, hopefully with the new parts you this will solve your issue.
I will definitely have to make another video very soon, will have to take it to the range one more time to break 1k rounds and will make it an update for the milestone. And I'm more than satisfied with the upgrades!
I would assume the G2C doesn't have the cut out (the notch in the red plastic bit) which is what causes a snagging feeling on the G2. If yours is still plastic then you might think about upgrading but it would probably be more for longevity than making the trigger smoother. Of course this is my guess as I haven't even held a G2 yet.
Contact the company where you purchased the firing pin/striker guide from, they may have sent you the wrong ones. Also, drilling striker guide is only necessary if you want Taurus' safety feature which is the Slide Lock. This is usually only used by people who don't lock away their pistol and have kids who live in the household.
good Morning, I live in Brazil, and unfortunately this company doesn’t send to our country, I already researched with them, I’ll see if I can find someone I can receive, and then send them back to Brazil via post

Yeah, a lot of videos are 15 minutes of motormouth and 5 minutes of instruction.
Does it improve the lite primer strike issues? I have noticed Taurus’s are prone to lite primer strikes, especially with cheaper ammo.
Your instruction was spot on and after watching you it was very easy; only took about 5 minutes from start to finish. Thanks. I did not have a pin so I just used the old red plastic striker guide in the same fashion.

Also, the firing pin springs may make the trigger more difficult to pull until the break but should do so only with double action.

So that hole I dont need make that hole? It will work fine?
Did replacing the springs lighten the trigger pull weight?
It did not. Though it is a heavy trigger, personally I don't feel it's that heavy. This may be something you'd want to contact Taurus about if you haven't already. It makes the pistol feel smooth altogether.
Why did you actually fully pull the trigger? After you reassembled it, you pulled the trigger about ten times and it didn't strike even once.
Although it may have looked like it, I didn't fully pull the trigger. The break is beyond how far I pulled, but the grittiness that I felt was before the break, which was no longer there after doing this clean.
So this eliminates the safety lock?
Sorry for the late response, but if you but the striker guide from Lakeline, yes. The stainless steel striker guide provided by Lakeline doesn't have the hold for the safety lock drilled into it. But, this is a unique feature that isn't on most firearms in the first place. So if you're more concerned about safety because you have children in the household, then you may not want to do this. Or you could buy an aftermarket gun lock. Or you could pay a gunsmith to drill the hole into the striker guide if you don't want a gun lock.
sweet thank you
Thanks for the video.
Perfect.
Good vid, nice job. 👍
Thank you, I appreciate the support!
does anyone know of the taurus g2c has the same feature to lock the slide as the taurus p111 has
Default32, have you had any problems?
Where is the video of you shooting it? How did the striker guid and spring work?
I will definitely have to make another video very soon, will have to take it to the range one more time to break 1k rounds and will make it an update for the milestone. And I'm more than satisfied with the upgrades!
Can i use the same springs? I got the striker guide but not the springs. Do that would affect?
Kevin Matinez I don’t see why this wouldn’t work for you, hope all went well!
Awesome :)
I have the g2c which doesn't have the external key lock, is it necessary to change the striker guide?
I would assume the G2C doesn't have the cut out (the notch in the red plastic bit) which is what causes a snagging feeling on the G2. If yours is still plastic then you might think about upgrading but it would probably be more for longevity than making the trigger smoother.
Of course this is my guess as I haven't even held a G2 yet.
GREAT VIDEO IM LOOKING TO GET ME 1 LEARNING ALL I CAN THANKS
Mine didn't fit. Instructions say to drill the side with a bit. That's a no go for me. The fine print.
Hello can I buy this parts from Europe?
Not sure. Sorry.
Thanks for the sharing . Sub !
Put it in the back of the slide
good Morning, I live in Brazil, and unfortunately this company doesn’t send to our country, I already researched with them, I’ll see if I can find someone I can receive, and then send them back to Brazil via post
