so the backlight versions are always on unless the fogs are activated/turned on? does it matter what your stalk setting is on? ex: OFF, DRL, Low beam, AUTO? also I read the backlit version requires a tap into another power source. what did you tap into
The backlight is on if what you tapped is powered. The custom taps I had made tap both the DRL and parking wires at my headlight with a custom harness that is 100% plug and play. I cycled through all the stalk settings, they’re in the video description.
I just purchased the Ditch light with backlight. What's the wiring color for going to the switch for this fog light. I'm using an oem switch, so I'm curious if I should be able tap to the same wire I tap into to illuminate my switch. Thanks!
Hey so I’m having a time trying to install these SS3 Pro fog lights with the backlight right now. Came across your video and was wondering where you did the T-Tap for the backlight. And did you use a ballast for voltage regulating cause mine got crazy hot after being on for a few minutes only. Please let me know. Thanks
I plan on keeping mine on for the life of my new truck, so I wanted to use only terminated connectors vs taps. I had PuppyPunter, a member at TacomaWorld, create custom connectors for me that make my connections completely plug and play. His harness connects to the deutsch connectors that come on the backlight harness DD provides and plug into the back of my headlights, connecting the backlight to the DRLs AND parking lights. The plug that was in the headlights now connects to a third connector on his harness, so everything is water-tight.

@@alansarrol4803 yes indeed, he still sells them on TacomaWorld. I made an account and shot him a message. I highly recommend it. They're very well made and give me more peace of mind than a splice or tap.
@@2K5Cesar there’s little comparison, other than both are LEDs. These are a Ferrari compared to a Honda Civic. You can drive at night (off road of course) with just these on.
@@johncollier9000 right, my point was the fogs are so bright you can see well enough to drive at night with just them on - but it’s not street legal to do so
It's plug and play with the harness that connects to factory Fog Lights. If you don't have factory lights, you'll have to get the Harness and wire it up first. The DD kit comes with the required connections for the factory harness.

Not sure, that’s why I had custom connectors made! There’s diagrams on DD’s site I believe.

is the backlight more of an orange compared to the yellow fogs?
Yes, it matches the amber side markers in the headlights.

The sports are a lot of light - plenty for a fog light. I’d maybe go pro if mounting somewhere else though
How did you wire the backlight. I finished everything else but I don’t know how to wire the backlight
Details are in other comments on the video. I used premade connectors so there was no tapping or splicing.

How does a fog light switch work on these? Would it turn off the backlight?
Yes it turns it off once you switch the lights on.
