"[pocket watches] were more jewelry pieces rather than reliable time pieces". Some may argue that in the age of the smartphone it is mechanical watches like the Rolex that are the beautiful jewelry pieces. And in a cosmic irony the smartphone is more akin to the pocket watch in that respect.

    • @TheSupertecnology
      @TheSupertecnology 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

So, a smartphone is the non-reliable jewelery and a mechanical watch is the real time pice? That could very well go beyond cosmic irony and still be right. It's miles more practical to glance at a watch than taking out a phone, turning the screen on (or waiting for it to) then putting it away again. In the end, the smartphone has become the modern pocket watch.

I used to have prized material possessions - effectively 'idols' - but then I learned that nothing can satisfy the void in my heart except our creator - God. Not even a wonderful wife can fill the void in our heart where only God can.
Humans are spirit & soul in a physical body, but we were designed to exist with love in us. God is love, and offered to fill my void with his love. Then I found peace.
But then I needed salvation. So Jesus stepped in and took the death-penalty for me 2000yrs ago so that I could be reconciled to God, who is pure holiness, and sinless. Therefore by faith in what Jesus did - he repaired the breach, I was able to receive the free gift of eternal-life... "For there is only one mediator between man and God, the man Christ Jesus, who died for us; the righteous one for the unrighteous ones, the innocent one for the guilty ones, that he would bring us to God. 1 Tim 2-5
BTW, Evolution is a lie. For the facts about God creating the Earth in 4000BC, go to... answersingenesis.org
Any atheists/agnostics, I invite you to watch on TH-cam... "Ian McCormack, a glimpse of eternity: the full length story."
And if anyone thinks hell doesn't exist, watch the TH-cam vid... "Pastor spends 23 minutes in hell"
I realized that no man can come to God on their own terms, we have no acceptable basis to present ourself as righteous to God.
For your own sake, call upon the name of the Lord and be saved.
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans, 10:13)

When this Sea-Dweller appeared, I knew that although I am not put off by the looks of a Rolex dive watch, I often find them a bit mundane and lacking in frivolity. When I see this watch, that one can have the best of both worlds, practicality and frivolity, in a delightful mix. I have never, not in my entire life, been very sensible or practical. I used to really look forward to these videos, but for whatever reason they've becoming incredibly cringe to me over the last year. Everything about them is truly A+, the production couldn't possibly be any better, but your tone and presentation comes off as too contrived, imo. I get that the channel has grown and you're pushing the whole sophisticated thing, but it was a lot better before. End of the day, these are still "just" watches which don't require deep philosophical thoughts, obscure analogies, etc. I don't want, need, or expect epiphanies from watch videos. Trying too hard.

Rolex is the traditional, it is the most common, logical and boring.
Rolex Submariner is very small for the ocean; if we all open our eyes we would see other Giants:
    -Blancpain Fifty Fathoms
    -Omega Seamaster 300
    -Cartier Calibre Diver
    -Glashutte Original
    -IWC Aquatimer
    -Bremont Supermarine
    -Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eigth
    -Ulysse Nardin Diver 42mm
    -Oris Aquis Date
    -Longines Hydroconquest
    -Bell&Ross BR03 92 Diver
    -Breitling Superocean Heritage
    -Tag Heuer Acuaracer
    -Nomos AHOI Atlantico
    -Raketa Amphibia 0253
    -Alpina Seastrong
    -Muhle Glashutte ProMare Go
    -Fortis Marinemaster

Pocket watches weren't robust, or accurate? I have to strongly disagree! American watch makers (Waltham,Elgin, Illinois, Hampden, Rockford,South Bend, Howard, Columbus, etc) literally made a whole industry off of providing incredibly durable , robust, and very accurate pocket watches for a hundred years. And they were technological leaders , not just watches based on "tradition"....railroad standards by 1900 required double roller, at least 17 jewels, breguet hairspring, compensation balance, and accurate to 30 seconds a week! And they had to be robust enough to withstand railroad work (not a clean or kind place for watches) and be easily serviced and fixed. And pocketwatche kept being produced through the 1950s and 60s even after wristwatches took them over , because pocket watches were still more robust, accurate, and reliable. Good watch making didn't start with wrist watches, or with rolex.

With all due respect, you took five minutes of a nine minute video to get to the point, and your point is lost soon thereafter as you meander into more sophistry. I own this watch, along with a half dozen other Rolex watches, in gold, gold and steel and steel. This is one of the most practical in terms of dress and casual wear. It is indeed bigger but the standard Rolex at 40mm is on the smaller size. Your efforts are appreciated, though.

The price of Rolex watches is defined by what people want to pay. When did Rolex last push timekeeping forward? Omega adopted/adapted the Daniels co axial escapement, Seiko continue to innovate and Rolex invest in what, quality control, finish, branding? You want one because your peers have them. But really they are just the over priced Ferrari of the watch world when the thinking man is buying Porsche or McLaren or dare I say it Lotus or Tesla. Obsolete is the word I am looking for.
