- Hey party people! Thanks so much for hanging out with me while I share with you this new meal plan, grocery haul, and food prep video! I got some new containers for my food prep and I have been enjoying them! They're kind of like a veggie tray if you will so that's been great to pull out for the kids whenever it's time for a snack! I also started a sourdough starter! It's been.... going. haha I don't know if it's been going well or not so well but I'm still doing it so- there's that. 4 years, Kim. I was up with my first newborn baby, watching TH-cam videos so I didn’t feel alone-a lot of them about babies. I came upon your meal prep video from when you were pregnant with Meredith and I wanted to be like you-AND you made me feel like I could be like you: making recipes when you didn’t have all the ingredients; using a *slightly* dirtied bowl so you didn’t have to clean another one. I could do this mommy thing. Thanks for keeping me company through two babies and a pandemic❤️

When you talk about teachers it makes me so happy! I just retired from teaching for 30 years. Teachers appreciate gifts, but, they appreciate your words more. Supporting a teacher makes their day. There's so much I could say here, but a kind word goes so far to making a teacher smile and know that someone notices them. Thank you, Kim!

I appreciate you saying that.. there is no way i could afford the gifts every month… shoot, i had to call in sick to work the day before payday because i couldnt get gas. And im an RN!! So i was in the habit of sending emails and voice mails often and on the regular when a teacher was being amazing.

When I was home a lot a few years ago, and feeling lonely, I came across you and little Meredith. You had her in a baby wrap and you were at Ikea. I had never seen a "Shop with me" video. You were the first! I loved how you talked and described everything you saw and it brightened my day so much! You looked so young, I had no idea that you also had 3 other kids! You have been a favorite of mine ever since. Love all your recipes and love that you always keep a sense of humor!

When I was 5 my uncle, who loved scary movies, was asked to watch over me and my siblings while my parents went out. It was around Halloween so he put on Children of the Corn 🌽. I had nightmares for years 😂😂. Now I watch it as an adult and think, this movie is so funny not scary. Oh and my uncle was never again left in charge of our care 😅😂.

@sandyryziuk8276 I live in CA also and find we have amazing choices in food. What we don't have as much of is the processed snack food. We have all the taco makings, the fire tomatoes, the tomatilos, but the prices are so very much higher because we have 38 million, not 332 million.
I haven't watched Casper in awhile, now I feel like I need to watch it again. That was Devon Sawa, he was one of my first crushes too 😍 lol. At least he had a bigger role in Now and Then and Wild America lol.
My family is Italian food, nuggets and fries, Mexican for mom, hamburger stew, cheeseburgers and fries and a green salad with ranch dressing, pizza and movie night Fridays. Taco salad with ranch/salsa dressing, chili rellenos casserole, fried potatoes, cheese and salsa and eggs in the morning with overnight oats and chia seeds. Tuna salad’s, homemade potato salad, soups, oh the list goes on and on and on honey bunny.
My daughter loves Spookely the Square Pumpkin on Netflix.. lol It's a really cute one 😊
I've had active starter since May of 2022. I thought it was stinky at first but now I love the smell. I started mine from scratch and use regular all purpose flour with great results. Some people use bread, rye, or unbleached flour for theirs and they're all a little different. Just depends on the person, but no, you didn't mess up. Can't wait to see what you make with it!

Bread flour has more gluten in it. Self rising flour has baking powder added to it. You can use all purpose, unbleached or bread flour to make sourdough.

@@thewadsquadbread flour also tends to work a little better for sourdough starter funnily enough. Most of the time starters like the higher protein content

Chudleigh's Apple Blossoms are good! I eat them with vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce. They're from an apple farm in Ontario, Canada and I used to work there in college. I can't believe they're selling their products internationally now 😮 Good for them!

My daughter will be 30 on Valentine’s Day and Casper was her favorite and still is. I was more particular with her TV viewing than my son who came along 10 years later. But I was ok with Casper. If the cussing wasn’t repetitive than, in my mind, it was ok to let a couple curse words fly if I thought the movie was worth it.
Ribs done in the crockpot are easy and delicious. I use the recipe from The Stay at Home Chef.
I think I started daily watching when you were on bed rest with Meredith. But how I found your channel is because I was watching grocery hauls and your Costco hauls kept popping up for me!
Put the ribs ( pre seasoned ones from Costco)in big disposable roaster put in oven on 500 for 1/2 hour then put either Dr Pepper root beer or coke on them cover and follow directions on pack for cooking uncover and put bbq sauce on for 15 minutes flip more sauce 15 minutes flip back a little more sauce. These are so easy and so good.

Kim, I encourage you to watch The Elliott Homestead episode entitled “What to do when your sourdough starter is terrible” (not saying yours is) and she shows you how to convert your sourdough from a wet to a dry starter, that can be stored in the fridge for (months at a time in my case) without having to feed it…game changer!

The Freeze dried sourdough starter you have is the same as the one I started my sourdough with .
now on year 3 with the starter..
At the beginning I followed the directions that came with the starter, wasn't doing well for me at the beginning ... found for me that Whole Wheat flour made for a much happier starter , filtered/bottle water is also important., removing some starter before feeding it... I have found the amount of flour and water don't really matter so much , I add about 1/2 cup Whole Wheat flour to 2 Tablespoons of starter, and enough water till muffin batter consistency.
Don't worry too much about the timing of feeding the starter as long as it is once a day. The timing of feeding IS important when you are going to bake with it.

I never really liked the smell of my starter either. I think some people love it, some people don’t! As long as the bread smells and tastes good in the end it’ll be fine!! 😉 I’ve tried many different types of flour in my sourdough (including bread flour) and it was fine. I’ve kept it in my fridge for 4 months without feeding it and it was still fine. And while you may get different results doing different things I’ve found that starter is way more forgiving than people make it out to be! 😉

I joined a sourdough group on facebook and I've learned you can use pretty much any flour. Just make sure its pancake consistency when you mix it yours looked a little liquidy. Then wait for it to double in size and you can bake with it.

I bought the same containers from Amazon. I bought 2 and was also disappointed at the size. Since I have 2 I do both of the containers the same and when I serve whatever it is, I put one at each end of the table, so it is easier for everyone. I love using them for taco toppings, fruit, veggies, and salad toppings. I do want some that are bigger though.
Those apple pies are delish!!!!! We bake them in the oven though....take longer BUT....the crust (petals) are SO yummy!! The filling divine!!!! Enjoy! ❤

And every year the hole month of October we celebrate the move. Our town is all decorated and people come from states around. Another fun fact, the Twilight movie was filmed here also. Love ya.
