Yep you got that bit right. You guys a breath of fresh air in today's climate of suspicion. Only when someone is offered something for nothing, you’re always thinking where or what’s the catch. There are plenty of people ready to scam and rip you off. So you have to expect householders to be suspicious of anything for nothing. Because that’s the world we live in. Yes the neighbours who turned these guys down will feel gutted. But you need to remember that not everyone is here to do a good deed. Personally I’d rather feel awful if they are going to cost me a lot of money. But if I can see that you have done a first class job. Then if my place needs to be done then then I will more than likely consider paying for this service.
If I had been one of those that turned you down, I would actually feel relieved that your good (great) deed landed on someone else who needed it much more than I. 😊

This family is so blessed to have you help them at their worst moment in life. She was definitely right when she says everything happens at once. I lost my husband to cancer, and now my home is falling apart. Air conditioner going out, aerobic system wall has collasped and my fascia and soffitt also falling apart because of so much rain with no gutters. Keep up the great work guys. The second I saw her smile when answered the door I knew they picked a winner. What an amazing family. I can’t imagine what they are going thru losing a daughter and having a young son at hope so they always have to show that strong face for him. Wish you were near Anthon, Iowa. My husband is 58 and I will soon be 56. We have cared for our son who will soon be 29 years old and is a quadriplegic, has cerebral palsy and low vision. We had a house fire 15 years ago and purchased our current home because it was the only home in town that would accommodate his disability. Unfortunately, it is in need of repair and we can’t afford it! You are amazing!

When she said one living child I knew what happened and they lost a child. When people ask if I have siblings, I say 1 sister and 2 living brothers. It's amazing what you are doing for people. It's sad so many people don't expect kindness, especially elderly. I guess certain group of people brought a lot of scams to Canada and people are legitimately afraid. I am proud to see my fellow Serbs doing the right thing. After what happened to this beautiful family Rudan brothers managed to put smile on their faces at least for a moment and that's priceless! My deepest condolences to the family.

I doubt it's certain group. It's this whole system of "individualist consumerism capitalism". It breaks down any sense of community. It makes people scared of the others because we are bombarded by bad news in the media and we don't have the time to get to know our neighbours or community for lack of time and trust.
