Turn A Gundam definitely isn't something a first-time watcher should watch, it gets pretty meta. And it's implied that every timeline, no matter how it ends, will end up in Turn A.
I don’t know… I think it’s just references/Easter eggs, otherwise it doesn’t really make much sense… It seems to suggest they’re all a single timeline, but then there would have to be a long time between each of them, with the history being lost, maybe regression in tech… Then why would they be producing/storing mostly early UC timeline Mobile suits in the recent past and nothing else? I dunno… I think it’s fine to watch first, but it is cool to get the references.
@@KitsyX Basically for Tomino only UC really matters for both Turn A and G-Reco. Bandai is the one with the insistense that Turn-A is the last series of every timeline and that it keeps reseting everything over and over. There's a recent special called light of life chronicle UC or something like that which is very explicit about that. It's the same for G-Reco, there's a reference to "the past eras including the Universal Century" but everything else only ever references the Universal Century and sometimes Turn A. Really depends on what kind of fan you're talking with. If it's someone who understands Bandai wants Turn A to be connected to everything way more than anyone involved with Turn A ever wanted, it's fine to only talk about it in relation to UC. If it's someone obsessed with Bandai lore from model kid manuals and cryptic guidebooks blurbs then yeah, good luck trying to argue that Turn A isn't the end of every single timeline (and the only point of discussion is whether there's some weird timeline merger before the Correct Century or if history simply keeps repeating over and over until TurnA Gundam series breaks the cycle).
@@42Caio Turn A isn't only UC though. It's explicit that AUs at that time is also part of the dark history. And Bandai just extended it to cover all of AUs
@@shia8938 I know. I just said I really doubt Tomino actually cares or took that into account when doing it beyond making an offhand reference to it. Which is why weird wrinkles like Tomino intending G-Reco to take place after Turn-A (and to him that being a very obvious thing) while Bandai pushing it as before because Turn-A is supposed to always be final happen.
Okay Jay, here's a list of Gundam OPs that didn't appear in your video either because the list missed it or you got caught by rights (if so, you can mark them). 1. Thank you for letting me know on this! I only didn’t put those songs in the video is because it had major copyright to 3 songs I had in there I had to cut it out.
There's nothing like classic hand drawn animation from the 70's-90's Gundam openings and anime in general. It's so beautifully fluid and aesthetically pleasing. Makes a lot of today's anime look like a joke. The songs are so good too.
The voice actor for the main guy in the original Gundam is the voice actor who plays Sabo from ONE PIECE, and the voice actor for his rival character is the voice actor who plays Shanks. Many ONE PIECE voice actors also appear in other Gundam series.
24:10 you're not wrong about Code Geass vibes since the animation/production studio was Sunrise, they did use Clamp studio art style. Examplse of Clamp would be Chobits, XXXHOLiC, and Tsubasa Chronicle, they're known for having very tall and skinny character designs. Also it looks like you're missing some Seed openings (3, 4, and Final Plus opening), as well as Destiny OP 2,3,4. It looks like you saw a variation of Final Plus opening though, might be some weird DVD release they had later on. The point of n*dity in these openings usually is a metaphor or representation of 'baring one's soul', you're looking at them as their souls baring their true thoughts and feelings. Sometimes, when you can't speak to people in an open dialogue because of war and conflict, these bare images of people represents their hearts desperately trying to communicate, trying to find love or peace when war and faction or family won't allow you to. I'm gonna assume a lot of openings/reactions isn't here due to copyright though so I apologize if I offended you!
My favorite Gundam show in 0080 War In The Pocket. If you want to start, there's basically two ways to do it: pick any alt universe Gundam (I'd think Witch from Mercury is a pretty good one to start since its new, its short compared to most other Gundam shows, and also very good) since you don't need to worry about continuity or other shows. The other option is to start with the "Universal Century" stuff, which is considered the "main timeline" and continuity matters; if you want to start with that, you should start with either the original 1979 Gundam show or the compilation films (each version has their own advantages and disadvantages, so I'd say just pick one) and then follow a guide regarding UC Gundam if you still want to check out more stuff.
Part of why the OG Mobile Suit Gundam and Zeta Gundam have such a time gap production wise is because they were technically funded by different companies. Clover had rights to the toys originally, however the toys sales were so bad (because the toys were inaccurate) that it caused the original 79 anime to get cancelled 10 episodes early. Then Bandai bought the rights, funded a revival of the franchise using the massively better (and accurate) gunpla model sales and the rest is history.
Love your reactions to all the openings for a series. Gundam is a good one since its diverse and has a long range. If you haven’t watched them yet, would be cool to see you react to all the Dragon Ball and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure openings
I hadn't seen enough main Gundam shows to the fullest, but probably the ones with my favorite models include Gundam X, G Gundam and Gundam Wing. I also like the SD Gundam spinoffs that give some of the iconic suits very fun personalities to them
Gundam is an OLD Franchise, which I'm sure you've figured out by now. It's as old as the OG Star Wars from the late 70s It's got 1 main continuity (being the Universal Century or UC) as well as multiple Alternative Universe (AU) timelines which serve as a better entry point as they're more standalone stories with many of the same themes you'd see from the UC timeline. My personal favorite has got to be Gundam Unicorn (UC) just for how spectacular it is, being more comparable to anime films (it still holds up today after a decade).
And conversely, Gundam 00 is great for a first-time watcher. Iirc it was Gundam's first foray into HD animation, so it still holds up animation-wise till this day.
Did you know: *Red haired* shanks is Char Aznable(same japanese voice). He's called The *Red Comet* and he pilots *red mobile suits* because apparently he wants to be noticeable in the battlefield. He flies 3 times faster than any mobile suits too that's why they call him the *red comet* because he's so fast and is *red* . If you're interested with his story, check out Gundam The Origin. I like the original Gundam TV series. It's a civil war in space with giant robots and only a few characters have esp like powers. The 80s and 90s songs are really good through.
I didn’t notice the footage being cut, just the audio… If so, this doesn’t seem to include a few openings… It might only be the main shows it includes… Ah well… It’s tough to pick a favourite… The original series is a classic… You might be better off watching the movie trilogy version, although you do miss out on some stuff and there’s like a kinda triangle relationship that is harder to understand without more context from the main series… The series up to V Gundam are in the same timeline (although there are side series and movies that weren’t here… I think novels and games too) The other ones are stand alone mostly, unless there’s a sequel series… Like Seed and Seed Destiny… It’s mostly obvious… Turn A is cooler if you’ve watched the series that came before it, but it’s not a huge deal if you haven’t… G Gundam is pretty fun, it’s a bit like Gundam crossed with Dragon Ball or something similar… But it’s not typical of the franchise, so it might not be the ideal starting series… Ah well lol.
Well i haven't read all the comment but, for the anime Gundam Build Diver Re:Rise the protagonist, Hiroto, pilot à Core Gundam, later upgrade in Core Gundam 2, and his gimmick his to use various Armor and Weapon named after the planet of the solar system and combined with the place they have like: Earthree ( Earth and 3 because she the third planet of the system)
just communication is one of the most iconic song by twomix and a lot of the songs in this I have in my playlists and I really like raise your flag by man with a mission and rage of dusk by spyair a lot of arist that sang the gundams themes are the one's I really listen too
Gundam: Earth's armies and Nazi-like armies living in space fight ZGUNDAM: Earth's military has started a massacre of people living in space, and the people of Earth and people living in space cooperate to stop it. ZZ:Continuation of Z V: Most of the characters die. G:Gundam Fighting Olympics held once every 4 years W: Five boys ride a Gundam and start a terrorist attack X: A story about a boy and a girl who travel to different places and become a couple Turn A: High-tech moon people and 1920's-like earth people go to war. The main character is a moon person, but he sides with the earth.
Don't forget 0080: Stardust Memory, where the voice actor of Solid Snake steals a nuke, and the voice of Vegeta has to chase him down to retrieve it. It's Metal Gear Gundam, just as G is Gundamball Z.
Mobile suit Gundam The witch from Mercury is the latest one and i highly recommend this show for beginners. Overall good animation, soundtracks and decent storytelling and the show is not as long as the other since it has only 24 episodes for both seasons instead of 50 episodes like the other. Also the story isn't as heavily politics like the other ones so it's easier for beginners to understand. I do think it's a bit overated but don't get me wrong, it still would take lots of your tears so be ready. Another notice is that you should watch the prologue episode (or episode 0) before watching the official ep 1. I don't know how's your TH-cam region but at where i am i can watch the whole show for free on TH-cam on tge official channel GundamInfo. That's just my recommendation, feel free to choose what you like, and maybe you can buy and build some gundam plastic model on stream. 😊
I only disagree in that it's not as political, most other series are entirely divorced from the political process whereas G Witch's premise requires the story to regularly feature politicians (who are also corporate overlords), not that this is a criticism, I'm just saying, it has more politics than a lot of other Gundam shows lol
Seems you chose the playlist with 27 unavailable viedeos. so if you want to watch any of the missing ones they are in my playlist. I keep it up to date as many ops get taken down. Also seed destiny op5 is not on youtube at the moment. Edit destiny op5 is back.
Didn't expect this one. I'm a huge gundam fan. If I'm going to recommend which one you should watch, go with either Seed, 00 and or IBO because those have self contained stories and new animation. G-witch too I guess but I haven't watch that one yet, though I heard it's good! It's a girl x girl love story though, I think that's why I still haven't watched it yet. Please don't judge me guys 😅 The original gundam is still best though. Zeta, Char's Counterattack and Unicorn are the goats imo.
Look, honestly you can start from whichever you think the coolest. If you'd like an easy entrance that encompassed the spirit of the whole franchise and kinda like Code Geass, Gundam 00 would be a great start. If you'd like something that's similar to DBZ, G Gundam. Honestly anything could be your first. But if you start with the OG, know that it's an anthology saga that encompasses multiple series that includes The Origin, War In A Pocket, Stardust Memory, Z, ZZ, Char's Counterattack movie, Unicorn, Hathaway, F91 and Victory as all of them set in the Universal Century timeline. I started with SEED though back in the day. Probably a reason why I'm [REDACTED] all the time... yikes. eurgh..
Honestly if you want a entry point given you liking kamen rider I'd say G gundam would be a good entry point. Also Eureka 7 is great it's probably one of my favorite real robot shows.
If you want to try out Gundam, 00 is best to begin with. Only 50 episodes and a movie. It is self contained story and is quite simple to follow of all.
S o there two fun facts I would like to mention about Turn A, but I can't go into too much detail one of them since it is pretty much spoilers. First, the Turn A Gundam itself has arguably the most powerful "weapon" in the entire franchise. Second, is that the Turn A's cockpit is in the crotch. In fact, it is the only mobile suit to have this placement. All others have it either in the head or the chest. Edit: So some facts about Age, the one you said felt like Beyblade. It is considered by most to be one of the worst Gundam series in the franchise. A majority of the mobile suits and weapons, especially on the "good guys" side, look and feel like toys. They don't even get the feeling of weight right. This and story/plot related reasons are why. The reason for the anime being like this is because the anime is an adaptation of games that were targeted at children. What is worse though is that these games, despite being developed before the anime, were released after the anime aired.
I gave up Gundam after IBO, returned for Hathaway, then gave it up again. Then returned for the Seed Movie, and that should about wrap it up… Its a former shell of itself and its peak days are long gone. I saw bits of Mercury which was meh.
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (~ 50 episodes, and its concluding anime movie/film/ova: Endless Waltz), is the only gundam that needs to be watched of the gundams, it's the best one by far pilot/human (mobile-suit / mecha) Heero Yuy (Wing Zero, Epyon) Duo Maxwell (Death Scythe) Trowa Barton (Heavy Arms) Quatre Raberba Winner (Sand Rock) Wufei Chang (Shenlong / Nataku) Mileardo Peacecraft (Talgeese, Wing Zero, Epyon) Treize Kushranada Relena Peacecraft Dorothy Catalonia Lady Un Lucrecia Noin Sally Po
The BEYBLADE Japanese and English openings are all pretty much on par if not better than a good chunk of these openings. Then there are the Eureka 7 openings which are also as good if not a step above most of the gundam openings.
kinda funny you mentioned code geass so much, since the writer for code geass also wrote witch from mercury. he also got his start in anime with another show on here, turn a

Could have used op numbers to make it confusing,as many of the old ones don't have seasons and some that have seasons have multiple per season.
I like the original Gundam TV series. It's a civil war in space with giant robots and only a few characters have esp like powers. The 80s and 90s songs are really good through.
GUNDAM 00 IS THE GOAT
Gundam is PEAK
I didn’t notice the footage being cut, just the audio… If so, this doesn’t seem to include a few openings… It might only be the main shows it includes… Ah well…
It’s tough to pick a favourite… The original series is a classic… You might be better off watching the movie trilogy version, although you do miss out on some stuff and there’s like a kinda triangle relationship that is harder to understand without more context from the main series… The series up to V Gundam are in the same timeline (although there are side series and movies that weren’t here… I think novels and games too)
The other ones are stand alone mostly, unless there’s a sequel series… Like Seed and Seed Destiny… It’s mostly obvious… Turn A is cooler if you’ve watched the series that came before it, but it’s not a huge deal if you haven’t…
G Gundam is pretty fun, it’s a bit like Gundam crossed with Dragon Ball or something similar… But it’s not typical of the franchise, so it might not be the ideal starting series… Ah well lol.
Gundam zz is my favourite and i think you should start with the 1979 gundam
just communication is one of the most iconic song by twomix and a lot of the songs in this I have in my playlists and I really like raise your flag by man with a mission and rage of dusk by spyair a lot of arist that sang the gundams themes are the one's I really listen too
Gundam 00
THE GOAT🔥🔥🔥
Gundam: Earth's armies and Nazi-like armies living in space fight
ZGUNDAM: Earth's military has started a massacre of people living in space, and the people of Earth and people living in space cooperate to stop it.
ZZ:Continuation of Z
V: Most of the characters die.
G:Gundam Fighting Olympics held once every 4 years
W: Five boys ride a Gundam and start a terrorist attack
X: A story about a boy and a girl who travel to different places and become a couple
Turn A: High-tech moon people and 1920's-like earth people go to war.
I heard some many good things about Witch from Mercury I might have to watch it soon. That will be my first ever Gundam show.
I only disagree in that it's not as political, most other series are entirely divorced from the political process whereas G Witch's premise requires the story to regularly feature politicians (who are also corporate overlords), not that this is a criticism, I'm just saying, it has more politics than a lot of other Gundam shows lol
and one more thing beam sabers are a thing before it even appeared in star wars
Think of the Seed Opening has an Adam and Eve vibe for the couples
Seems you chose the playlist with 27 unavailable viedeos. so if you want to watch any of the missing ones they are in my playlist. I keep it up to date as many ops get taken down.
Also seed destiny op5 is not on youtube at the moment.
Edit destiny op5 is back.
Did seed destiny op 5 get blocked because I’m sure it was heavy copyright.
@@jayroro7053 yes but the weird thing is the few that were still around can still be search but when you open it it give you unavailable video.
Would be glad to see you react to the beyblade openings, both jp and eng.
I already did it’s up on the channel! Not for the JP I might do that one soon depending on how the English one goes.
@jayroro7053 oh fr? Well hell ill watch it then. Promise you tho the jp goes real hard as well.
Bro you know that gundam openings are just that many when the reaction vids you guys watch are at atleast 1hr😭💀
gundam00 must watch!!
Seed系の裸OPにめっちゃ困惑しててくろわろたwww
Honestly 00 is 4 for 4 in closings and openings.
Just top tier.
Please don't judge me guys 😅
The original gundam is still best though.
56:43 lmao literally me
If you want to try out Gundam, 00 is best to begin with. Only 50 episodes and a movie. It is self contained story and is quite simple to follow of all.
If I am not wrong you at least missed gundam unicorn and gundam build diver re:rise
I love gundam build fighgter and build try ops
where is meta verse It also by Back on
It's Build fight 10th anniversay
I didn't include it because of Copyright.
i dunno if you started watching any 6 months later but i recommend the original 1979 gundam. zeta is my favorite.
God i love ZZ
Gundam Seed best gundam anime of all time
I gave up Gundam after IBO, returned for Hathaway, then gave it up again. Then returned for the Seed Movie, and that should about wrap it up… Its a former shell of itself and its peak days are long gone. I saw bits of Mercury which was meh.
it's a real shame. they dont make em like they used to
G reco fans😢🥹😭😔
i think you forgot build metaverse
I think that’s on patreon because of Copyright reasons.
@@jayroro7053that was not in the playlist likely the list was updated when witch from mercury came out and metaverse came out last year.
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (~ 50 episodes, and its concluding anime movie/film/ova: Endless Waltz), is the only gundam that needs to be watched of the gundams, it's the best one by far
pilot/human (mobile-suit / mecha)
Heero Yuy (Wing Zero, Epyon)
Duo Maxwell (Death Scythe)
Trowa Barton (Heavy Arms)
Quatre Raberba Winner (Sand Rock)
Wufei Chang (Shenlong / Nataku)
Mileardo Peacecraft (Talgeese, Wing Zero, Epyon)
Treize Kushranada
Relena Peacecraft
Dorothy Catalonia
Lady Un
Lucrecia Noin
Sally Po
The BEYBLADE Japanese and English openings are all pretty much on par if not better than a good chunk of these openings. Then there are the Eureka 7 openings which are also as good if not a step above most of the gundam openings.
not all openings...
kinda funny you mentioned code geass so much, since the writer for code geass also wrote witch from mercury. he also got his start in anime with another show on here, turn a
