- This will be the longest video I ever did these were super long ops and they all sounded really good. Also a quick disclaimer the video I was reacting to had a filters in it I didn't want to take a risk for that. I understand how people when they want to see the videos but I have a patreon that's in the works and you will get a chance to watch it unfilter. Not only is Mamoru miyano a singer in ultra, he's been the voice actor for Ultraman Zero since his debut in 2009, who is consistently one of the most popular ultras and frequently returns in crossovers 😀

Those are good recommendations but I prefer an early Heisei ultraman like The TDG and cosmos, if you're ready for a darker series then start with something like ultraseven X, Nexus and lastly Leo

Here's the most generic outline for the plot of most Ultras. Ultras (usually) originate from the Land of light, a planet in the Nebula M78. The Ultras are essentially peacekeepers (think green lanterns) who protect other planets from evil aliens that try to invade or from kaiju (whether they are from that planet or have come from elsewhere). Usually, the Ultra chases a kaiju to earth where a team of people tasked to investigate strange phenomenon end up encountering the kaiju. One of the team members will end up getting gravely hurt or will straight up die because of either the kaiju or because of the Ultra. To save the human, the Ultra will fuse with them, or, in the case that the person died, the Ultra takes their place essentially living as that person. To return to their Ultra forms, they usually have a medium they use to transform that contains their power reserves. In their Ultra forms, they can only last 3 minutes before needing to recharge their power. If they exceed the 3 minute mark they will run out of power and die.
As for importance, Ultraman, along with Kamen Rider, is the main reason behind the tokusatsu boom that eventually created Super Sentai, Metal Heroes and others like GARO, Gransazers, etc. Specifically to Ultraman, it was the main inspiration behind Pokemon from the monsters to how the pokeballs work. Even some of the moves and Dynamax/Gigantamax are references to Ultraman.
Oh, a thing I forgot to mention, Ultraman is inspired by Jesus' story because Eiji Tsuburaya, the creator of Ultraman and special effects guy for the original Godzilla movie, was Roman Catholic. The references are there if you look hard enough but with the creation of Ultraman Belial as the main fallen/evil Ultra, it's even more obvious.
And belial name is a reference to the prince of hell i think 😅😅😅 if i wrong maybe there's some missplace on it but i think its

Heisei era from Ultraman Tiga
Reiwa era from Ultraman Taiga
And 2016 after debut Ultraman Zero Movie to now called Ultraman New Generation Heroes, with Ultraman Zero as a leader of this generation
My first Ultra Series was 1966 Ultraman. The reason for the gap between Ultraman 80 and Ultraman Great(Towards the Future) was that 80's season did perform well and they considered ending it there. Fortunately, there were specials during the gap so with the interest in the character still being strong they went forward.
Ultra Q is basically Japanese Twilight Zone and Ultraman is suppose to be an Ultra Q spin-off but it's popular till this day
Hell, it's original title was supposed to be Unbalance zone, which you can hear in some of the episodes.
55:05 the singer for this OP is Masayoshi Ōishi, who (as part of the duo OxT) did the opening songs for 3/4 of the seasons of Overlord, SSSS.Gridman, SSSS.Dynazenon, and a bunch of others.
Ultra Galaxy Mega Monster Battle is an spinoff where every kaiju fight each other made to keep the time slot and get a little more money to make the next Ultraman and before Ginga it had some movies about Ultraman Zero
The only openings left for you to watch are all the ones for the Metal Heroes series. Some of the best openings from the 80's and 90's

Some Ultraman dubs are better than others. Both Ultraman Z and Ultraman Blazar have gotten modern dubs that are pretty solid.

Ultraman has gone through some rough times resulting in only movies and side shows to be released while lowering the cost by making some of them just recaps of multiple series but they have overcome and thrive still making new series even releasing episodes on their official TH-cam channel

Between 2007 and 2013 they were doing the Ultraman Zero movies, his debut being in an Ultra Galaxy movie, then having "the revenge of Belial" as a sequel, then some other movies before the new generation heroes started with Ultraman Ginga
in my country ultraman was big thing in my country and broadcast on local tv chanel and i alway miss it cause it brodcast on probably 9 am and in our region the electricy will on at 5 pm and off at 6 am unless it's red on calendar if there red on calender it's on at 10 am ( now on at 12 am) till 3 am ( now dont turn off) . at Sunday i used to wait till the electricty on and goes straight to the tv and watch ultraman that just almost about to end. such a memories
The thing with Ultraman is since the start of the New Generations series in 2013 with Ginga, the franchise became similar to Kamen Rider where it became more focused more on gimmicks to sell the toys. Not to mention, each show has a decrease in production, reducing from over 40 episodes to just about 25 episodes and the reuse of kaijus. So, in-between each show, there will be the Chronicles series which are mostly clip shows. Though, every now and then, there will be spin off that's like a crossover between various Ultramen.
And unlike Kamen Rider, the Ultraman series has representatives outside of Japan that got included in the main canon. The Ultra Force from the Hanna-Barbera cartoon movie, Ultraman Great from Australia, Ultraman Powered from the US and Ultraman Ribut from Malaysia.
Fun fact the monster in the first opening was made by repurpusing a godzilla suit.

@@jayroro7053 The Ultraman franchise was created by Eiji Tsuburaya, who also was the VFX director for most of the early Godzilla movies. So he got to reuse a couple suits from the Godzilla films and modify them into Ultra kaijus, but by Ultraseven they had stopped doing this outside of homages.

Ultraman Mebius is the first time i watch and my favorite series besides Geed, Z, and Trigger.
I'd recommend watching Ultraman X from New Generations as it is as basic as it gets before all the fancy stuff you see in the openings. And you mostly won't need prior Ultraman knowledge to enjoy it. Also the Ultraman is voiced by Bucciarati's JP VA, Nakamura Yuuichi

Not sure if you would connect it or not. But if you ever grew up with Ben 10. But his alien Way Big is based on Ultraman. And Ultraman is what helped give life to Tokusatsu like Kamen Rider and Super Sentai to compete.
Getting to watch Ultraman has been getting easier and easier to watch. As they're starting to release their shows on TH-cam for free with subs or with Ultraman Z and Ultraman Blazar (the current season) English dubs. And a crap ton of DVD and Bluray releases in the States.
I did grew up with Ben 10 it was a classic of mine. I didn’t know they started releasing their shows on TH-cam how long have they been doing that for like release on TH-cam.

There was a lot of Kaiju and alien that I saw in the ops.
There's many seasons that could work well for a starter. But tbh, I'd honestly say go with the newest season, Blazar, as you don't have to worry too much about anything from past seasons. Plus the dub for it, is good. It has Johnny Yong Bosch as the MC, aka Adam from Power Rangers and Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach. :3
I heard Johnny did Ultraman for voicing it. It's dope to see Johnny doing a lot projects now. I might have to pick a season for which one to watch.

I was born in 1999 and my first Ultraman series I watched and loved is Ultraman Cosmos first aired in 2001. The current Ultraman series right now going on is Ultraman Blazar (2023)

There was a dub of Ultraman Tiga but it was by 4Kids so avoid it like the plague. But there have been recent dubs of some of the new shows and specials that are decent. Personally I would just stick with the official English subs we have been given if you want to watch the show.
After Ultaman Tiga series they introduce a Type Change while All Ultraman resident in land of light have 3 color tribe

Ultraman is under tsuburaya production, which also made godzilla. Kamen rider and super sentai are under toei. There's also other series like the seishin series(gransazer, justiriser, sazer-x), garo, kikaider, etc. There's tons to explore in the tokusatsu genre.

@@jayroro7053 depends. Garo is kinda like kamen rider but edgy and contains a bit of nudity, seishin series is good but graphics are older and kinda short in my opinion.
Tsuburaya didn’t make Godzilla, Toho did. Eiji Tsuburaya, Tsuburaya’s founder, did the VFX on Godzilla movies until his death in 1970.
Ginga is kind of a slow burn but gets better in Ginga S because the company that made Ultraman, Tsuburaya, was at a low point where their budget shrunk from how it was before after a legal battle against Chaiyo Productions, thankfully Tsuburaya won. In addition, Ultraman X essentially helped Tsuburaya and the franchise back onto it’s feet
It also explains why Ultraman took a long break, skipping out a bit on the early 10’s
And I guess they need more hired employees.

You're not wrong - Godzilla and Ultraman were created by the same person, Eiji Tsuburaya.

-Ultraman Z is a diciple of Ultraman Zero so there are episodes that both of them stick together outside their own season.
-Ultraman Zero has an archnemesis name Ultraman Belial and they fight each other everytime they met even in other series/movies for almost 15 years now.
-Etc.
If you want to start. You can go with the newwest one, Ultraman Blazar. You don't have to worry about conection with other series cuz it don't have any.

First season I watched was Ultraman Orb as it was recommended to me, but my favorite is Ultraman Geed, complemented by the Ultraman Zero movies that came before the season, movies i specify in my other comment
Ultraman Max is voiced by Zoro.
Ultraman basically have the power of lights. So they have ability to use that power to shoot some kind of laser beam from their body.
Ultraman Jack is my favorite (used to be called "Return of Ultraman"), hope you give it a watch and react to it.
Next is Ultraman Leo, it was a tragic, both for the story and the showrunning (watch along you'll see why), but it has good moral and the fighting choreography is the best.
And generally, Ultraman Tiga has the best quality and it's the most popular as well.
Man you should react to Ultraman Nexus series, Nexus is one of the best Ultraman Series of all time, it has a really dark and horror story, it worth a watch

ultraman have the most connectivity out of the three kamen rider and super sentai, they are related and have its own lore like how the godzilla, the crossover also make sense unlike the rider and sentai, they also have this similar power troupe like shooting laser from arm and hand with cool poses.. but if you’re interested in watching any of these.. i’d recommend ultraman nexus.. the one with two opening that you’re banging with .. actually kind the only one that sort of consider as standalone series also with darker tone

No gomess is it's name and the why it look like Godzilla is because they reused the one of the Godzilla suit if you want to know. For my favorite are tiga,dyna,gaia,nexus/nao,mebius,seven,taro,leo, and the og ultraman.
Netflix ultraman is about a story if only the first ultraman came to earth, its good but you wont see much big kaiju since they make the villain human-size and the ultramans in the series is all made of suits, and human-size. Only one of them has true ultraman power

Netflix (ironman) ultraman may look bad but it gets better in S2 and S3 in particular, S1 helps set up our hero protag who is trying to find his identity and role.

I did watch Ultraman Tiga Eng Dub, at the time that was around 2002 I think, on the FoxBox (previously known as FoxKids), there were other shows like Kirby: Right Back at Ya, Ultimate Muscle, Fighting Foodons, etc. I was really psyched to see Ultraman again and I had no idea there were previous Eng dubs, but this was prob the first one that really popped on national TV in America.
The version you saw for Tiga eng dub was def the US version, there's also other versions including DVD, but they're not as good in terms of video cilp selection for the same opening song.
