7:49 love the show and being able to follow along with your progress. I’d like to respond to your request for comments at this point about where on the dev-slimy scale you should settle. I don’t think you need to move more slimy on the scale just yet but I have some ideas for you. Have you read the Lean Start Up by Eric Ries? Some good insight on experimentation to evaluate impact of changes. Not sure of your current experiment setup but I suggest AB test may help you pinpoint what works/doesn’t work. Also what are the trial users‘s activity like after trial expiry? Are they dropping use of the app altogether? If not then I feel that it’s working but pointing to your idea that there isn’t enough value in paid trial features yet. To help you there, were the users using paid features during trial at all? If yes this may mean that price isn’t working. Fascinating topic, sorry if you answer these later in video; just paused here to comment.
Thanks man. Since your product is for TH-camrs, consider running TH-cam ads for it. Maybe pause the ASO for now. Put more resources on yet ads. Remember people have to search for your app in the first place.
Love the show I started IOS development 3 years ago and definitely your HOW TO videos helped me a lot and now getting marketing knowledge, ASO & paywall tips following your videos, am fortunate that I will release my second app with IAP at the same time that your show is about marketing and ASO, thanks Sean
I did an experiment with the rating prompt - I am showing the prompt during the user's account creation. There's is a slight delay (asynAfter) just so that I can show the prompt while the user is "waiting" for the account to be created. My number of ratings doubled in a month or so. It's worth trying.
Thanks for sharing your experiment, Maros! It can be debated exactly WHEN to show it or how aggressive to be... but I think it's clear that most developers aren't asking for ratings enough.
The quality episode keep coming! Super interesting to see the difference with that free trial verbiage. I personally don't think it's sketchy to say "Decline Free Trial" in that example. That is what they are doing at that point in time. Your comments and examples on paywall design gave me some good stuff to think about too!
The free users are the ones that will ultimately go to paid if the new features post-wwdc are as good as you hope. That is bc those users are the ones that you will be able to show the value to in the app. I wouldn't worry about conversions before that IMO (altho I am no expert).
If a user hits decline free trial, hit them with an alert that says something along the lines of "Are you sure you want to reject the free trial this is the only time it is offered" I implemented that in my app and have seen free trial uptake drastically increase.
Start Free Trial (14 days) Decline Limited-Time Offer If they decline make the free trial only 7 days. You can adjust trial lengths to what you think is best. But this seems to be the best of both worlds.
Just take the best bits from Netflix, TH-cam and Amazon primes payment wall flows. They would have spent a lot of time and money doing all the AB tests 😂
I release the segments as separate videos for discoverability on TH-cam. The shorter, more focused clips will get discovered years from now WAY more than the full episodes. I'm not reusing the content to dupe you.
@@seanallen 100% understandable, but I agree that it feels weird uploading the snippets before the full episode. The other way around (like you did previously?) feels better. So full episode first, then single snippets a few days/weeks later.
As you noticed, I've been experimenting with posting them before or after. They both have their pros can cons. I need to think of how to release clips in a reasonable way.
Why you shouldn't design your app - th-cam.com/video/fnOS_w2Vk18/w-d-xo.html
Hope this series continues! Was really loving it
Agree! I'm checking every few days for the next episode.

Love the show and having a chance to follow along with you! Thanks for sharing your insights.
Glad you enjoyed it, Michael!

What a great introduction about churn, thank you Sean !

Glad you're enjoying it so far! More to come.

Great one! Are we to expect episode #4?
Next week :)
@@seanallenCan't wait! I'm really hoping you didn't decide to stop this series.

Great video! This is helping me a lot as I launch an update for my own app. Thank you!

I agree. It's easy to get caught up in seeing new trials start and wanting to convert them. I need to avoid the "shiny objects" and stick to the plan.
very nice video, thank you! I would also like to see videos about freelancing tips/tricks
Glad you liked it, Jan.
Great episode Sean! I love following this series!

Thanks for the tip Peter! I've got to rethink this.

Interesting idea 🤔
That you very much
Nice job Sean
Thanks Steve!
Can you make a intermediate course that does not require a paid Apple Developer’s account?
I have an advanced course coming later this year that won't require a developer account.
🔥

I think you are forgetting the most basic reason why people don't covert: PRICING
Try adjusting your price to 9,99 for starters.
i don’t like how you use snippets from previously uploaded videos in a "new" episode and i see segments which i already saw
the whole churn segment...

I feel like all of these numbers are too low to be anywhere near significant for any type of analysis.
I agree. Super small sample size. Just sharing my thought process as I build my app.
