Thank you Antonia. I like your English and Russian lessons. I am a Pole with some Russian origins, ancestors. now I live in London. Russian, English and Czech are my favourite foreign languages to learn. More and more people in Poland start to learn Russian. It is very beautiful language and it is real pleasure to read Russian novels or watch Russians films in original.
I watched the video and still don't get the difference between these two forms when talking about posession. I feel like mostly british english speakers use the have+got form. And why even bother with the longer one when the simple "have" form is more versatile? Is there any case where "have got" cannot be replaced by simply "have" ??
Ma'am you gotta beautiful teachin style you elaborated the video and made it quite easy for us how to use this all thanks a lot .would you plz tell what does the word( crashing town )mean I heard this word in one of the Taylor Swift's song
I was wondering. I came across a new way to say because otovo chto. What does it mean? Are there any differences between iz za tovo chto and potomu chto?
Thanks a lot) I have a question?Could you tel me please: "I have got a cold" or "I have a cold" They are both correct or not? . I don't understand what different between "to have" and " to have got" (lexically). I use only "to have" but I hear that native speakers use "to have got " and I don't understand When is it more appropriate to use " to have got"? For example : 1)I have got enough money or I have enough money.2) What time do you have your flight or What time have you got yor flight?3) I have got a snack or I have a snack.
+Valeria Sinkevich 1. 'I have a cold' is more popular, as to have a cold is a set expression 2. 'I have got enough money' or 'I have enough money' - both are possible, the same goes for №3 and 4. I explained it in the video, watch it one more time, better both parts --> th-cam.com/video/42oFegm0rRk/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/dV7xEjpWeW8/w-d-xo.html
Hello Valeria. I am an Australian, aged 62 years. As Antonia said; there is no difference. It is interesting that when I was 14 years old my English teacher forbid usage of the word 'got' in her presence. We were not allowed to use it at all. Looking at Antonia's example of: "I gotta go!" I would have to say: "I must go!" The word 'got' was considered as evidence of a lack of grammatical knowledge, so naturally we used it to tease our teachers! One of her objections to it's usage was that it was meaningless and actually redundant in a sentence. As you see, that has not changed. Perhaps it's usage now is one of emphasis, for example, "I have got to go now." conveys a sense of urgency or compulsion that "I have to go now." does not.(Oh, look at the time, now I really have got to go!)
"Have got" is stipulating you have possession of an article twice, "haven't got" should read - "I do not have" keep it simple. Sounds better and it's direct - I believe it is more grammatically correct. This is what I was taught in the 1960's.
Hi,i want to share somthing that ur teaching style is very easy to understand,i found u more easier to me... here is the little confusion to me that if i say "Today i have to wake up at 7 am" how can i use this sentence in past using the verb have...

You probably already know this but just in case you don't although opossum is considered the official way of saying this animal most English speakers say just possum well at least they do where I live in the southern US. I'm pretty sure every English speaking area does this I could be wrong though.
hi iam from saudi arabia , thank you for the lesson ,secondly , i have my 9 years son i'm trying to find good school during summer holiday , do you have any suggestion where i can send him aboard to learn english , thanks for your time .
vvnsurendra garapati you can say "I have got a movie" but the meaning will be "I have a DVD disk with the movie", "I have it", "I possess it". If you want to say that you had watched it, the only way to say it is "I have watched a movie" or "I have watched the movie"

+rafalsz1993 the problem is that people make mistakes, creating sentences. For example, you cannot say
'Do you have got a pen?' etc
Can you make these 2 sentences cleared please? " Do you have a pen?" is American, " Have you got a pen?" is British. Am i correct?
now am start to get the best your video .Thank you very much ..

Can i say i dont have to ? Or say i have not to ??
'I don't have to' is correct, but if you use 'to' after 'have', then is it an equivalent of a modal verb.
