2017 Maserati Ghibli Air, Cabin, Oil Change & Service Light Reset

- Here is a short edit of replacing the air and cabin filter, doing an oil change and resetting the oil service light on my 2017 Maserati Ghibli. The part link are below and the oil was purchased at my local auto store.

Im in the group that likes nice cars, and can afford to purchase the actual car, but would struggle with the cost to maintain at the dealership. Videos like these are extremely helpful to keep my costs down. Thank you.

@@WRXSNOWBOARDER - Agreed. Just purchased my 2015 Ghibli and watching videos for common How To's. Yours was in depth, and very easy to follow. My understanding is a filter and oil service at the dealer is $600-800. This is an hour max service with maybe $100-150 in parts. It's a no brainer for someone with basic to moderate skills around a car.

Quick word of advice, there are two different type of oil filters that almost look alike the only difference is the secondary O ring that's closer to the filtering material itself. It's a subtle difference but always match with the old one.

Thanks for the great video. To make oil changes easier, I'd like to replace the drain plug with a Fumoto style drain valve, but I can't verify the drain plug size and thread. Would you happen to know that?
No I don't know the size or thread either. I have the fumoto for my Subaru but I change the oil on that every 3500 to 4000. It comes in handy there but it's not much of use to me on the maserati only being used once every 10 to 12 months.
Quick question, after the steering wheel airbag deployed and has been replaced can a machine reset the airbag light or will it need the srs module replaced/reset? I know some cars are different
I belive you would need to replace and reset the module. Once it goes I'm not sure it can be reset without it. I'd ask around some more though as I'm not 100% on that.

My engine light would turn off when I started the car. If you are seeing the wrench light then you will need the obd tool to reset it. If the engine light stays on when driving then you will need to get the car scanned to see what code it is giving.

I have 2019 ghibli did oil change & oil filter went used my tool x-200 Pro reset oil service light at end it said service failed!!! What should I do.
I am not sure what would be causing it. Make sure you press the start button once without your foot on the pedal before starting the process. An email to the obdstar company may help. There shouldn't be any reason for it not to work.

Do you think buying not OEM air filters affect the car?
I dont think it would be any different than getting k&n like a lot of people do. As long as there's not a leak in the filter itself the car will adjust the AFR scale.

@@thewiseguy7100 Gotcha. I feel comfortable after all the aftermarket parts I've swapped in my Subaru. The Maserati build is much more solid with with how all the components operate vs how finicky the Subaru is.
WRX SNOWBOARDER I have a code which is p0299”turbo underboost “.. I checked everywhere and see I have a big dent and hole on one of the Intercooler a. Do you think that’s what is causing the check engine light?

Dose it work on routine maintenance overdue?
Are you at 36k mine said routine maintenance overdue and it cleared it out. If you have any light on besides the wrench icon it may not work.

8qts? Manual says 7.3 liters with with filter which makes about 7.8qts give or take
@@WRXSNOWBOARDER got it, I have to do lof for one of my costumers & was just briefly looking at the manual, m157 is MB engine as well & I know MB had wrong dipstick issues a bunch of times on their engines
Nope you’re wrong. It’s a little above 8 quarts.
Ghibli base and Ghibli S are 7.3 quarts. The SQ4 is 8.3 quarts. In this video I added 8.5 quarts.

The other video I watched he added only 3 quarts of oil. Same car. ? ???
What? If they only added 3 then they are probably buying a new engine. It's 7.3 for base and s models and 8.3 for the sq4

Did you notice power increase and sound
I would say a slight bump if any. The main difference is hearing the car run smoother. What I mean by that is that the cars engine runs and idles at a lower volume.
