This happened to me in surgery 34 years ago. I couldn't feel the surgery but could hear what everyone said in the operating room. I told the doctor after the surgery, and he said you couldn't have heard us. It bothered me, so in 7 days in his office I told him what radio station they listened to and what they were saying. I told him what instruments the doctor was asking for , and I had no clue what they were before the surgery. Then I saw the look on his face, but he never acknowledged what i told him. I've had several surgeries since then, and I always let them know what happened years ago so it doesnt happen again.

bernadette: The same thing happened to me, over 34 years ago, with many of the same details as your experience. And the doctor said same thing- you couldn't have heard. I heard the instruments being named, the name of another doctor who came in (while I was 'under'), all things I hadn't known about before surgery - conversations about me and my condition.

I have medical PTSD After spending 12years in pain and being treated like a drug addict. Two.colorectal surgeons refused to ha a defagram study on me and told me that I was “ just constipated from all the pain medicine I was on”. It wasn’t until a third colorectal surgeon agreed to see me even though I was on narcotic pain medicine and she ordered the defagram study( the test I needed all those 12 years) and actually found out I had been suffering from a clorectal Enterocele!! Every time I had a bowel movement my intestine was being pushed in between my abdominal cavity and my pelvic cavity and being strangulated and not allowing me to pass stool!!
My life was destroyed because doctors assumed I was a drug addict when in fact I had true pain all those years. She did surgery immediately and from then on I never had that pain again!!

I was in a psych hospital and given Abilify. It made me restless and like I wanted to pee all the time tho I didn't need to. When I told this to the doctor, he turned to the resident next to him and said, "this is an alpha..." something (it's receptors). So I knew from him explaining to the resident that this was something he expected. I growled, "you _knew?_ And you _didn't tell me?_
I tell all my doctors, now, ever since him (he never paid attention to me) that I expect every healthcare practitioner to treat me as a peer. I ask questions until I am satisfied that I know what I need to know, how I need to understand it. I say that up front so there's no vagueness between us. My psychiatric nurse practitioner brings that up in group sometimes (with my permission) that I said the same thing to her the first day. I think she does that to to empower the other people in the group. I'm glad she does.
I can't stand being ignored by my doctor. I've fired a couple of doctors for ignoring me.

Good for you! Drs can be very arrogant sometimes. Not all of them of course. But it takes some good questioning to weed the bad ones out. I was transferred to another Dr when mine left the area. At my first appt with him he began questioning me in strange ways that raised my defenses. I am on a mild anti-anxiety medication and have been for years. He knows nothing of my history as to why nor did he ask. Unbeknownst to me he lowered my RX count and also drug tested me for multiple street drugs. That’s right. At 68 I stand on street corners to make huge amounts of money by selling these little pills to supplement my retirement. He must have been very disappointed at the results of testing me. In addition, at that first appointment he said in a very derogatory tone, “so what, are you a nurse or something?” He said it was because of the terms I was using. Feeling threatened much? I actually was a surgical unit secretary for 20 years and must have absorbed too much medical terminology, part of my job. What an arrogant jerk! I held my own fine. But when I saw my lab results on the portal I went ballistic on him and fired him. Later I discovered my medication dosage had been lowered from 3 per day to 2. But I had the last laugh on him as my previous Dr had doubled the strength of my dosage. That was so I could cut them in half and have enough to cover me for my 2 month annual vacation in FL. He just never changed it back because he knew and trusted me. So after I decided on a new primary, at my first appt he asked me how he could be the Dr I needed him to be and what things were very important to me. I had just one word. Trust. I would gladly trust him if he would trust me, which meant I could ask any questions I needed to. He said “of course, that goes without saying, unless I find something to doubt about you in which case I will give you the benefit of the doubt and ask you about it first”. I have had a great relationship with him now for several years. Is it any wonder that he no longer takes on new patients? He is well respected by all. People need to remember that the Dr works for them, they are not there for the Dr. It is their right to stand up for themselves and in this day and age, being your own health advocate with anyone who treats you may save your life. Stay informed, well read and understand fully your diagnosis(ses) so you can ask intelligent questions and no one takes advantage of you.

One takes a unique approach on readily available products combined specifically to create a protocol that actually reverses cavities, and the other one has a more natural approach. Nutrition is also important. Mark Burhenne is another. i'm not sure which method is hands down the best, but it's very hard to get to age 66 without having dental issues in today's society. And no dentist that I know of will clue you in on real helpful preventive much less cavity reversing interventions that don't Put big money into their pockets. Mouth breathing is another culprit in screwing up our teeth. Dr. Elie said that her method has kept her teeth so clean and pristine but she hasn't had to have a dental cleaning in decades.

Uncomfortable- hospitals are filled with mass produced medical equipment and unless a patient has a bed sore or at high risk for one, they aren't going to be "getting" a semi more comfortable mattress. Fix- sorry, you're not going to want a more "comfortable" mattress cause they are noisy as frick.
Loud- well, one, less surfaces create less hiding places for bacteria while at the same time having less surfaces to "absorb" sound.
Asking these questions about a hospital? Are you sure you aren't not neurotypical? Only ask cause I'm not neurotypical and go through these questions myself before remembering "oh yeah, it's a hospital but I shouldn't be here for more than 6 days".

It's my opinion that the patient should not be left shivering when they could be given blankets. They should be left to sleep without five interns flipping on all the lights and standing around the bed at three in the morning. Patients need comfort and rest to heal. 🤍

It wasn’t okay at all. I’m so sorry you went through that. Unfortunately, you’re in good company - this practice is all too common. It’s one of the many reasons I used to volunteer as a doula, at the county hospital near my house at the time; so people in labor and their partners, where present, would have somebody in their corner.
You didn’t deserve what happened to you, in any way. You deserved for your personal sovereignty to have been respected, and for meaningful consent to have been sought and again, respected.
Very unethical, in my opinion, but so many doctors are so drunk on their own power, they’re completely out of touch with any kind of ethical compass they may, at one time, have possessed.
I would encourage you to find a doula and ask if they will help you process that trauma by talking it out together. A good doula knows how to help you reframe what happened in ways that respect and do not minimize, but which compassionately remind you of what a powerful survivor you are, and how fiercely you showed up for your baby. I hope this helps - and thank you for your service. Blessed be! 💜⚡️

You’re spot on regarding doctor’s having experienced pain often correlating with how they understand and treat chronic pain patients.
I know a doctor who told me himself that living with chronic pain changed is perspective dramatically.
I also had a nurse who was treating a chronic wound comment how she felt that patients struggling to cope with the pain during wound care and dressing changes on relatively superficial wounds.
She then had to go through it herself after a motorcycle accident left her with a wound on top of her kneecap. Same to many triggers before and after the surgery., oxygen to 70 on my pulse ox. Can’t get air in nor out. Told many things when I asked. Started to receive papers from my insurance company saying I was enrolled in their severe, high risk asthma program. Given asthma action plans. Told ask your Doctor, I did. I never was told asthma. Never told anything about asthma action plan. I keep asking because I want to feel safe in any future medical procedure where I will be put out. Am I somehow wrong to keep asking? The IV had infiltrated and my hand was full of fluid! None went into my vein! I was in so much pain in my abdomen I didn't realize my hand was huge until I got in the car to go home! I took pictures and sent them in with a complaint. They didn't care at all! Oops! They treated me horrible because they gave me pain medication but I did not receive the benefit of any of it! There’s another, more obvious difference between the two bags-one is NOT in a bag, and one is. Up here you use your own bags that you have unwrapped and labeled with whatever medications that *you* have injected into that bag. Also bags aren’t heated, even blood except in some instances. However, perhaps it’s different in a clinic?
So surprising that an anesthesiologist would do that, even just for all the years of schooling, blood, sweat, tears, and the sheer cost of that education. So sad for everyone affected, including his coworkers, and even the damage done to trust in the system, as you mentioned.

I've been gas lit so many times no one would believe me if I told them about it all. I'm surprised I trust my current doctors (I have a complicated medical history), but I do for the most part now. It takes a lot of advocating for yourself, and taking my spouse with me has really made a difference. As Dr. Kaveh has said in the past, those who are female, overweight and elderly are more prone to gaslighting; and I'm all three. My current GP saved my life once when I had PEs (blood clots in the lungs) and an ER doc sent me home from the hospital scolding me for going to the ER for a "non life threatening condition" and said I was just anxious, and accused me of somehow altering an EKG by wiggling, so repeated it while watching me with the same abnormal results. My PCP diagnosed me the next day after a CT scan which she refused to do, put me on blood thinners, but I still had a TIA a few days later, and ended up with the same ER doc at the hospital, unfortunately, who still treated me horribly. That's just one time out of many I've been gas lit.
Wishing all health and success in all life endeavors.

Then, why is it patients are not allowed to know who is the doctor doing the sleep part of the surgery BEFORE their surgery? THAT IS RIDICULOUS!

I was treated like crap by a resident. A friend of mine was treated the same way. By the same ER resident. I have overy cells left over from a complete hysterectomy. That turned into cysts once a month after surgery! They said i was 1 in a million. Id end up in the ER. And i was treated like dirt or less then dirt. I told them it was my side, and they said i complained about my stomach. The guy completely didnt listen! He treated me like a drug addict . I made them call my dr. I told them. What was going on. My dr. Told them to treat my pain but they were not n I ce to me. Even when the guy was told he was wronge!

I had a back fusion surgery in 2017. The surgeon went through my left side instead of the bacrk. I woke up with no feeling in my left leg. The surgeon literally told me I was imagining it. I couldn't walk without a walker because my leg would collapse. I'm certain he was afraid I was going to sue, so he continued to deny what I was going through. I worked really hard to be able to walk again. I joined a gym to continue to gain strength in my leg. I still have no tactile sensation in my left leg. No reflex either. I just have to continue to workout and keep the muscles strong. Even then, every once in awhile my leg wants to collapse underneath me.

I grew up in pediatrics with my doctor telling my parents. "These are his options this is his care" " he has feeling and function". I made desperate attempts to get taken into care. Called the police to the house. My consultant had doctors i wasn't under come onto the ward to ask " what feeling and function do you actually have"

I was too younger to recognise i was being watched. As soon as i was 16 i sadly refused to go to my adolescents appointment to receive dsd treatment because i could go into that environment without full power of consent. Im assuming dude to chronic stress my favourite thing to do was to wake under anesthesia and try and leave.

I live here in Western Australia and I have just become aware of Parasites (worms) and the damage that they can do in our bodies ie: eating brain tissue, blocking our arteries getting into our lungs, bowels, heart etc etc…
I’m 63 this year and I have never had any Doctor mention Parasites that could be the problem. I am suffering with bowel issues now over 20 years and I’m very concerned with my brain as my Mum has had Alzheimers now over 10 years and the rest of her siblings have died from Dementia/ Parkinson’s disease. I’m fed up to the back teeth not getting to the root cause of these diseases and many other diseases too.
I’ve have lost total trust in the many doctors I have seen in my lifetime to help me.
Also I would prefer natural remedies NOT Pharmaceutical poisons.
Thank you for this video and making us the people aware.
PS: I have been told that I’m lactose tolerant, Gluten intolerant and the gut doctor told me that I probably/ thinks I have IBS. Those are the words he said., not mine.

Literally, every other doctor I have dealt with in Arkansas refuses to work with patients with allergies - especially the sulfa allergy. You are gaslit beyond belief because those doctors don’t know how to treat them and refuse to learn!!

IBS is an easy answer when they dont know. What is irritating the bowel? Why do so many of us have it & what causes the syndrome!

When I worked in theatre it would typically be the anaesthetists assistant/nurse putting iv bags in warmer so that instantly strikes me as strange, like a dr scubbing instruments it just doesnt happen. Greetings from Aus

This is why I always have ALL my surgeries video taped!! As a medical professional, I select and dismiss residents and anesthesiologists from participating in my procedure!! ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️

Wow I'm so glad I stumbled across this channel thank you for you're knowledge and for passing it on. I've recently been diagnosed with severe aotic stenosis I think that's right and I'm a bit lost , you see I've been with my GP now for 10 year's with a good rapport until this last year too year and a half and I need him now more than ever but he's pretty horrible these day's. He went on holidays once so I needed my script's and went to another Dr just while he was away and when my general GP came back and on our next appointment he actually went off on me verbally for going to another Dr, I've lost all trust and rapport that we did have so I'm so nervous around my heart operation. Sorry for rant but thank you so much for what you are doing. From Brisbane Australia 🇦🇺
