Zdzisław Beksiński is likely to be the greater source of inspiration for the design of this game rather then HR Giger. But anyways, I do really like the look of this demo so thanks for playing this Biny as i didnt know it existed!
Perhaps, but there is quite a bit of overlap between the two, and Giger is the more famous artist, so I don't blame Vinny for making the connection.

Beksiński was also a heavy inspiration for Scorn. It's in their artbook. The artbook was better than the game imo.

The heavy Zdzisław inspirations are amazing to see in a game.
I'm just happy that people are appreciating these weird artistic walking simulators. I think they're neat.

I'm saddened by the fact that people can't tell the difference between HR Giger and Zdzislaw Beksinski's work :// Their styles are very different. But at least people are learning more about Beksinski's work through this game!

I mostly listened while working but I looked 2 or 3 times and each time did a double take thinking he was playing a modded Oblivion
Biggest problem from what I can see is the animations. Some of them combined with the high quality models remind me of asset flips.
See 32:00-32:28 with the de-synced walking animation, the throw that doesn't convey any weight, the linear slide of the skull, and all the clipping happening.
Yeah that's my biggest issue with the game. The animations have just too much of a cartoony character. My other issue is that it looks very reminiscent of Beksinki but doesn't FEEL like Beksinki somehow. I think it's all the dialogue

The sound and visual design is top notch, but boy howdy do some of those animations need a lot of work.
Yea, people are comparing this to Scorn, whereas that game had mostly really great animations with a focus on minute details and realistic movements. Not too fussed, but it could use some work.

Giger is flesh and metal, this is not Giger inspired like Scorn was.

It's like the predecessor to weird surreal horror atmosphere games.
I'm sure the anime style of the characters in those versions will totally hook Vinny over the gritty original style on both the Saturn and the PS1.

This game looks really cool but I'm not a fan of how dialogue heavy it is. It kinda just takes me out of it. I think they should just let the art design and atmosphere speak for itself and leave more up to interpretation
I have a similar opinion on this. These ancient, eldritch beings are very chatty and just quote poetry at you.
It's a bit pretentious feeling and jarring, but I'm not too fussed by it. It seems they're going for an afterlife plot, so maybe all the poetry and human aspects will be justified a bit.
I'd just personally prefer a more atmospheric approach, too, like what Scorn did (there was literally no dialogue). This game reminds me a bit of Agony with the whole afterlife and janky animation thing, but this looks LEAGUES better than that game, so it'll hopefully turn out to be a decent or pretty good game in this style. Just my thoughts, though.

Everyone keeps sayings it's HR Giger inspired because they don't know other kind of art in that style.
It's Zdzisław Beksińsk inspired. Tho I don't get these games, they seem pretty damn boring asides it being amazing to look at, they are just puzzle games.. They should remain paintings unless your going to do something DOOM style. Or just something more interactive with the world.. Because this game and SCORN I bet won't sell that good for that reason.

the way this is made is so frustrating to me everything is scattered around with no logic or thought, it's like they got a bunch of assets and tried to fill an environment instead of actually planning it out, scorn at least knew what it was doing though unfortunately all of the context is in the art book

The composition in this game sorta sucked, they just took a bunch of visual cues and slapped them together without thinking about the context of them in the original pieces.

I literally found out about this game yesterday through Ross Scott's game list and lost interest the moment I saw it looked like a Scornlike.
Now it is time for Bimpnyee to make me give it a second look.

Vinny. Vinny, Vinny, Vinny. It's pronounced "GEE-guh", not "GUY-guh". The man was a genius, the least we can do is afford him the respect of saying his name correctly. **EDIT** which you do like 2 minutes later. You've a very complex lil shroom, Vincenzo.
Knowing the audience of his streams, I'm sure there were several viewers much like yourself that immediately pulled the "um, ackshually," card in chat as soon as it was mispronounced, and Vinny probably saw multiple corrections over the span of the following 2 minutes. Giger is a Swiss surname, why would you expect an American to default to the Swiss pronunciation? That's like getting upset at English speakers mispronouncing Vincent Van Gogh's name the way it looks like it would sound in English, although the man was Dutch and pronounced differently. I didn't even find out the proper pronunciation until I was in college and Van Gogh was brought up by my art professor during class. Pronouncing his last name Van-Goh is much more common during my experience living in the US.
I have no doubt that your way is the proper Swiss way of pronunciation, but I've never heard it pronounced Gee-Guh in my entire life. Not through listening to director's commentaries in films inspired by his art or while watching video essays on projects with which he was associated. They say Gye-Gur or Gee-Gur nearly every time, with a hard ER. Because that's how it looks like it would sound in English.
Fun fact. We actually say Van Gogh in the UK and its weird to me every time i hear an American say Van Go.

Darkseed literally had straight up giger art photoshopped into the enviroment art, and I wouldn't describe that game as "scornlike" since it came out in the 90s
