Today I'm talking about size. Specifically, about the size of gags being sent to be to wear in videos, and what I think's going on here. I don't want to see more performers get injured by working with equipment that's too big for them, so I here I am, discussing the fact that the artistic output many of my friends and I produce is made on the canvas of women's bodies, so being respectful of those bodies' limits is important!

When you look at the size of the bigger gags and the straps through them it looks like they’re intended for a male’s much bigger head and, therefore, jaw. While there’s definitely an element of enjoying seeing the ‘struggle’ of being pushed, it’s *absolutely right* to refuse to insert anything anywhere where it’s unreasonably oversized and risks damage.
This was very enlightening and a bit refreshing to hear. Every time I come across the words "3-inch ball gag" my head spins. I thought I was the strange one for so long. I know I have a small mouth, 2 inches may as well be 10 to me... But to hear it's not just me. That the standards really are dangerously too large. I'm glad you talked about this.

In all seriousness, as a bondage producer, I don't require any model to wear a ballgag during a shoot. I do make my own ballgags out of a whiffle golf ball (about 1 inch in diameter) and a shoelace. Most models who can wear ballgags can accomodate them pretty well. I also encourage models who are active in the bondage world to get their own ballgags and bring them to their shoots. Models who bring their own gags know where the gags have been, know their cleanliness, and know they'll fit. - Moraxian

When I saw this come up on my TH-cam Feed, my first thought was "She's not going to try a Sadie Bell ballgag, is she?" That's kind of what that last ball you held onto reminded me of....
I've often thought that maybe people who produce bondage content should actually try it themselves first, to see what's comfortable and what's uncomfortable and even painful for a long time afterword. I've been tied as well as tying, and there was one time somebody bound my wrists in such a way that lost feeling in the palm of my hand for months. (I was afraid then that I might have damaged the nerves permanently.)

I totally agree with you. I'm a male transvestite and the largest ballgag I can manage is 54.2 mm (2.13 inches) and it is not comfortable. And as you rightly point out most female models will have real problems, and posibly suffer real harm with this size. Perhaps producers who want their model to wear a ballgag should ask them to try the 'fit' test you performed for easy entry and removal and accept the result. I've done that with play partners who want to try but are not sure. I would want see thatbit wii fit but much more importantly that they freely consent and we have some agreed signal to unstrap it if they end up uncomfortable despite the test and initial agreement.
Having smaller sizes available is also a good idea...bigger is by no means necessarily best
I really love the look of a ball tagged woman I do not like the larger gags. I like to see the woman's lips around the gag. U don't even mention the trend of these multilayered, cloth packed and then taped over gags. Or the extreme, tight tape gags that really cut into the faces of the models. I like seeing the models faces and not have them distorted too much by gags.
Toys are meant to be fun not torture even in BDSM. Being a total novice on the field, but that's my two cents worth.
I don't think it's down to the need for larger ball gags, but the manufacturers making items from in stock items. They seem to get a leather/plastic strap and thread any kind of round object on them. No regard for the end use and no idea of any health and safety issues.
If this was any other industry...
If you were an employer who asked an employee to lift a heavy box that they did not have the adequate strength and training to lift and risked themselves injury to do so, then you could and should be sued for the subsequent injury, and the employee would have the right to refuse and/or get assistance to do so safely, or make the load lighter, etc. The same principles should absolutely apply here.
Actresses should have equal power to the producers, regardless of what 'role' they are playing on the camera. They may act as a submissive in a role but they should have equal power on agreeing what can and can't happen on the set in front of camera - probably more importantly than in any other kind of acting, otherwise you get into legal issues of assault and sexual crimes if they are forced/coerced in any way! They should have the rights and power to say no and object to anything that they might be asked to do which is going to harm them. Hardcore stuff should still be acting only, and not risking health. "Movie magic" only. In other industries a union would fight for these rights on behalf of its members to protect them. And producers would be expected to do better.
I can put a strap through a Bowling Ball ... that doesn't make it a good idea. Might make a good 'Gag' gift for a newlywed though. Things should be in proportion, neither too big or too small. The same goes for tight vs loose. I would suggest going slightly smaller or softer with your personal ball gag if it is causing you discomfort the next day.

When I was much younger, I realized that the tendency was to want to bid up for the newer experience. There's a reason first times are poignant. But there is a limit beyond which lay tears, animosity and even charges. It is the same path that leads to tragedies with hazing rituals. Learning to moderate with scenario avoids the rush to the extremes in the physical world. You are going to hit a limit and it will likely be more disappointing than finding a level to surf just below the limit and foregoing that last jump.

I've had a partner that could barley take more than a click or two out of a dental gag, and another that the same gag could not open enough to stay in place without a strap. I suspect more view it as any other item size, be it a bra or something else, and if there is not a publishes size they'll guess horribly wrong.
Obviously humans come in all sizes, so a ball gag made for say a large guy, would be too big for a small woman, the same way shoes are made in all sizes to fit. A model will normally quote their shoe size, so maybe they should also quote their gag size. From the photographers point of view, a gag which gives a particular full look in one mouth, may not in a larger mouth. I totally get the race to the bottom and pressure on models, but it all comes back to communication and consent while working together to get the picture and look desired, while keeping safe.
Yeah, there's a bit of a trend for models buying our own ballgags and taking them to shoots, which can help solve the problem!

When you have an only dominant man, who doesn't actually do any of these things in person and therefore hasn't used one of these on themselves or anyone else, then they just assume or fantasize that models can take whatever gets them off.

I don't know anything about the physiology of the jaw when it comes to ballgags, but wasn't there a series of videos where you worked on being able to wear a dildo gag? At first you couldn't do it, but you practiced and worked up through successively larger ones until you were able to wear one the size you wanted. Wouldn't this be similar?
I think you maybe mean a video diary where I was training my gag reflex so that I could wear a deep-throat gag? It wasn't actually a series of gags, just a single one, but I think that's the video you mean. The difference between a c*ck gag & a ballgag is that ballgags that are too big can cause damage to the temporomandibular joint, and it's something that does seem to afflict bondage models quite often as a result. In contrast, training your gag reflex seems to be largely psychological, and doesn't put any particular pressure on your jaw (at least, not for me). I'd certainly be against d*ldo/deep-throat gags becoming a standard that *every* model should feel pressurised into being able to wear, though. It happens to be something that appeals to me, but I wouldn't want to normalise the idea of choking on gags at shoots as a matter of course.
Surely silicone is a much more sensible material, it being both pliant and sensual. It would also allow for the visuals of a big gag, whilst it's pliability minimises the chance of damage to the wearer.
Saying "'No", in whatever context, should absolutely be normalised. There does seem to be and has been a trend for some time where things appear to be getting bigger, as though whatever the size may be, the consumers push for larger sizes still, whether it's a gag, a dildo, a butt plug, a cock etc. If a person or performer wants to try and push themselves of their own volition and try bigger gags/toys/cocks etc. then that's up to them, but it's not something that anyone else should expect or try to force upon them. Everyone has their limits of what they're comfortable with and physically capable of *and* what they're happy doing, and just because we have limits that doesn't mean that one is happy operating at those limits. Everyone, their limits and what they're comfortable and happy with are all different, and that's totally ok, what's not ok is to try and push those limits or make people do things they don't want to, particularly when there's the risk of injury. This should go without saying, but I've heard many a story about models being guilt-tripped by customers saying things like "Well so-and-so wore it/did it, so why can't you?" which is also part of the issue.

To the topic of the video - We live in an age when producing "things" has never been easier. Anyone can design a widget and have it mass produced in China in any quantity they can afford and then ship it easily anywhere in the world.
Anyone can design a Monster Dildo, print molds on a 3d printer, buy a drum of silicone rubber and go into the fantasy cock-making business.
Any one can do it. Many people should not. Sometimes there is no thought going into a product, even less if some Temu Co pinched someone's design and started making knock offs. The end result is a flood of cheap products with not much thought gone into them, poor quality and potentially dangerous materials. Be careful.
