  • It's the end of the tax year, and I've been doing my accounts. It's been a few years since I've talked about the professional expenses you can claim as a model, so I decided to talk you through the things I've claimed for this year, how much I've spent altogether, and what the turnover of my business has done in the last year.
    Here's a link to my memoir, available on Amazon and everywhere else;

    Happy New Tax Year, everyone!

Your modeling work has ticked my various boxes for several years. You're actually quite a large part of my life, and I'm grateful for this channel because it feels a little bit like we're friends and I get to sit and talk with you. You do good work, and it's appreciated.

The very fact that you're getting stuck into your tax return in May, is amazingly efficient and most commendable. Too many self-employed people I know leave it until after Xmas, when they're still either off their face or corpse-like hungover and then panic like a shitting dog at the approach of January 31st!

Ahhhh this was a treat!! Super interesting and informative!!! I can appreciate that the expenses sound large in isolation, however, given your turnover is so high and as you yourself explained it, it's perfectly reasonable and sensible to invest such money in yourself and your business, especially when you delegate some of the tasks you're less fond of and that might stress you out (e.g. accounting, admin) and hire people to help with production to make your life easier and your time more efficient, and it all makes sense. Plus, as you explained, while some of the figures might sound eye-opening at face value (e.g. ~£17k on clothes!), there's rhyme and reason behind it all and it all contributes to your turnover being as high as it is. Furthermore, while you also said you could economise a little with hotel stays and public transport, you don't need to - you've been there and done that and have worked tirelessly over decades to get to the position you're in, especially when former accountants cost you £10k, so treating yourself to nicer hotels with baths and double beds and to first-class train tickets is something you should absolutely do, especially when you're not spending as much on physiotherapy as you maybe want to! Wishing you many more years of success and work expenses to further broaden your modelling and property EMPIRES! Xx

    Ariel,
I casually follow you on X, and I'm surprised your expenses are actually so low.
Even being so Posh now a days. lol!
Good lord, you've earned every cent, and then some, from where I sit.
If you're doing really well (paying lots in taxes) I would suggest a Raise
over any Bonuses for "the help". Here in the State Bonuses are taxed
at almost twice the payroll tax, believe it or not.
If I may, I was wondering how the skin condition on your face is doing?
I haven't seen you mention it, and was just wondering if, and what the cure was?
    Congratulations Darling, and Continued Success.
    Love,
    WB

As always, great video. It should muzzle the "wankers" (but it won't) - for my part I congratulate you on your business knowledge and success!

Very informative, but could be similar advice for other "self employed".

LOL it's ok, it's just a joke, because when I started modelling the advice I got was basically that it'd be over when I turned 30. So I love proving that you can be 'really really old' and still very busy x
