Richie that sounded great! Really enjoyed the video, not just to see you dial in and re-create this JM tone, but because it was helpful to watch you and hear what you were thinking as you dialed it in-I think that was helpful for me when trying to dial in a tone to match what I am listening to. Thanks for sharing. That Strat is awesome. Also, nice playing-much of the tone is in the fingers so to speak, and you definitely have that.
My first tube was a classic 30 and I’m now going to buy one, again. It was some of my banginist tones I’ve ever had and I couldn’t pull such harmonics from using the edge of my pic and thumb. Nice mate!💪🙌
Hey Ritchie, Mayer played it on the middle pickup into a deluxe reverb in the record version and on the inbetween 4th position in the live versions but you got close, love your videos man! Keep it up :)
Hey Richie. Nice job on the tone with the Classic 30. I was having issues getting good tone out of mine. By happy accident I plugged in a different cable and went "what just happenned"? But the eq wasnt quite there so I went through a EHX Knockout attack equalizer and it gave the amp that extra lift it needed. So if anyone else thinks their Peavey is tone-less try the Knockout and a good quality cable first.
Hey there, I can believe that they carry a great tone - ive really enjoyed using a light drive to add top end sparkle [ like an EQ pedal ] Solid little amps ⚡️
Great video! Really nice playing and a good time seeing your process for eq’ing for a target tone. It would be interesting to see a detailed video of your mods to the Classic 30 tubes and caps . I have Classic 30 delta blues as the L/R in my w/d/w setup and am ordering the 3 spring tank for them, now! Thanks for sharing that. Peace.

Great tone and tasty playing! Classic 30’s are great amps. The stock speaker is 12”, not 15”. The original Peavey Delta Blues has a 15” and is another great amp.
Thank you and you are completely right !!! I had been reading about the delta heavily before this upload and somehow managed to convince myself the Classic had a 15 inch ?? 🙃🙃
I've played some of the old peavey classics. They do sound great. I think some people dismiss them because of the name but it's hard to find them cheap right now so something different lol. My main amp is a Bugera Vintage 22. I get compliments on sound until people see the name. I'm about sounds and you definitely got that brother. Thanks for the video
Really nice playing. I bought this amp new when it first came out with the extension cabinet. I am interested in mods you have done and anywhere to start. It’s factory stock. The effect loop master is this the same as wampler pedals did with a volume pot? Great site. Thanx
Hi hat pickups are you using here please im considering getting texas specials but also the 59 vintage are on my list its a nightmare im a new mayer fan but Knopfler is king for me
Hi Mate! I really like this video. Would you think that with this peavy classic 30 is a great budget friendly option to get a fender style blues tone??
To be honest... I liked them all haha. I don't consider myself a tone hunter like a lot of people where they're looking for the perfect klon breakup, tape saturation or whatever. Here was my own interpretation of the tone some years ago (video 2) instagram.com/p/B1MyZjiI_QU 3:24 Yeah John Mayer is probably one of the most talented musicians of our generation.
Just picked up a peavey classic 30 USA Today & it definitely needs some modifications so I appreciate this video!! The original speaker unfortunately wasn’t in it but everything works on it just a different speaker. I’m going to definitely put some work into her. Any speaker suggestions & anything else I’m here for it🙏🏾 really would love know exact models for mod especially the new reverb tank cause this hum killing me😅
@@1701nero hi there , i haven't listed anything on eBay for sooo long im not sure how to use it correctly. when i looked it said i couldn't send an offer out if the person hadn't had it in there basket ? ill look into it now , failing that i also have it listed on reverb which i use all the time, offers are open there, Bests, Richie :]
Sounds brilliant. Do all classic 30’s have a 15’ ?? I just bought one off Reverb and it has the stock Blue Marvel. Any mods I should consider? Thanks and great playing. Btw-My name is also Richie.😎

That sweet 30 classic sound with that reverb mod is fire. Wish my classic sounded like that. I have to ask my amp guy about that mod :)
9:24 15" speaker? Classic 30's come stock with 12". Did you modify the amp to fit a 15"
Indeed 🤔
You basically nail it! Great tone, great playing and great demo. Thanks!
Nice style of playing , sounds fantastic
Hey Ritchie, Mayer played it on the middle pickup into a deluxe reverb in the record version and on the inbetween 4th position in the live versions but you got close, love your videos man! Keep it up :)
Thanks for the info!
Very impressed before you even adjusted the amp then WOW , that reverb is amazing. Great job Richie.
Thank you Jonas, when these amps are working as they should be they actually cary a very decent tone ⚡️⚡️
C30 is a 12" speaker as standard. Have you managed to cram a 15" speaker in there?
15" speakers good for strat but not much else. People play that Mayer tune too often. Its killing it.

badass tone nice playing
I picked one of these up 2 weeks ago, I hear the classic 20 with a 12" speaker wired to it is really nice tonally.

Very good sound!!!
I'll try to replicate it on my Peavey C30.

Wow that's brilliant. Great tone and explaining how are you got it. Maybe I should try this through my Peavey Classic 100
I’ve been looking for one of those for a while, but there’s not much information on them, how would you say it is?

Totally agree! I wrote these amps off until I tried one !! ultimately it should only ever be about what we hear rather than what we see 😊
I just got a classic 50 4x12 for 365🤣😂😭😭😭😭😭😭😭✨✨✨✨✨ Dallas Texas
And the v 22 is trash truly a horrible amp
@@rickeymitchell8303 that's not a bad price
@@rickeymitchell8303 I've been playing mine for a little over 5 years now. If you know what your doing it's a great amp. Try one out
Great tone Ritchie, you got really close with using only guitar+amp.
As the elders used to say, “it’s close enough for Government work.”
Hahaha, if the shoe fits 🤪
Loved that tone so much Ritchie your playing is amazing 👍👍👍
Thanks Cussy, I really appreciate that 😊
...a little "aside" is the word you're looking for lol. Good video as always.
Pickups in that strat sound awesome. Are they an upgrade set? Nice.
What reverb tank did you get for the c30. I wanna do the same to my c50 410
Lovely tones bro, shame your mic was clipping a bit.
Love the mods you did, easy enough for me to do at home (other than swapping caps).

I have been able to get any tone I wanted from the Peavey classic amps and the wonderful Carvin Bel air
What new tank did you get out of interest? I did this mod on my valveking and the difference was night and day, looking to do it to my Classic 30 now
Damn! that little amp is great!
Great tone can't wait to fire up my classic 30 I just recapped it 😎
Good choice!
Very nice tone man! Which pickup do you use ? Nice sound

Exactly that yeah ! It can be a little bright but you can EQ that out ⚡️⚡️
Ritchie! Have a look on CERIATONE AMP....
Hand made AMP, closest from Dumble
Just amazing
That thing sounds awesome😎 where did you get that 3 spring reverb from? I’ll have to check what my hot rod deluxe has
Search out a mod reverb 3 spring 😊

Excellent suggestion Simon !!

No. The delta 15 has the 15" speaker. Its always been 12" in the C30. I don't think a 15" would fit in the baffle from the two C30's I've had.
Would love the track mate😊😊😊
Do you think it's possible to chase this tone with a stock peavey classic 20 MH with a 112 cab?
Almost Certainly.
is the tone knob on the guitar rolled all the way?
It’s at about 7-8 ⚡️
Sounds like John Mayer 2 me 2!
Ps its Adrian 😁😁😁
The rest of the tone is probably in his hands.
Yeah man, too close for the average Joe!
Not a 15
Free advice; don't sing, or even hum, learn to edit. Otherwise, nice tones.
