- J.S. Bach: Toccata and fugue in D minor. Adapted for clarinet ensemble by Guido Six. Concert at the Nerve International Convention, Utrecht (The Netherlands). International Clarinet Choir (Belgium). Conductor, Eddy Vanoosthuyse.
(Marco Antonio Mazzini, contrabass clarinet)
Its nice to read that people pay extra attention to the contrabass clarinet! I play that instrument in this group, and in this concert. I'm playing a Leblanc contrabass here. It was a very nice concert. Thanks for your observation.
Eddy came to Iceland in 2004 and we had a Masterclass and concert for a weekend. He then played Leblanc OpusII Bb clarinet and an older Buffet A clarinet. One Icelandic girl Sveinhildur Torfadottir studied with him and almost all of his students were playing Leblanc at that time(he got go deal on them since he had a contract with Leblanc at that time). His sound is very smooth and fluid(like I find the Opus clarinet sound for me). We were then a bit shooked to know that he now plays Buffet Tosca
muito bom!!! e um abraço para todos que apreciam a boa música!!!!
The Contrabasses sound amazing! Earth-shaking, really...
The bass!!! :'D It's making me emotional /-\ I've never heard a low concert D sound more beautiful c':
Thank you! (I was playing the contrabass clarinet)
that contrabass clarinet is AMAZING. just thought i'd put that out there.
Glorious! GREAT ensemble playing....Thanks for posting!
You are welcome!
i have already heard some other performances including Marco Mazzini; he is simply a virtuoso! I really like
beautiful.
this is the heaven!!!!!!!!! wonderful
¡¡Maravilloso!! Bach estaría encantado si hubiera escuchado este ensamble...
Great performance! My only gripe? CONDUCTED WAY TOO FAST!!! Some of those end phrase chords are supposed to be SAVORED, not rushed through. Sustain it a bit, good lord... Also, if anyone would like to see a vid of Marco and his contrabass search for his vid called "Kinsa Trio: Himno al Sol". I absolutely love this piece.
What a great sound, I wish my lcarinet choir was this big. keep the videos coming!
I'm in the top band at my high school and I've been playing clarinet for 4 years since 6th grade and this year during concert season is the year I get to play the Bb Contra Clarinet! SO EXCITED :D
holy crap.
I'm a clarinettist, and I wish I could be in an ensemble like that
clarinets + minor keys = love
There are many types of organ pipes. Besides the straight tubes which sound like flutes, there are conical tubes with reeds which sound like clarinets and oboes. The pipe organ and a wind band can sound remarkably similar because of the variation of tubes as well as both "instruments" use wind to power the sound.
Bravo!! Very nice!!!!!
thanks for posting!!...i love the darker european clarinet sound.
This is an epic win!
ESPECTACULAR! FELICITACIONES!!!
thanks! It was a nice concert
Bravo! This is amazing!
I use 6 Luries.... I am a contra/bassoonist as well as a clarinetist, so when I go to clarinet from bassoon, and especially contrabassoon, I need something that can handle my blasting... I also like the control you get with thick reeds; I can play higher than a piano using overtones/harmonics, weaker reeds can't handle the vibrations.
Tubas, move outta the way! Here come the Contraclarinets! "BUZZZZZZZZ!!!!!"
There are alto, piccolo and contrabass clarinets in this ensemble. I play here the contrabass clarinet. Thanks for your question
This is absolutely awesome. :D
It makes me wanna play my clarinet more often than I do, even though I'm the only one who practices in my grade.
Thanks for your kind comment ( I play the contrabass clarinet in this ensemble)
wow... I really want to play this song one day!!! :D
magnificent!
Thanks for your kind comment ( I play the contrabass clarinet in this enseöble!)

Great. Thank you so much. Many greetings from OK-Dreamband. CD "Clarinet-Dreams" is available for download (iTunes, amazon).
OMG this is so amazing!!! i want to play this song but i don't have any kind of arrangement TT-TT
Maravilloso!
I would die to play that Contrabass!!!!
i love clarinet
Is the the contra being played here a Selmer or Leblanc?
It's a Leblanc and the mouthpiece was quite open (I'm playing the contrabass clarinete in this video). Thanks for your comment!
eccezionale!!!
1 word . GODS!
Yes.
Fantàstica interpretació! Potser a Bach li hauria agradat...
Nice!
I miss playing contra!

message me
well what would you call it?
Clarinets rule!
wouah !
Wow wow wow!!! Amazing performance! This is just like a Recorder orchestra except lots of reeds and keys. And an octave or two lower -- or three. And we would *never* attempt this piece :)
Why is it rushed?! Haven't you ever heard a recording of this! You don't rush, especially the fugue, it just sounds terrible. I like the contrabass sound though...
No, saxophones have CONICAL bores, not cylindrical, otherwise, they wouldn't overblow at the octave. That fact is also what gives them their unique timbre- a totally different sound from the clarinet.
@dataro93 sir FYI this song at that time made my day thats why i said that lol
that was fuckin amazing. it ALMOST sounds better than the original with the organ. BUT...the organ just has something about it. these clarinets rock tho!
I can play this song ok I guess. I would love to be in a clarinet ensamble. It seems like it would be relly fun. I think I'm too young, though.
oh ok sorry but it was really awesome!!!
:D
if that's the truth, then i would expect saxophones to have near exact timbre of sound, seeing as they are cyllindrical tubes, only brass, like the organ. i would love to hear this done by a saxophone choir, just to confirm my curiosity
Tocatta and fugue
Eb or Bb?
3:12 starts the godlike part
9 people's sub-woofer / base on their speakers worn 't working...
sow sow for audio
nice for video
how about calling it a tune?
This song go Hard like a mofo!!!! get that shit clarinets !!!!
lol @ the reed squeak at 2:30 ish
@Acesshadow513 Hope your lungs are insured! :-)
Oh, that squeak...
Excellent work by the performers, no doubt. I'm just not a fan of the clarinet. Still, excellent work.
the first notes sounded horrible
Its not a song dude
Contra bass isn't as good as everyone says. The Eb clarinet is way better
I would like to know if this has been recorded ?
What was the exact instrumentation and how many on a part ?
Bravo
i have already heard some other performances including Marco Mazzini; he is simply a virtuoso! I really like
Beautiful
Was there an Alto or a Contra alto in the choir?
