Sooner fan here. Never heard this coach talk before but he is a class act. And what can you say about their Freshman pitcher throwing 283 pitches in a 24 hr period. Incredible!
AND pitch a shutout in her first WS appearance. Kid is fired up and showed no timidity all tournament. Amazing poise and ball control. Hats of to both teams for an epic unforgettable battle💪💪
I had the honor of knowing Coach Walton when he was at Wichita State. My Daughter went all his camps and then Coach invited her to take private hitting lessons with him. He was so open in sharing his knowledge and mentoring both of us. He is a special, special coach and person. Even though I am a lifelong Sooner; I still follow all that Coach Walton and the Gators get done. Congrats Coach and all the Gators!!
I’m happy to see everyone giving these girls props, I’m a sooner fan but I think I’ll be rooting for the gators next year too! I’m hoping for another rematch because y’all are amazing.
OU fan here too! What a group of players! I did not know much about you coach but when I saw the OSU coach get teared up talking about you and your relationship, I knew the kind of person you must be! It shows in the way your players played! It is tough to get so close but thank you for a great series!
OU fan here crying when Skylar was talking about being a Florida Gator. These girls were tough. They played so well. Mad respect for coach Walton too. I remember years ago coach benched 3 starters before a big game for breaking team rules. (I forget the details, but it was with the Fagen sisters and one other person.) mad respect. They played their heart out to get to the WCWS and make it this far. I’m glad Jocelyn Erickson found a home with the Gators. I thought she was special and was sad to her leave OU. ❤😊

That freshman pitcher is not from this planet, her pitch count and the fact she stymied every OU bat that stepped to the plate, over and over and over. There are damn few pitchers (less than 4) to stymie OUr bats for an entire game and surely not a freshman. I actually feel sorry for us and the rest of the softball world when we all step to the plate and that freshman is on the mound. A living, fire breathing monster on the mound. Look out softball world, this young lady is gonna give us all pure hell. Keep ya head up young lady, your name will go down in the history books. At 73 I probably won't be around to see it, records yes, history no, so when it happens remember this old man told ya so😍😍😍

Being honest. I live in Tulsa, so you know, my biases already. I admit I didn't think your team was that good until I saw you play. I followed your record. You played a hell of a game. Have no doubt you will be back to the playoffs in the near future. The game could have just as easily gone your way. Roth rock is a hell of a pitcher and just a freshman SMH. I would be happy to sit down with Skyler and discuss the greatest softball program in America right now. lol.

I love that our OU girls and our coach are confident enough as a team and individually to give credit and compliments to other teams. They are strong in who they are and aren’t afraid to admit mistakes or weaknesses. Coach Walton doesn’t seem to be able to do that. One of many examples…when Jenni C. asks him about Jayda and our (Oklahoma)line up he says “ Yep, they are similar to us.” Don’t always make it about yourself. Just step up and credit other great players and teams Tim Walton. It would show you are a man/coach of character. You would gain some respect. Geez! You have a good team but it doesn’t take away from you or your team to admit when others are good ( or better) !
