  • Finally decided to make my Extreme Boating setup, people laugh...but hey, I'm the only guy around that can launch my boat off a cliff...and get it back on the trailer...it has come in handy more than a few times.

    Thanks for putting this video out. I'm gonna buy one of these for myself. I even have a split trailer. Tilt style like yours. excellent

    I am in the process of doing this, for my Tracker Grizzly 1860. Sometimes I cannot always get far enough into the water to get up the trailer, and my boat is heavy. This will make it so much easier to deal with.

      Revamped Outdoors How did you wire it up?

      I bought a rear tow hitch kit from farm and fleet for like $40 that had the connector and battery terminals with an inline fuse. Seems to work well so far.

      Revampedoutdoors Do you remember what the kit was called, having trouble finding it.

      Yup, just found the box for the kit in the shed! It is a Keeper Trailer Wiring Kit model number KTA14128. I think I got it on a good deal or the price went up because I don't remember paying over $45 for it but none the less it's a good kit and comes with everything so you don't have to piece it together. I think the cost of 6 AWG is pretty high anyway then you need the fittings and the heat shrink and all that. If you have all that stuff it might be worth it to get bulk 6 AWG. I wouldn't go too much bigger of a winch with only 6 AWG but for something this size it's been working great and the wires stay cool to the touch. I found a decent price on Amazon at this link goo.gl/RcF8KM (Not Affiliate). It might be worth it to shop around a bit to see if you can get a deal price on it although under $80 isn't too bad I think. Hopefully this helps out.

    that is one of their ATV winch. Marine winch is their winch in the bulky plastic case with three mount bolts at bottom not two like their ATV winches. It also has a handle to manually winch as well as a slip over trailer ball plate you can mount too.

      Yup sure is, badlands 61840, been functioning fine as a boat winch for 3 years now.

    I bought the same winch for my hibie 17T trailer. I have not installed it yet and was suggested to just replace the hand winch. But I'm hesitant and like also how you raised it. I'm going to try and figure out how to do the same and see if I can put a taller stand for it.

    • @RevampedOutdoors
      @RevampedOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as you can support the hull/hulls well through the whole pull, it seems to do well. I would be a little hesitant on anything too heavy or fiberglass or wood with a lot of back weight. Once the trailer tilts forward and the weight is still stern side I could see a softer material buckling. But as long as everything is tight and light it should pull up fine. I haven't needed to extreme launch in a long time but the last time was at a canoe launch down a 20ft cliff. It worked great the folks at the park were definitely curious.

    I used a 2500lb winch but it wasn't powerful enough. I upgraded to the 5000lb winch. You can use the wireless remote assembly with the 5000lb winch.

      Nice, yeah my duck boat is tiny.

      I also ran 10 gauge wires from my battery to a 2 prong quick disconnect so I didnt need a extra battery. Converted it from wire to a strap so save my hands from the meat hooks

    • @RevampedOutdoors
      @RevampedOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It definitely helps, I ran a similar setup with the quick disconnect, much easier than lugging another battery around. To be fair I don't even use the winch anymore but when there isn't a launch it helps a lot.

    What is the pound strength on the winch your using

    • @RevampedOutdoors
      @RevampedOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      2500 but I wouldn't, trust their rating I would say 1500lbs

    I want to do something similar. Could you have simply replaced the manual winch with the atv winch or would that have caused problems? I get that having the manual for a back up is good but on my setup putting it in front of the other winch would be difficult.

    • @RevampedOutdoors
      @RevampedOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could replace them but just make sure to use it often, because this is a duck boat I only use it 30 times a year for 2 months so it's a pain to get it to go again after it sits for too long. But otherwise yeah I don't think it would be a problem to just run the electric. The backup is nice though especially if someone is waiting at the launch and I need to go fast. I mostly did this for off road boating where there is no launches

    What kind of trailer is that? Never seen one like that.

    • @RevampedOutdoors

      I wish I had a better answer for this question I've been looking for a similar one since I bought this one used. I just went and looked for a manufacture plate on it again but there isn't one or it's been removed or painted over all these years. From what I can tell it is a 16ft plus boat trailer with 12+" tire fenders, square axle with 1 1/16" spindle and a tilt option with a remote cord on a handle at the winch. The trailer is definitely oversized for the boat that is currently on it but the tilt option has saved me a lot of time launching at shallow launches or launching places a boat launch does not exist. If you can find a large wheeled tilt trailer for a boat, buy it! Single axle tilt trailers are really amazing. Sorry I couldn't help out more.

      Wired through 2 wires off of the battery to the hitch.

    Is that remote water proof?

      Water resistant, I wouldn't dunk it in the water.
