- Hi, I'm Tate Harris and this is The Daily Report. For the past few days I have been busy auditioning for a comedy group that I really want to join, and unfortunately I heard this morning that I didn't get in. I had a blast though, and I've got other opportunities to do more improv. Thanks for watching and I'll see you tomorrow.

Last video I was going to post that it would be in his benefit NOT to get in, so that he can take this off his plate and focus on his studies.
You did you best and you felt good about it. That is a success in itself.

Don't take it personally, Tate. Consider it the universe's way of telling you not to overbook your time. You've got a lifetime to try and do all sorts of things, so don't let one missed opportunity get your down.

I'm sorry to hear that. But, like others have said, maybe a blessing in disguise with how much you're already stretching yourself.

What I believe is that when one door closes, another one opens. There’s not just a yes or a no, an in or an out. Hang in there!!
The problem often is that people spend too much time focusing on the closed door, that they fail to notice another has opened. Lessons for life.
Tate, dont burn the candle at both ends. Academics come first. Best wishes

Very sorry to hear! I'm a writer and I've been a performer so I say do not take it personally! I get rejections and turn-downs all the time! You tried, that's the best you can do!
There are about five grammatical errors in that sentence alone, Mr. Ryder. I think I see why you may be getting rejected as often as you have been.

U will be making a video down the road a piece, with some amazing news that wouldn't have been possible if u had have been it the comedy troop.. Life's hard to explain in certain moments
"I just spent all week not doing my homework".... "I've got a big exam today".... "worried about my test this morning".... "I was flustered"...."only 4 classes so far"...."1 class I missed"....."worth 17% of my grade". Interested to see how that works out, if it becomes a reality and focus check.
Hey, you didn’t get in, don’t worry about it. That’s just means there’s something better coming along that you wouldn’t have seen if you had gotten in.
So what you do is exactly what you’re doing. Ask for constructive criticism, and be lighthearted about it. While directing your own group this year, you’ll learn so much. Next year, you’ll blow it out of the park. And, if you still don’t get into the other comedy group, you’ll have had fun doing it, and will have grown along the way. Fingers crossed for a good party, a high exam score, and a restfully enjoyable weekend.
I think like many have said, you appear to be stretching yourself over quite a lot. You’ll be able to get the gym in, sleep better and do your class work so much better with a few things less to worry over x
Hey Tate, don't know you but I feel connected to your experience of rejection right now. Listen, it's hard to think outside of ourselves because this stuff hits our core emotions but try to remember that there are so many factors of not being chosen for something and especially in something subjective like comedy. It's a numbers game and really it's just about leveraging luck. The more potential for luck you have the better. SO keep putting yourself out there and keep working on your craft and YOU WILL find opportunities. It's easier said than done and I'm working on staying level headed every day but you will do so many great things if you keepyour head up and find the opportunities.

These folks must think they're the bloody Cambridge Footlights or something.
They are actually recognised by the college's own student comedy body as the college's "premier improv comedy group" while Tate's group is all about "experimental comedy".

Listen. Every great performer has gone through rejection. It's part of the job. Keep doing what you love and perfecting your craft. Success will come. Rejection is part of the journey to success. For ALL of us. Hang in there. Chin up. and keep reaching. You'll get there.

Tate, you don't NEED all that!! You just gotta do what Matt Rife did and make your own path forward.
Don't be upset over the comedy group. It may be they know you are running another one and don't want the competition in their group.

Apply, audition, go to call-backs (sometimes multiple), receive rejection letter (if you‘re lucky; you might just hear nothing) - welcome to the world of theatre! Not comforting, but reality. You won‘t be given reasons for the rejection, either. Most of the time, it‘s just that another person was more in line with what the director wanted, not that you were bad. Better luck next time!

Apologies for the agony of doing through a process in which you did not get selected, disappointed yes, a growth opportunity most definitely! Refine your craft, it seems your involvement with managing the other group and possibly striking out with your close friends that auditioned and didn't get in either.
You already know there are many failures before success‼️

Meh, it's not the end of the world.
I mean, well... it IS the end of the world, but not getting in to the comedy group isn't a personal end of the world. Meanwhile, DON'T do anything you don't truly want to do... there isn't a lot of time left.
the camera has a multi-element lens. what you are seeing in the corner is reflection between the lens elements. they should have anti-reflection coating to reduce that but the coating they have is not that good. a better coating costs more. really good coatings have 20 or more thin layers as thin as a molecule. on larger cameras with really big lens elements you can see the coating as colors. the very best coatings are invisible and nothing reflects.

College is a learning experience in many ways. I hope the auditioners can give you an honest appraisal so you can move forward. Are you doing the same in your audition process?

As for trading on his looks, again, never got the impression he was interested in that.
I guess if you're looking for that sort of content there's plenty of other guys who do that. 🤷

Just a thought: don't call the applicants to the comedy group "kids". Likely most or all of them are adults now, and it's possible some are even be older than you!
I think they say something about rejection in the performing arts that is positive and inspiring, but I can't remember what that is...sorry.

Have you thought about asking them for some feedback on your performance and why they didn’t pick you?
Some groups research people applying. They may have come across this TH-cam channel you have and don’t want their group exposed by talking about it? They may be watching this video too? Just a thought.
We never see any comedy on here.

You just emit a really creepy vibe with all your forced, unnecessary smiling that unveils some of the yellowest teeth I've ever seen, son. Brushing your teeth is one of those things you don't want to practice acting to hone your skills; it's something you should actually do. Just being brutally honest.
His teeth are fine. I've seen some people who's teeth are SO unnaturally white that it's off-putting.
I will agree though that he smiles WAY too much. But for some people that's just their natural facial expression, so if that's the case then that's okay. If it's forced (which sometimes it seems like it could be, especially if someone smiles A LOT) then yeah, he probably shouldn't force it.
You may not fit with the seniors. So, try again next year.
Doing a small.comedy group for practice is a good idea.
