    Great instructional video. One suggestion (that I learned the hard way😩) when installing stainless pipes is to always clean them really carefully after fitting (and before the first engine start) with windex or some similar non-residue leaving cleaner. Otherwise, as the the pipe heats up and naturally colors into nice golden hues etc, any oily marks, fingerprints etc become permanently baked blotches in the metal...

      I don’t actually have this exhaust system on my bike anymore. For me it was just too noisy when out on long day rides. I now have the standard exhaust system back on, but with a decat pipe which I think is perfect.

    Your garage looks to be better decorated than my lounge! A big part of the attraction of RE's must be how easy they are to work on as bikes used to be in the days before you tube when all we had were a few spanners and lots of red hermetite.

    from my experience, riding without the baffle makes the engine completely loose the thump… when I went for the first ride I was immensely disappointed by the sound… It was just a low end mushed up something that really did not resemble the classic sound.. with the baffle in, it is exquisite and it gets back all the character and adds that rawness to it… 🤷🏻‍♂️😁 big difference, wasn’t expecting it …

    A few day back I got around to fitting the DNA filter & cover which on its own gives a bit more mid range torque and some induction roar but frankly was a bit underwhelmed considering the reviews though no negatives I guess. Then I fitted the D-cat pipe. Now we’re talking. Collectively they transform the bike’s character. Before I had a bike that looked like an old bike but sounded like a scooter with a nice farty exhaust. Nice enough, very relaxing ride, no complaints. Now though it not only resembles an old bike it sounds more like one too! Also, it altogether feels keener to spin up and happier to pull from lower revs and the spark plug still looks fine after a 90mile ride-out with my dealer yesterday. I’ve kept the original silencer on as I don’t care for the look of the Hitchcock that much.
    So my only question is, what benefit would there be for me to fit a Fuel-X, did you notice any improvements after the new exhaust?

    • @tigerness5555
      @tigerness5555  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great to hear that you enjoyed my wee video.
      Hard to tell if it’s worth fitting the FuelX, there’s no perceivable increase in power. I fitted my to hopefully ensure that the fuelling was always correct. So far no problems with it and my plug colour is perfect.

    • @simonwalker7957
      @simonwalker7957 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@tigerness5555 yes, watching the TEC video, they say no increase in power should be expected and that it makes the bike run smoother. They also pointed out that it was just a matter of swapping 2 connections would in effect uninstall it so would make an a-b comparison very easy; might be worth a go perhaps?

      Hey brother, if you could clear my doubts:-
      I'm thinking of removing the CatCon & using the stock silencer/exhaust (Will get the RE reborn delivered this month).
      1)What all changes(Sound, performance & fuel efficiency)can I expect after decating?
      2) Will I need to tune the engine after decating?
      3) Does decating harm the engine in anyway as there's widespread misinformation in India that decating harms the engine as the engine was designed to work with the CatCon & as it changes the back pressure?
      4) Will I need to tune the engine if I decat & also change the stock exhaust to aftermarket free flow one?
      Regards.

    Hi. Congrats for your channel It has very good tutorials. Can i ask something. When you install an aftermarket exhaust and and air-filter you alter the way the bike breathes. Am I right? So consequently is there a need to do a fuel remap or chance the ECU? Or does the ECU auto adjusts to the new parameters so nothing needs to be done? Thanks in advance.

    • @tigerness5555
      @tigerness5555  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You should do an ECU reset, see info below. No need for a remap or change of ECU. You could consider fitting a FuelX light but it’s debatable as to whether it actually makes any difference. Hope this helps 👍
      The following information is from the workshop manual:
      The following procedure to be followed when if any change in the EMS sensors or fuel type
      Step 1 - Check for Engine Oil Temperature (EOT) at start is less than 40 ° C.
      Step 2 - Allow the engine to idle and leave it undisturbed till the Engine Oil Temperature reaches 115° C.(Time required for the EOT to reach 115°C will be 30 minutes approximately)
      Step 3 - Once Engine Oil Temperature reaches 115°C, turn "OFF" the ignition key and DO
      NOT turn it back ON for the next 30 seconds.

      There was nothing wrong with the Hitchcocks system, as stated in my video it did feel like there was a slight power increase.
      I removed it as for me, it was just a bit too noisy, especially on a long days run. I personally like the quiet standard system, it suits the placid nature of the bike. Hichcocks do a modified centre stand specifically for this problem. Myself I used a rubber door stop.videos on TH-cam show the door stop method. The RE classic 350 cat is much smaller and straight and the stand does not rest on the cat.

    • @tigerness5555
      @tigerness5555  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Without taking the pipe back of and measuring them both I don’t know. I suspect that the bore may be slightly smaller as the original is double lined. This helps to keep the chrome on the standard pipe looking good and not slightly discolouring like the new one.
      The bike does run better and is definitely louder.

    Yesterday i put the Hitchcocks exhaust on my my classic 350 with dna filter stage 2.The result is better response and relaxing machine work..That's all.But i notice that the chrome colour on the "neck" of the exhaust change immedietly in something between silver and gold..Is that normal ? i am asking because the original exhaust is still "silver" after 5000 km

    • @tigerness5555
      @tigerness5555  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ilias, the neck of my Hitchcocks exhaust also changed colour with use. I suspect that the standard exhaust pipe has a double skin and the Hitchcocks one is only single skin. Many modern bikes have double skin pipes to help prevent discolouration. Hope this helps.

    The exhausts available in India, we only need to remove the CatCon & the exhaust, not even the bend pipe.
    My question is sir that if I remove the CatCon & use the stock silencer, will the sound increase?
    And will it affect the performance & fuel efficiency or harm the engine in anyway (they say removing CatCon without tuning the engine is harmful for the engine)?

    • @tigerness5555

      Removing the catalytic converter will increase the sound from the standard silencer. Many people have done this and also fitted the DNA air filter and FuelX light, all with no harm to the engine. I think these modifications are the best combination for this bike.

    so, what did you think to the sound difference? To me, listening on my iPad it sounds more metallic, less rich. I actually like the sound of my bike though I’d like it a few dB louder but from my experience with my Elise, I know the cat and air filter strangle the engine. I too am running in, now at 356 miles with service booked for the 5th.Oct. I have been considering the d-cat pipe and air filter mod but probably after the service so I get to feel the bike after it without mods. Interested to know Tiger Ness what mileage you are on? Also, are there insurance implications for such a mod? Enjoying you no nonsense videos, keep them coming.
